(no subject)

Date: November 1st
Location: The Observatory.
Characters: Everyone.
Summary: New Transports arrive and are shuffled into the Observatory after their initial briefings. The zombie plot will not spill over into this area, this area is safe and unaffected! To face zombies, characters must leave the area, and please move to the event log with those threads.
Warnings: None.

Your arrival here has been very unceremonious. One second you were somewhere else, and now, very suddenly, your feet hit the glowing white of the Transporter pad, and you're here. You aren't alone, either. There's a crowd of others around you, each seeming just as bewildered, angry, or confused as you might feel. At the head of the group is a woman in purple robes, solemn and taciturn. She hurries over a quick overview of your intended purpose here, and gives direct answers when asked for them, but to most things she simply shows you how to access the tablet you've just been given, or tells you that the DITR's greeters will explain everything. On the tablet, you can find the history of this place and a record of what your new cohorts have experienced — although it won't have Network access for another 8 hours. Someone stands on hand to give you a weapon, and though the armory is now greatly reduced, you should be able to find something to suit you.

You're shepherded down a walkway tunnel and into the Observatory, where you will find screens mounted on three sides of the wide room. It's night outside the great wide windows, and the lunar landscape isn't much to look at right now; the only lighting comes from dull red emergency lights, but there are… noises. Listen carefully. Over the voices of your fellow Transports, now and then you might catch the sound of a scrape, or a low and muffled cry. It doesn't sound human. Are there animals up here?

You're free to explore the base, visit and use any of the VR rooms, or discover your new room and roommates, but try not to step out of any airlocks if oxygen is a requirement for your system.

Welcome to the moon base, and to the remains of Exsilium.

[[ ooc; As a note for players of current characters: please keep your root comments confined to the various groups and organizations that set up root comments to greet new characters! We highly encourage tagging around here, but since it's a log meant for new characters specifically, we ask that they be the ones to set up root threads to the entry. Thank you, and happy playing! ]]

Well, uh. You sure you're okay? Tripped on you pretty hard back there.

You make it sound like it's a good thing. Not that I don't like having stories to tell, but, y'know. Genocide's not a theme a lot of people like. Unless they're messed up, up here.

[pointing with his finger. at his head. yep.]

The shake and squeeze seemed to do it, and the guy pulled himself together, a little, at least enough to wipe at his face and look at her like he saw something outside his own head. She dropped her hand when he did, staring at her for a little too long - she was starting to get used to that. Everyone had seen something strange in this place, but they weren't all quite used to it yet, and even if she was used to seeing aliens in her everyday life, this kid probably wasn't.

When he asked where he was, she tilted her head, a birdlike sort of gesture, face still serious, and started to wonder if he was more cracked than she'd thought. Panic made sense, when it came to the crying and puking. This disorientation was something else, on another level.

"Irisa. You're on the moon." she said, then sighed, "Didn't you listen to them when they explained it? They weren't lying."

She crossed her arms, cocked her hip to the side, and when he commented on her eyes, she snorted slightly, "No. Yours are."

A battle?

[ her face turns into one that's confused, only since she's never called it that before. it quick fades into a smug grin because she decides that she likes the sound of that! ]

You could say that.

Correct. As far as I was told, Aoba has gone to retrieve additional supplies. Because supplies are extremely limited here, everyone must ration food and water portions to make it last for as long as possible. If Aoba would like to have a party, though, I wouldn't mind.

[he nods, looking down, shifting his weight from foot-to-foot.

oh...

well, losing that tablet wouldn't be very good, would it? he bends down and picks it up, squinting. wait, is this his or mine?]

The Armstrong Base?

[Peter puffs up a little at the mention of being smarter than most people here, if only because he likes knowing he's smart. He's a kid seeking validation sometimes, he can't help it! As for the name, he seems to think it works for him.

With one exception:]

Unless that whole thing didn't go down in this world. It might not have.

