Date: November 1st
Location: The Observatory.
Characters: Everyone.
Summary: New Transports arrive and are shuffled into the Observatory after their initial briefings. The zombie plot will not spill over into this area, this area is safe and unaffected! To face zombies, characters must leave the area, and please move to the event log with those threads.
Warnings: None.
Your arrival here has been very unceremonious. One second you were somewhere else, and now, very suddenly, your feet hit the glowing white of the Transporter pad, and you're here. You aren't alone, either. There's a crowd of others around you, each seeming just as bewildered, angry, or confused as you might feel. At the head of the group is a woman in purple robes, solemn and taciturn. She hurries over a quick overview of your intended purpose here, and gives direct answers when asked for them, but to most things she simply shows you how to access the tablet you've just been given, or tells you that the DITR's greeters will explain everything. On the tablet, you can find the history of this place and a record of what your new cohorts have experienced — although it won't have Network access for another 8 hours. Someone stands on hand to give you a weapon, and though the armory is now greatly reduced, you should be able to find something to suit you.
You're shepherded down a walkway tunnel and into the Observatory, where you will find screens mounted on three sides of the wide room. It's night outside the great wide windows, and the lunar landscape isn't much to look at right now; the only lighting comes from dull red emergency lights, but there are… noises. Listen carefully. Over the voices of your fellow Transports, now and then you might catch the sound of a scrape, or a low and muffled cry. It doesn't sound human. Are there animals up here?
You're free to explore the base, visit and use any of the VR rooms, or discover your new room and roommates, but try not to step out of any airlocks if oxygen is a requirement for your system.
Welcome to the moon base, and to the remains of Exsilium.
[[ ooc; As a note for players of current characters: please keep your root comments confined to the various groups and organizations that set up root comments to greet new characters! We highly encourage tagging around here, but since it's a log meant for new characters specifically, we ask that they be the ones to set up root threads to the entry. Thank you, and happy playing! ]]

Darth Maul | Star Wars | ota
Aside from the crisp purple and black (which he now knew had no relationship to his first consideration), it was the key words of weapon with the additional guarantee of 'evolving to fit you' and the continuation toward an interesting tangle of politics that kept the Iridonian from making any fuss in sight of his vague interest.
After being left alone to his own devices, Maul simply takes slides through the crowd of people taking note of anything interesting. The Force was chaotic here. It would take some adjusting. ]

Unsurprisingly, she finds no familiar faces. But she does notice an unfamiliar one that interests her and because she has no manners or inhibitions, she's just going to go ahead and blurt out what she's thinking. ]
Hey weirdo, nice - [ Were those tattoos, or his skin? She was unsure, so during her quick pause in speech she just sort of makes a circular hand movement in from of her own face as she decides on, ] uh, face.
no subject
This is unlikely to be anything known by the one commenting on his face. He is, quite honestly, baffled by the comment for a second. Even though they weren't common around many parts of the core everyone knew what an Iridonian looked like and it was never very wise to irritate one. Not just that, honestly, the comment itself seemed so juvenile.
Yet he managed to bypass his confusion fairly quickly in favor of the inevitable irritation. One gloved hand extended as he reached out into the force with intentions of lifting her from the ground with an uncomfortable invisible grip around her neck. Just enough to make her squirm a bit, he'd think should do.
But his voice sounds calm enough: ] It is almost humoring how similar bravery and stupidity are sometimes.
no subject
Her hands fly to her throat with the intentions of ripping away whatever it was gripping her there, only to discover there was nothing physical. Oh great, she's pissed off some kind of sorcerer. A touchy one too, apparently, but she doesn't voice that thought because she's got something more important to hiss out right now. ]
What the fuck are you doing!
[ She can still breathe and all so she isn't necessarily panicked, but she is very clearly annoyed and trying to struggle against whatever the fuck it is he's doing to her. If his intentions are to make her literally squirm under the invisible pressure on her throat, well, he's achieved his goal because Apollo's little wings are flapping furiously as she fidgets, trying to figure out how to fight what she could only assume was magic with physical movements. ]

