It seemed like a good idea at the time...
Date & Time: 2698, fin-de-millenium, just prior to the formation of the United Earth
Location: Las Vegas
Characters: Break, Kevin, Gilbert, Oz, Elliot, Alice, Allen, Lenalee, Rosette, Chrono, Chrysos
Summary: Fear and loathing
Warnings: Showgirls and Gilbert weeping.
The statement “Let’s go to Vegas” exists as the multiverse’s quintessential definition of, “well it seemed like a good idea at the time.” Even in this case, it really had, between zombies, insurrection, and the day to day tedium of life on the moon. Besides which, Xerxes Break has a new sentient (sentient-er) weapon, which in a stunning show of good judgement is too dangerous to test on the moonbase, nor in any concentration of people. Las Vegas, set against the backdrop of the vast, desolate Mojave desert, seemed to be a perfect choice.
When our heroes wink into existence, squinting against the early-morning desert sunshine, they’ll find themselves duly welcomed. Come play in the casino. When you feel a bit peckish, indulge in all you can eat. Take your winnings and go shopping; at night, take in a show. And if you’ve done really well gambling, unwind in a ridiculously luxurious suite.
…or is this how you’re spending the night?
Thirty-six hours in Vegas, what could possibly go wrong?
(ooc: feel free to start threads willy-nilly, name your time and place, threadjack and mingle)

ok i think i'm done...
JUMPING TO HIS FEET.]
BREAK!
[GET BACK HERE SO HE CAN STRANGLE YOU.]
gorgeous
[ what the hell, man! ]
no subject
—Nothing!
[Internal screaming as he just. kicks the rubbers under the bed.
No wait he can't leave them there—
Fuck his life. Reluctantly crouching down again. And attempting to head off any questions before she can even ask by hopefully distracting her maybe,]
We'll definitely get you more chocolates later, don't worry.
[Non-alcoholic chocolates.]
no subject
It isn't subtle.]
Are those...?
no subject
AND SHOVING CONDOMS IN HIS POCKET???]
What! [ voice cracking, falsetto ] L-lenalee, you should lie back down!
[GO TO BED LENALEE, YOU'RE DRUNK.]
no subject
Those are contraceptives.
WITH EARS TURNING A DELIGHTFUL CRIMSON:] Throw those away!
no subject
pause, then, for good measure:] Throw them away right now!

Lenalee, did I drop my key... in...

SORRY! I'LL JUST!! SORRY!

Miss Rosette...
What is she-]
No! [ IT'S NOT WHATEVER YOU THINK IT LOOKS LIKE ]
no subject
Rosette!
no subject
[But Rosette is gone, just as quick. And Allen is left with a handful of contraceptives, Lenalee at his back, and a fervent desire to go crawl in a hole and expire.
Silently, he rises to his feet once more, and steps heavily around her. Some part of him may have already died.]
I'm throwing them away.
no subject
When is this trip over?
no subject
Not soon enough.
[The moment he gets this thing open, he is defenestrating the offending packets.]
no subject
It slides.
no subject
So it does.
He slides it up with one hand, and with the other, releases the condoms into the wind like so many delicate foil petals. They flutter merrily down a number of stories, raining upon some lucky Joe below.
And he slams the window shut.
And stands there with his hands on the sill and his head ducked down, steadying his own breath.]
I forgot what I came in here for.
no subject
Well, don't go running off again. It's getting late [ presumably, as it's still neon-bright outside, and she's... forgotten the digital clock on the nightstand, actually (.11:37) ] and we've still another morning ahead of us. I wish you all hadn't scattered like you did.
no subject
Did we scatter? [ he'd been too busy eating and gambling to even try to keep track... he lifts a hand to rub the back of his neck. ] Sorry. They'll all return here to sleep soon, I should think.
no subject
no subject
He heads back towards where she is.]
A bit like herding cats, huh...?
I won't run off on you tomorrow. We can try to wrangle the others in.
no subject
no subject
Oh no she's
cute
but also drunk.]
Likewise.
You should get some rest, Lenalee.
