you came on your own, that's how you'll leave
Date & Time: 8/13-ish?
Location: some bar somewhere in the Hold
Characters: Roslyn & Tony
Summary: So how about that drinking as a method of coping with being forced to relive bad memories, huh.
Warnings: discussion of violence I imagine.
[ She hasn't been drinking constantly. But at night, heading to one of the quieter bars, the ones that the other transports don't seem to frequent - well, it's easier. Easier than sleeping, easier than not sleeping, a faster way to forgetfulness.
And that's what she wants. This entire place, this entire thing with the Initiative and the constant fuck-ups - as far as she's concerned, right now it can all just go to hell.
She sees Stark nearly as soon as he comes in the door - he's kind of hard to miss - and sighs and orders another drink for herself. Part of the point of being here was that she wouldn't have to talk to or look at anyone else who knew about that whole utter mess.
It's possible he won't notice her, and at the moment that's what she's hoping for. ]

... Oh. Well, yeah, that's a pretty big lie there, and not one she feels inclined to follow up with at all. She matches his smiles with a return to her calmly neutral expression, lifts her hand for another glass because there goes that good judgment out the window. ]
Truth. Not risking movement either.
no subject
although he didn't mean to actually sober things down that much. whoops. he's glad he could make sure you keep drinking. ]
Movement is bad. I think it's happening whether I want it to or not though. Every time I move my head. What are you afraid of, and if you're boring and say 'death' you have to specify what kind.
no subject
and she's definitely still drinking at this point, because you know what why not. ]
Room spinning? [ hey that's - urgh. she sighs. ] I'm not afraid of dying. I'm afraid of surviving when others died for or because of me. [ said as straightforwardly as possible. ] Truth or dare.
no subject
so he's quiet for a moment as yinsen, right. ]
Dare. [ too much truth for a while. ]
no subject
Nobody can really accuse them of being good at this.
Also it takes her a little while to come up with anything, because that requires thinking and thinking is getting harder. ]
Serenade somebody in this room.
no subject
If they're at a table can I do the whole table?
no subject
Yes. That would count.
no subject
But okay, right. He's got to stand up for this. He can do that. And actually, he can, he can stand pretty well, he's got lots of practice standing up and walking and moving and acting like he isn't half as drunk as he actually is.
BUT GUESS WHAT HE SINGS. I can be your hero baby. Aw yeah. Very apropos. And because he's also RDJ I claim reasonably well that he sings well, albeit not the way that one might expect him to be singing. Hoarser. But well anyway. So. He winds up totally not stumbling back over - and actually sort of not stumbling, mostly - but he slides back into the chair after a vaguely convincing performance. ] What'd you think?
no subject
She hides a smile in her drink and listens, even tapping her foot at appropriate amounts, and golf claps for a little bit when he returns. ]
Nicely done. Good pitch. Or tone, whichever one it's called.
no subject
he raises whatever's left in his glass in salute. ]
Why thank you, thank you. I have no idea. I didn't have the vocal track at school.
no subject
she raises her glass back, takes a sip, and then cracks her neck and eyes the rest of it. ]
Truth.
no subject
although he's about to just ask for some water because goddamn. maybe a little too much. ]
First kiss.
no subject
Uhhh. [ beat, squinting as she thinks back. ] If you mean first genuine kiss, my ROTC platoon leader freshman year of college. Jean. Lovely girl, great breasts, we hooked up at a party and pretended it never happened.
no subject
Not bad, not bad, for the first time. Actually that's pretty good for any time, doesn't have to be so confined. Jean. Nice name, although yours is easier to remember.
no subject
Yes, I quite thought it was. Mine's easier to remember? [ Mildly, and then without really waiting for an answer. ] Truth or dare?
no subject
Your name. 'Roslyn' stands out in the memory easier than 'Jean'.
no subject
It's not too common, true. Are you drinking water?
no subject
Yeah. Water's good.
no subject
No argument here. I was just starting to think you had an inhuman tolerance for alcohol.
