The statement “Let’s go to Vegas” exists as the multiverse’s quintessential definition of, “well it seemed like a good idea at the time.” Even in this case, it really had, between zombies, insurrection, and the day to day tedium of life on the moon. Besides which, Xerxes Break has a new sentient (sentient-er) weapon, which in a stunning show of good judgement is too dangerous to test on the moonbase, nor in any concentration of people. Las Vegas, set against the backdrop of the vast, desolate Mojave desert, seemed to be a perfect choice.

When our heroes wink into existence, squinting against the early-morning desert sunshine, they’ll find themselves duly welcomed. Come play in the casino. When you feel a bit peckish, indulge in all you can eat. Take your winnings and go shopping; at night, take in a show. And if you’ve done really well gambling, unwind in a ridiculously luxurious suite.

[ Although Alice is enamored of the dazzling meat selection, the dessert offerings are just as splendid. Cakes, pies, beautifully-decorated petits fours, jello with marshmallows, fruit tarts, eclairs, and baked Alaska: all are spread out at the end of the buffet, a dizzying selection.

However, should Allen attempt to select one of these delectable plates, it will seem to just... move out of his grasp. ]

[He returns for desserts soon enough. If he had seven arms, he'd just grab it all, but alas, he was cursed with only two. He's reaching for the petits fours first and--

GRABBING FOR THEM AGAIN] Eh??

Only now it's mysteriously devoid of petits fours. ]

[THIS ISN'T WHAT HE WANTED]

Wha- where did they-?! Oi! [ he's straining to see over the buffet table, and leaning to peek around it. is somebody there. ]

[ Break pops up like a Jack-in-the-box. Emily even makes a boing! noise. ]

[ Ah, the sweet, sweet sensation of one of his victims flailing. It’s almost as sweet as the plate of eclairs he is presently tipping into his mouth. ]

[ He relents, balancing several plates of cream puffs in one hand. He begins to offer it to Allen....


...and then, of course, snatches it away. ]

Oh, by the way. How are things going with Miss Rosette?

[HUFF. He grabs the plate of fruit tarts instead!

And then pauses, settling down a bit.]

I spoke to her. It went well...

She hasn't blown anything up recently, to my knowledge.
