"Neither," she says, quirking up her eyebrows. She leaves Christopher with these things she cannot touch for now, telling herself to remember, and find the day she can. "I prefer not to let people being jerks hurt other people being jerks. I have friends on both sides," she points out. "I want to save as much as I can. Which is harder than it looks."

Said with a sigh, because it's not telling him that it's hard -- it's admitting it out loud to herself.
