Location: Japan during the late 16th century!

Summary: Saving rice, fighting insects!!

Summer at its height: a middle-sized village on the outskirts of a province in the midst of a famine with almost wilting half-grown rice crops after their river for some reason ran dry.

With taxes to pay and war nearing or already at their borders, the people of the village though friendly are weary and in despair over their future.

[Carol can only gawk when she sees the whip lash out and nearly take out the bowman, but when she sees the wagon stop and its passengers reaching for their weapons, she quickly hides in Sesshoumaru's shadow. She doesn't have much of a choice but to trust this newcomer, whoever he is.

The angry shouting from the other bandits causes her cower, trying to make herself smaller in hopes that the bandits won't notice her there.]

[Of course they're going to reach for their weapons. No matter how he looks, Sesshoumaru can't quite hide his demon nature, and these men know it. So it's no longer a matter of robbing him and leaving the girl behind and heading towards the village; it's become a matter of pride and honor to the bandits to rid themselves of the dog demon.
