[Closed] Lions, and tigers, and bears! Oh, my!
Date & Time: Somewhere in 1939, then somewhere in 2013. And all during October 18th. Time travel.
Location: United States. Kansas maybe?
Characters: Ella Ellis and Caspian.
Summary: They go to see a movie, then they buy the movie.
Warnings: None.
[ So they had met once Ella traveled down to Earth, although she didn't stick around too much, since the plan was to leave as soon as possible to the past to catch the movie. The original one, mind you, in some late thirties cinema among a bunch of people that didn't know the first thing about DVDs and how you never watch a movie without popcorn and a sizable cup of soda. Maybe they had the popcorn, but most certainly not the soda.
But it was the real deal, the authentic experience, and she knew that was what Caspian wanted. She would've been more than willing to just buy the stupid DVD (which she was going to anyway) and watch it with him...but that would involve watching it with him, somewhere quiet, probably dark. Alone. No, Ella couldn't do that, it looked too much like a date, and this was not a date. At all. Nope. They would be in the middle of a crowd of people anyway, and the movie was less than romantic. Everything was going to be fine.
There was the matter of the dressing code, but Ella only needed some research before making her and Caspian suitable clothes for the time period. Still, it was probably like the third time in her life she had worn a dress, and boy wasn't she hoping she never had to do that again. Still, from the moment she and Caspian traveled back and stepped into the busy streets of wherever they were (Kansas? Irony?) she couldn't help but smile like an idiot.
Which brought them to now.
Now, as they wait outside the theater (seeing as how they got there slightly earlier, time travel be damned), Ella is feeling all sorts of nervous and excited. It's not the first time she has gone to the movies with friends, but it's the first time she has gone alone with a boy- a man, actually, because Caspian doesn't really look like a boy- which is, well, slightly intimidating. Maybe she should've brought more people, but oh well, it's too late for that.
Looking back at Caspian, she smiles shyly, words failing her. Stop the presses, boys and girls, Ella Ellis suddenly has nothing to say. ]

He looks at Ella and returns her smile.]
That is a very nice dress! [Because he has manners, after all, and a gentleman always compliments the lady he's with. Kings have reputations to uphold.]
How will this work? Is it like the VR rooms on the moonbase? Do we go inside and into the world of the movie? Or do we watch it on screens, like the tablet?
[No worries, Ella. Caspian has lots of questions to get you talking.]
no subject
Well, these people are barely out of inventing color movies so it might be a bit too soon for VR Rooms. In fact, I think The Wonderful Wizard of Oz was the first movie to be made on color, which is kind of awesome.
[ She manages to smile back at Caspian, trying not to blush. Too much. ]
I watched a bit of the beginning once, and I was actually having fun, so I think you'll enjoy it.
no subject
[Black and white is going to blow his mind. Speaking of in color, Caspian finds that blush kind of adorably charming! He kind of awkwardly pats her shoulder.]
I am sure I will enjoy it very much. I already have excellent company.
no subject
[ She hasn't seen many black and white movies, but they're...different.
Also you're not helping with the blush, Caspian, but Ella manages to keep it cool. ]
That's sweet of you. I'm happy to have brought you here, anyway.

Is it almost time to go in yet? [This waiting is hard, although staring at his surroundings is still very entertaining.
He glances back to Ella, smiling.]
I am very glad you brought me as well. It's good to have a companion by your side in new adventures.
I have no idea of a movie theater looked in 1939 HALP
Yep, in we go. And let me know if you still feel that way at the end of your little movie adventure.
[ So she gestures him inside. ]
I asked Mr. Google!
He sits in the first of the pair of seats the usher points out, "for you and your girl" and he's a little redfaced over that (because is this a courting ritual? He sees other couples entering the theater and he wonders and hopes Ella doesn't mind that insinuation!), but turns and smiles when Ella sits down beside him.]
This is a very grand place! Like a theater for plays! [Which they do have in Narnia, so at least the concept of people acting on stage is not unfamiliar to him.
He points down at the screen.] And that is where we'll see the Kansas story?
[Keep it down, Caspian, people will start staring!]
thanks Mr. Google!
And they were paying like ten times less they would usually do in the present time. Her present time at least.
Much of the niceness of the place kind of disappears when she hears that "for you and your girl" comment, since she's too busy feeling like her face is about to explode. Still, Ella manages to sit and be quiet, eventually getting over it. ]
Yeah, any moment now. So, you know...keep your voice down for a little bit.
[ She can't help but smile though, smile at him most of the time. ]

He does whisper a few things to Ella during the film - mostly commentary on witches, both of the good and bad varieties, and how talking lions DO NOT LOOK LIKE THAT, thank you very much. And when the flying monkeys are on screen, he reaches for her hand.
Sorry, they're just THAT creepy.
When the movie finally ends, he's still holding her hand, and he turns to her with an enormous grin.]
That was marvelous!

Ella does try to answer his doubts and try to keep it down but then he reaches for her hand and really, Ella is going to need to watch this movie again, alone...but she's probably going to blush furiously every time she sees flying monkeys now.
She has managed to somehow cool her shit by the end of the movie though. ]
Pretty amazing huh? Nothing beats the real deal, I guess.
[ And a moment later. ]
I hope you liked it.
no subject
[Yeah, forgive him for not letting go of her hand, because right now he's going to squeeze it a little.]
Liked it? I loved it! Thank you so much for this journey, Ella. [He's practically beaming with pleasure, all directed at her.]
no subject
[ In a weird moment of clarity, Ella squeezes back. ]
Hey, I loved it too, so I gotta thank you for coming with me. Let's do it again sometime.
no subject
Yes, let's do that! And we can watch together when we're back! If you would like, of course.
[He doesn't want to be too forward. Is that a thing people do together? Watch movies?]
I would love to do this again with you.

[ They can go in a million not-dates. ]
no subject
[And the company. A million not-dates sounds very good to him.
He glances around the theater, noticing the people leaving.]
It seems to be time to go. Shall we?
