What had begun as the idea of two became the realization of at least seven — all landlord approved and with nods of approval from neighboring apartment buildings. It didn't even take up a full block, but it was full enough to attract attention of passers-by on the morning hustle to work, saddling them up with something worth spreading to others along the grapevine throughout the day.

Mostly clothes and household items easily given up, but here and there a few gems. A would-be Initiative member had no need for old board games or a guitar or two, and there would be no time to take care of a pet, even one so curious and darling as Blinky. Now and then, its soon-to-be-ex-owner cast a sorrowful glance its way, only to get a slow, out-of-synch blink in response.

Oh, Blinky.

Parting woes aside, business wasn't bad! With the shabby state of affairs in Exsilium, the chance for something new, even a hand-me-down, always sparked interest. And with so many strange, new recruits, there was bound to be someone curious enough to drop down the cash for the most absorbent fabric ever made (those Germans made good stuff)...

And so, after the work buses left the area, the tables went up and the wares were put out until the workday would come to a close and force the tables out of the street. Someone was bound to score something worthwhile in that time over those three days...!

[ Oh that's very nice of Adam, Vanadi would either not enjoy a takedown, or enjoy it too much. So really, better for everyone involved that he managed to restrain himself. He doesn't move away at all, only straightens a little to stand next to him, rather than the creepy behind-loom. ]

Consider it caught. [ yeah right, totally not changing his ways in any shape or form. ] It's a bit ugly. Are you certain you want to put the effort into it?

[ Well it's cool Vanadi, just carry on because sooner or later you will get punched. Probably sooner. He looks down at the robot toy again; he's certainly seen uglier and hell, he actually likes antique stuff... though okay, this is robot dog. There's nothing particularly classy about that. ]

It gives me something to do. And I'm sure some kid will have fun with it anyway, despite it not meeting whatever your criteria is for a nice looking toy.

[ Hopefully with a fist made of sturdier things than flesh and bone, otherwise it might hurt said fist! Vanadi would be all sorts of sad if someone he liked got hurt punching him. ]

Kitrian children tended to have things more... elegant, with a few more colors to them. Ah, but I suppose a human child would be perfectly happy with it. I'm sure it's a good idea. [ He doesn't sound totally convinced, just humoring. ]

[ Oh your concern is touching but don't worry Adam's fists are more than sturdy.

Also, he subtly steps to the side to get some distance between himself and Vanadi because seriously, stop invading people's personal bubbles. ]

Kitrian? So you don't consider yourself human.

Well, of course not. [ He offers a smile, exaggerated to show off his pointed teeth. And when he's done: ] There aren't many humans with teeth like these, I think!

[ Hey there are probably some people who get their teeth augmented, too. Adam frowns at that, though it's barely visible. So you're a shark man, aha. ]

No, probably not. [ Did you hope to impress him? He's so not, and turns his attention back to the toy. But still speaks to him. ]

So, are you what we would consider an extraterrestrial, or is yours just another parallel universe.

Oh, no, Kitrites and humans share a planet—and probably some ancestry, if we're being quite frank—but certainly not cultures or nations. [ For Vanadi's part, he drifts off to the side to pluck up a small, quilted piece. It's horribly ugly. ] Are there only humans in your version of things?

[ So it's a parallel universe sort of thing... like something out of a fantasy novel, huh. He puts the dog back down after a few moments, still not entirely sure if he should buy it; maybe he can find something better. A clock would be ideal, really. ]

Animals and humans, yeah. I'm not sure transhumans count as a separate species. [ He snots at that, actually. Some people like to think otherwise. ]

Transhumans! And just what is that? It sounds fascinating.

[ He can't help but notice (and approve) of the abandoning of the dog-thing. Good, maybe Adam will find something actually worth working on. ]

[ NOT FOR LONG THOUGH, VANADI... if no one else comes along who wants it he'll take it anyway.

He considers if he should answer that question. It probably doesn't matter if he does. ]

Humans that have given up or lost parts of themselves to replace them with mechanical substitutes. Or choose to get other neuro enhancements implanted. Self controlled evolution, some people call it. These augmentations always give them an edge over 'pure' humans, be it strength, speed, intelligence, or destructive capabilities.

Oh.

[ He's dropped the spatula he'd been half heartedly examining to hear that, and the curve of his mouth below the mask drops steeply downward. ]

And people do this willingly? [ soundin juuuust a little disgusted, there. ]

Yes. [ It's... progress, he supposes. Adam momentarily turns away, apparently because something has caught his interest, or so it seems. ]

Well, I know at least one person who didn't do it willingly, I'm sure there are more. But sometimes you have no choice, especially if it can save your life.

Oh, certainly. I suppose there are always those.

[ But suddenly he's... less than entirely comfortable with this conversation. So after fiddling mindlessly with some trinket for a few seconds, he sets it down and starts a slow slide away. ]

Well, I'll leave you to your— dogs and such. Do try to pick a good one, won't you?

[ JUST GONNA AWKWARDLY OLLIE OUT, HERE. ]

[ Well that's odd and unexpected.

Though Adam won't stop him, or give him much of a vocal goodbye--he just gives an acknowledging grunt. But he makes a mental note of this. ]