He tips his head at least intrigued by the manner in which she reacts. Full and ready to retaliate if she had the means to, he sees. Not fearing, precisely. Not fearing much at all if at all, no. She is a fighter, rather. Well, at least that warrants her some points.
Unperturbed by her shouting, he chuckles a bit to the half-frantic squirming. From how she reacts its almost as though she is completely unused to people striking out when they don't like what comes from (what he assumes is likely) her uncensored mouth. Proof, he supposes, that the rarity of those who stand their own in any and all circumstances is a rarity everywhere.
But after a moment he releases the grip after a short and possibly frightening tightening that might have almost felt like it was only going to get worse. ] Your ignorance picked the wrong direction to be pointed at.
no subject
There's a wheeze and a cough as she sucks in an unrestrained breath of air, hunched over a bit as she regains her footing. ]
Yeah well sometimes my ignorance kinda runs off to make friends in the only way it knows how, y'know? Ah - augh, [ Another raw sounding cough. ] Gods aldickin'mighty that was fuckin' rude as shit.
[ Yeah, says the one who annoyed him in the first place. It is clearer in her body language now as she straightens herself up that she's much more guarded and defensive, even though she's still cocky and stupid enough to continue being a smartass, going so far as to breath out a short laugh. ] That how you say hi to all the ladies or am I just fuckin' special?
no subject
There's a small tug at one corner of his lip but he otherwise says nothing to her claim of his rude behavior. Still she keeps on and perhaps that also warrants his amusement. Congratulations, Apollo. Whether or not piquing Maul's interest is a good thing is wildly unknown but you have. ]
Special is a word for it.
no subject
[ The sarcasm in her voice is indication enough that she probably isn't actually tickled pink or anything of the sort, just keeping up her asshole routine as a weird sort of defense. Had he walked over and punched her in the face she probably would have caused an incredible fucking scene by now, but where he had used what she was assuming to be powerful magic, she was reacting differently. Apollo was entirely physical, relying on brute strength and weaponry and honestly, she still hadn't quite figured out how to deal with offensive magic. ]
Y'know, most girls are charmed by flowers, jewelry and big cocks though, so next time you might wanna fuckin' skip the magical choking n' go for somethin' more traditional, yeah? [ Here she goes spewing out her bullshit again, although the entire time she does so she looks pretty defensive, and maybe even a bit confrontational. She knows now that he's got some power to him so she is watching him like a hawk and her body looks ready to snap into a fighting stance in an instant. Despite her ruffled feathers, however, she's been very resilient in standing her ground this entire time - not once has she stepped back or advanced, showing him both bullheadedness and defiance. ]
no subject
The slightest mark of amusement twists his features enough for her to see. Whatever attempt she was making to retaliate, if such an attempt was being made or if she was simply doing it for her own emotional benefit - it wasn't working so much. Probably because he really did not care about what most girls liked. Please, really. Does it look like he goes for 'average'?
Besides, even with her sarcasm aside that was really not at all how his species determined worth ha ha ha, no. That's hardly the point of all this, he thinks and snorts a laugh. ] Are you done?
no subject
I dunno, might be.
[ Despite her response, naw she's pretty much done. For now. Apollo wasn't one to give up on pestering people when she was on a roll or enjoying herself and their reactions, but with Maul, well. She wasn't entirely sure if she would be entertained by what he'd do if she poked at him further. Still though, she doesn't lose her inherent boldness and flashes him a brief, fake and forced smile when she notices a glimmer of amusement in him. The woman knows damn well that she's being scrutinized, and to that she responds with an attitude that seems to spell out something along the lines of fuckin' go for it asshole.
Really, it was a wonder nobody had murdered her years ago. ]
no subject
And now that you have his attention, you poor girl. He will return her lack of common decency for his own: ] What are you? Not unused to unfavorable odds, I see.
no subject
[ For a moment she considers making up some stupid shit about what she is, but ultimately she decides to tell the truth. It's not like it's something that she ever seriously tries to hide anyway, considering her species is fairly common in her world. ]
A mutt. Kinda watered down, but still a human gryphon hybrid. [ A pause as she looks him over, remembering that not everyone here knows what a gryphon is and noting that he in particular looks uh, pretty foreign. ] Basically you got human, bird, and feline with me. So what about you, sugar? Gonna tell me what your face means now or areya just gonna invisichoke me out again like an asshole?

all and all the variety of people and their differences weren't something that bothered him. there were far more different creatures that lived among the Nine Realms than he could ever count, and their audiences were oft requested by the All-Mother for their republic. government things he usually listened into but never interfered in (except with the blackmail, there was always something).
but right now.

Maul had settled himself against a wall and strangely seemed to have gone relatively unnoticed by many people. He continues to watch and listen (also feeling something negative and strange in the distance that nags at his interest) but something else has caught those yellow bloodshot eyes.
It's hardly the act that piques him - the stealing of whatever (carnivore, excuse him) - but it's what he feels about this child. Something incredibly chaotic. ]

for a moment the hairs on the back of Loki's neck prick, and he glances over his shoulder to find a peculiar horned fellow staring at him.
Loki stares back.

Oh, hello. Welcome and greetings and all of that appropriate stuff.
Have a Midgardian baked good. This one has sprinkles.
[and he waves the cookie up with a gloved hand, back and forth with his wrist. no fear, this one.]
Quite the crowd, eh? Our captors must be an eclectic bunch.

I have seen more variety [ he comments ] I must wonder what the parameters for their search are, or if they hold bias toward certain kinds.

You believe that they've some sort of criteria for abduction? Perhaps they merely press a lot of buttons until we all show up. There hardly seems a reason for it.

[well, that certainly makes it easier to talk to him, and a bit easier to keep his voice down. you know, like this whole exchange is really some kind of secret.]

Interesting, though, is certainly a word that could be used to apply to people with bright red and black faces. He's been all around the universe, but he's never seen that before. Among all the intelligent guesses, though-]
Hey, you with the- uh, face? [Nice one, Quill, that was polite.] You don't happen to be an Inhuman, do you?
no subject
Bloodshot yellows look toward the source with a calmness yet a scrutiny. Felt human enough (but again, the Force is so chaotic right now. It's difficult for him to truly understand it currently). Not a uniform he recognized either.
Inhumane, maybe he somewhat humors himself before bothering to actually answer. ] I am not classified as Inhuman, no. But to the egotism of many humans, I am Alien.
[ Which rubs him just a little even though his Master is human. The entire concept. Many species remained secluded to their own area and region and were nowhere near the numbers of humankind. Zabrak were not one of those species, however. Easily rivaled human in number, merely often remained away from the more common spaces in which humans dwell. ]
