Location: The Observatory.
Characters: Everyone.
Summary: New Transports arrive and are shuffled into the Observatory after their initial briefings. The zombie plot will not spill over into this area, this area is safe and unaffected! To face zombies, characters must leave the area, and please move to the event log with those threads.
Warnings: None.

Your arrival here has been very unceremonious. One second you were somewhere else, and now, very suddenly, your feet hit the glowing white of the Transporter pad, and you're here. You aren't alone, either. There's a crowd of others around you, each seeming just as bewildered, angry, or confused as you might feel. At the head of the group is a woman in purple robes, solemn and taciturn. She hurries over a quick overview of your intended purpose here, and gives direct answers when asked for them, but to most things she simply shows you how to access the tablet you've just been given, or tells you that the DITR's greeters will explain everything. On the tablet, you can find the history of this place and a record of what your new cohorts have experienced — although it won't have Network access for another 8 hours. Someone stands on hand to give you a weapon, and though the armory is now greatly reduced, you should be able to find something to suit you.

You're shepherded down a walkway tunnel and into the Observatory, where you will find screens mounted on three sides of the wide room. It's night outside the great wide windows, and the lunar landscape isn't much to look at right now; the only lighting comes from dull red emergency lights, but there are… noises. Listen carefully. Over the voices of your fellow Transports, now and then you might catch the sound of a scrape, or a low and muffled cry. It doesn't sound human. Are there animals up here?

You're free to explore the base, visit and use any of the VR rooms, or discover your new room and roommates, but try not to step out of any airlocks if oxygen is a requirement for your system.

Yeah, he's fine. [He sighs a little -- if he notices the misgender, he doesn't make any indication of it.] Sorry, he just doesn't really like strangers.

[Noishe continues to whine.]

Oh. He. [ She looks a little sheepish for it, but kneels down and holds her hand out. ] It's okay! I am not going to hurt you.

[reunites]

[Noishe sniffs her hand, and whines again, but will allow her to pet him if she likes.]

See, Noishe, friendly, like I said.

[fintastic]

See? I just want to give you all the scratches!

[ Which she does, giving him a little scratch behind the ears. ]

[reunites]

[He's maybe not completely relaxed, but his ears flick and his tail starts to wag a little. Progress, that's all Lloyd needs.]

Looks like you're making a new friend already, Noishe.

[Then, to Feferi:]

Thanks. He just needs to warm up to you, that's all.

[fintastic]

[ She looks up with a smile. ]

It's okay, I understand. Animals can't always understand things the way we can! What is he, anyway?

[reunites]

He's, uh-- [Oh, geez, what's the word? He learned this word, he knows it.] It's a proto... something. Protozoan! That's it. Right, Noishe?

[Noishe whines again, but his tail wags a bit more.]

Yeah, protozoan. But, I mean, I thought he was a dog for a while, so I usually just call him that.

[It's easier to remember.]

He's smart, though. He understands what's happening and everything.

[Well, as much as anyone can, anyway.]

[fintastic]

I've never heard of that! I think I like dog better.

[ It's also easier to say. ]

So his name is Noishe, do you have a name?

[reunites]

[He laughs a little.]

Right, that's important, huh? My name's Lloyd.

[fintastic]

I'm Feferi! It's nice to meet you. If you have any questions, I can probably help.

[reunites]

[His smile turns sheepish.]

Oh, uh.... I mean, yeah, but I don't even really know where to start.

[fintastic]

Your room might be a good start! That is what I recommend if you're feeling a little overwhelmed.

[reunites]

Room? [Oh, well, that makes sense that he'd have one. If here's here for as long as he thinks he's going to be here.] Do they give us one? I didn't hear anything like that when she was talking.

[fintastic]

[ She's still not all too familiar with what the temporary new spiel, but that strikes her as weird. ]

They didn't assign you a room? Really?

[reunites]

[He suddenly looks a little panicked. Had they? He'd spaced out halfway through for a little while.

In his defense, it was a lot of information.]

I-- maybe? [oh god] Am I gonna have to go around looking for it now?

[fintastic]

No, no, it's okay! I can find out for you! Don't panic, if they didn't give you a room you can just take one you like! That's what I did.

[ Actually she took a closet but close enough. ]

[reunites]

Is there room for that? [He looks warily at all the people around them.] It seems pretty... small here.

[He figures they don't just have beds laying around everywhere.]

[fintastic]

There's plenty of space in the housing wings! Why don't you wait here for a second, and I will go see if I can find your key?

[reunites]

Are you sure? If it's not hard to find, I don't mind just going and looking later. It's my room, after all.

[fintastic]

It'll just take a minute, I promise! Just stay right there!

[ It's too late, she's already gone... only temporarily though! ]

[reunites]

Oh, uh--!

[Nope, she's gone.

Lloyd glances awkwardly around the room for a second, but does as he's told and stays put.]

[fintastic]

[ She comes back barely two minutes later with a number-labeled key in hand, holding it out to him. ]

Here you go! It must have gotten lost in the shuffle. It happens sometimes, we've had so many people coming in every month lately.

[reunites]

-- Wow, thanks! [THAT IS SUPER NICE. He takes it, and makes a show of putting into his pocket.] I'll make sure I hold on to it, I promise.

[fintastic]

Good! If you want, I can take you there. It can be good to sit down and catch your breath.

[reunites]

Maybe for a little while. I dunno if I can sit in one place after everything that's happened.
