( open ) happy moonsgiving, everyone! (forward dated to 11/15)

Date & Time: All Day, November 15th, 3313
Location: Focused centrally on the Moon Base Cafeteria.
Characters: Any and all!
Summary: It's a feast on the moon under the guise of being a new sort of Thanksgiving! Food, drink, merriment, food comas... lend a helping hand, fill a few plates of goodies, and meet friends new and old!
Warnings: None right now. Please PM this account should anything go beyond a "my grandmother is also reading this and that is okay" level of appropriate.
Notes: Tag in action or prose, and please specify a time of day, location, or activity your character is participating in! (Set-up, the feast, clean up, etc.) Feel free to offer multiple prompts, as your heart desires! Also, Collette is asking for people to write something they're thankful for on butchers paper on the wall before getting their first plate of food. This is 100% optional!

In the morning, the setting up begins. It's hard to say what's a morning versus what isn't on the moon, but using the lighting system as a sort of guide, those who offered to help set up the feast or continue on with the cooking will all be there bright and early.

After things are cleaned, the cooking continues on while further set up of plateware and silverware and hard to break glasses are left to those helping hands with a mind for arrangement details. The whole of one section has been converted into a sort of buffet-style lineup, waiting for the dishes to be complete and set at ready. All varieties of the usual dietary fare have been offered, some in greater quantities than others.

Then comes the time where people stopping by or trickling in aren't just turned around or co-opted into assisting; it's feast time, though not before an announcement that each person getting a plate of food must write at least one thing they're thankful for on a large sheet of butcher paper taped up to the wall. There's a variety of colored markers and pens provided, from someone's personal (and eclectic) collection. It's a soft price to pay for free food and plenty of it!

When the feasting has wound down, so begins the clean up. Tired, drunk, well fed, over fed, or simply content, people will be shuffled out or dragged into helping turn the cafeteria back into working, normal form. What decorations were added will need collecting (or stealing), plates and dishes and cooking implements and pots and pans will need washing, and floors a good sweeping and waterless mopping before things are all back in order. Leftovers, if there are any, will need to be placed in sealable containers and put into refrigeration.

And then, blissfully unaware of anything impending on the horizon, to bed, or different haunts, for the night.

"Really? Because I seem to be doing just fine with three so far."

Despite all the setbacks with the loss of Exsilium, that hasn't managed to fully kill off all of his ego. He still has those few successes to cling to. The end of the wash cycle draws his attention from that, though, and he groans once he sees the inside of the dish washer.

"There's so many of them..."

She reaches for one, but withdraws her hand a second later after her finger presses against the edge of a plate that burns hot. About half a minute after, she pulls the tray out and begins to hand the plates over to Caesar.

"Careful with them. We don't want to go on missions for plates."

And then his arms were slowly but surely filling with plates. There's a lost look about him for a few seconds as he tries to figure out the next step to this. Look, despite being here for so long, he's always had someone else handle this sort of thing! The cleaning thing.

This typically included dishes!

"Uh." Boy can steal a spaceship, but he can't put a damn plate away. "They go in the cupboards, right?"

She's rather curious by his bafflement at what to do with the plates and wonders if he had roommates back in Exsilium, how they didn't boot him out for not holding up his end of the chores. Provided they had any.

"That's where plates go when not in use." She picks up a few and neatly piles them into the cupboard. "Did you have someone else to do this back home?"

He would leave them in the sink until someone else did them! Or, in the worst situations, clean them and leave them out in the other part of the sink, which may not have been all that much better.

Overall, it was something to be avoided.

"The house had a staff for this kind of stuff," he answers with a shrug, turning towards the cupboard to begin putting dishes away as well. "And I can see why. This is all so dull."

A whole staff? Reminds her of how Catherine prepared for dinners or parties. She would be chasing around hired help from top to bottom of the house and grounds to make sure everything is in place and no, the senator hates sevruga!

While she lives a glamorous life back home, she doesn't miss that aspect of it much.

"Chores aren't meant to be exciting," she piles more into place. "Everyone would want to do them, then."

Well, probably just a kitchen maid or something. There were lots of things to do around there! For everyone else, anyway. Not so much Caesar. Regardless of what was, though, he'll just keep on putting dishes away as she stacks them up from out of the washers.

"And that's exactly why chores should be delegated. Where's Gilbert? He'd be all over this."

"Dishes are a lot easier to handle than putting together various missions," she cocks her head toward him, arching a surprised brow.

"Easier doesn't even factor into it. It's more like coming home from a job and seeing you have to clean up after a bunch of people. Just because you did something big doesn't mean you want to turn around and do all this small stuff," is his reply.

Is it really that surprising? Of what he can be lazy about, it's definitely going to be the small stuff. It can always wait.