-- Wow, thanks! [THAT IS SUPER NICE. He takes it, and makes a show of putting into his pocket.] I'll make sure I hold on to it, I promise.
unmasking: (what was that? i'm cute?)

[personal profile] unmasking 2013-11-19 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I don't deliver newspapers. I work on the website.

[Peter counts himself lucky for not being used to being dead long enough that it's still easy to slip into present tense.]
reunites: (put the gloves on;)

[personal profile] reunites 2013-11-19 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
-- Whoa!

[Noishe barks for the first time since they got here, and Lloyd jumps, but it's more from surprise than anything else.]

What is that?

[Like, an owl, he can see that much. But dang.]
reunites: (my only rehabilitation;)

[personal profile] reunites 2013-11-19 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
I know that.

[He sighs, rolling his eyes.]

If you don't wanna tell me, fine, whatever.
unmasking: (i already told you i was behind)

Good on swimming. [He doesn't seem too pleased to test that, though. That flood really was a big deal.]

And I think I've got the right idea, unless this is a universe that's undergoing some problems. Which is possible. The time travel factor could be knocking a few holes in things.

You're from the On-Line world! I know people there!

And you work on sites on the web! How does it work? What do you do? Is there a series of pipes?

[there goes his interest.]
fraternize: (hoot hoot bitch !!owl)

[personal profile] fraternize 2013-11-19 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
...he's just Owl.

[he explains in just one word because it's as simple as that - of course, that's not what owl is, but oswald assumes he's talking about that. chains, chains, chains - owl's vision ticks from oswald to noishe (what is he supposed to do here, he's just sitting around on oswald's hand for now), silent as the haze stays centered in his wings.]

As for what... he's a creature from my world.

[he's tilting it, wincing a little at spying a crack in the smooth surface that the light gives off when turned enough. yikes...

he gives this guy a worried look, tilting it toward him. is it?]

You know the internet, but you don't know that other stuff?

[Peter's willing to answer, but he's dubious, Asgardian or not.]

Am I to know everything?

[there's a curious look at that. it's not like he really ever thought to look up mail boxes (sometimes theirs became so stuffed with local flyers that the Broxton township sent word for someone to come clean it out.)]
nosebleeds: (018)

[personal profile] nosebleeds 2013-11-19 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
No, it's cool, it's cool - I know somebody who can fix it. [he shrugs and tilts his head, nodding, so sure he can help.] Everything else's in one piece, right?
unmasking: (just mocking with OLD refs)

[personal profile] unmasking 2013-11-19 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
No, it's just—obvious usage and all that. I guess you never really had the chance.

[At least, that's his read on it.]

[But then... Could it be??]

The rabbits on Earth are from the moon! [She sounds very sure of something she hadn't even considered moments ago.]

That's it, isn't it? We're just visiting them now!

To be honest, I never bothered to give it that much thought. Bigger problems and all that jazz. I woudn't count on it, though, it's a das't strange universe.

[Like the fact that they're completely alone out here gives him the creeps, sometimes. It shouldn't be like that. There's a ton of empty space and a ton of allies they should have been able to call on...there should be somebody who put a stop to this kind of mess before it could ever get this far.]

I'm sure you could propose it and get a rousing debate out of it, though. If you really felt that strongly about paying tribute to Neil Armstrong, and, you know, you were up for explaining who he was repeatedly. It would give everybody something to do besides sit around twiddling their thumbs.

[Himself included, unfortunately, since some people named Adam and Gamora are being less than helpful on coming up with plans. Which leaves it all on him to...lead. Those assholes, expecting their leader to do something like that.]

[personal profile] getoffmyearth 2013-11-19 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
You may not want to go back for awhile, then. It doesn't look much like it used to.

[Considering what they did to the planet. Is he still mad about that? Absolutely. Never going to be ok with that. All of that. Especially the bomb.]

It's the lack of atmosphere. Everything looks great in space. From space. It's only when you go looking at what's on the stuff down below that you run into trouble.
