Rest if you need to...
Date & Time: November 6th
Location: The clinic
Characters: Feferi Peixes
fintastic and Altaïr ibn La-Ahad
theflyingone
Summary: 12th century assassin meets a troll for the first time.
Warnings: Talk of recent space zombie invasion probably
Unsurprisingly, Altaïr had used up his supply of bandages. The creatures that had appeared in the Agriculture Wing had been unlike anyone – rather, anything – he'd fought before. His training as an Assassin had not anticipated reanimated corpses, but it had stressed being adaptable and prepared for anything. And he is still alive, if a bit battered.
Speaking of being prepared, he intends to restock at the clinic. He enters, but instead of staring at the unfamiliar objects and technology, he notices (how can he not) a girl with grey skin and horns. What...
There are all sorts of people here, he knows that, but this is unprecedented. His curiosity gets the better of him. He wonders if he can just... sort of... drift over for a closer look...

She's tending to some files in a drawer when she hears someone enter and looks up Giving him a quick once-over and doesn't see any profuse bleeding, and gives a smile.
"Hi there! Can I help you?"

Yes. I need some bandages and ointment. Extra, if you can spare it. It would be wise to carry some on me should something like those creatures attack again.
[ There is that ever-present solemn chill to his voice, but it is lightened with a measured earnestness. ]

Actually we have some first aid kits for situations exactly like that! I can give you one of those, it has everything useful in it!

[ People walk onto that pad and disappear. They do come back, but... he doesn't feel ready to try dangerous, unfamiliar machines and trust his life to those who have kept him here against his will. ]

[ She comes up with the kit and offers it out. ]
It's pretty fun, and you get to see all kinds of different places and times on Earth, plus you get to do something useful!

[ He doesn't trust the Initiative with transporting him in such a strange way to unfamiliar lands. What if their machine broke and he couldn't get back? What if they realized his intentions and marked him for death? It would be easy to disguise his death as a simple malfunction of the Transporter.
And then there were the space zombies. ]
Just days ago we were attacked by monsters. I think I will stay here and lend my blade until I know there aren't any more unwanted surprises.
[ Coming back to a base full of corpses is not his idea of fun. He'd feel terrible if he let such a thing come to pass. He scowls. ]
What were the Initiative thinking, bringing us here?

[ She gives him a partly confused look. Not that she isn't used to people saying that sort of thing, but she's a little tired of hearing it, too. ]
They brought us here to help fight the UE, so our worlds don't get destroyed.

[ He can't blame them for those undead creatures (or can he? Was it a setup?), but being shanghaied against his will was enough. Months ago, he risked his life to free slaves consigned to the same fate, taken far from their homes to serve the Templars' mad schemes. He shakes his head restlessly. ]
And what's this about our worlds? Aren't they only invested in their own?
[ Why would the Initiative say their worlds were in danger? Surely the UE isn't trying to steal the Transporter and mount an attack on their home worlds. But the idea enters his thoughts, because he must take all possibilities into account. His training would have been for nothing if he didn't. ]
