OPEN: get in the car we're going shopping
Date & Time: 8/21-8/23 daytime
Location: Outside a civilian residential apt building
Characters: BIG SPENDERS or anyone really just tag your butts in and go to town
Summary: Yard saaaale. In the street. Because what is a yard in the future.
Warnings: Blood spilled over ShamWow??
What had begun as the idea of two became the realization of at least seven — all landlord approved and with nods of approval from neighboring apartment buildings. It didn't even take up a full block, but it was full enough to attract attention of passers-by on the morning hustle to work, saddling them up with something worth spreading to others along the grapevine throughout the day.
Mostly clothes and household items easily given up, but here and there a few gems. A would-be Initiative member had no need for old board games or a guitar or two, and there would be no time to take care of a pet, even one so curious and darling as Blinky. Now and then, its soon-to-be-ex-owner cast a sorrowful glance its way, only to get a slow, out-of-synch blink in response.
Oh, Blinky.
Parting woes aside, business wasn't bad! With the shabby state of affairs in Exsilium, the chance for something new, even a hand-me-down, always sparked interest. And with so many strange, new recruits, there was bound to be someone curious enough to drop down the cash for the most absorbent fabric ever made (those Germans made good stuff)...
And so, after the work buses left the area, the tables went up and the wares were put out until the workday would come to a close and force the tables out of the street. Someone was bound to score something worthwhile in that time over those three days...!

... Yeah, okay. [ A sigh. How did she get suckered into this again... ] It's just not gonna mean as much this way.
[ Not that she even knows why Kyouko would be giving Mami anything. A smarter person would probably think on that a little, but not Sayaka apparently. ]
no subject
[Even Kyouko's a little baffled as to why Sayaka wouldn't ask any questions, but she's grateful that she doesn't have to elaborate. Still, she thought that the other girl was way too trusting sometimes.] As long as she gets it, it don't matter.

I'll take it to her apartment later. [ And then, well. Sayaka's not sure what she'll say, especially if Mami asks outright who it's from, but Kyouko doesn't need to know that.
She pauses, here, sensing an opportunity to leave... instead she opens her mouth again. ] ... Do you wanna look around some more?
no subject
[She’s prepared to leave Sayaka alone after that, but the question completely throws her off guard. For a moment, she looks noticeably startled.] Huh? Uh. [There’s the sudden urge to nervously rub the back of her neck, a reflex she clamps down hard on.] Sure, I guess.
no subject
You don't have to agree, you know. [ She's being difficult; she can tell Kyouko's just surprised. With a sigh, she glances away for a moment. ] I was gonna go look at the clothes next. There's gotta be something worth getting in a pile that big.

Fortunately, everything's packed pretty closely together, so it only takes a few minutes of weaving through the crowd to get over there. She frowns at the drab things towards the top, but a moment of rifling brings some more interesting items - she pulls out a slightly battered, but still decent looking blue coat. ]
This stuff's pretty boring, but I guess this looks okay. [ After another minute or two, she comes up with two decent shirts and a skirt to go with it. ] These aren't too bad either. I'm kinda wearing out the stuff I came with, so...
[ And she can hardly go around in her magical girl outfit all the time. That might get some weird looks. ]

[She places the scarf over her shoulder.] I hear this place used to be England. I think it gets cold...
[She thinks on that for a little while. Her geography lessons leave a lot to be desired (that's what happens when you drop out), but she dimly recalls hearing something like that.]

As if on cue, a chilly breeze blows through the street, causing her to shiver. ]
It's the future, so it shouldn't be this cold anyway! [ ... Yeah okay maybe her logic isn't the best either. At least the cold has managed to snap her out of her funk - the exasperation in her voice is entirely normal for once. ] Ugh, there's no way I'll be able to wear anything cute like this. You wear that hoodie all the time, so maybe it doesn't matter to you, but it's a serious problem for someone like me.
[ #teenageproblems ]

[The commentary on her cloathing choices her frown. This was the second or third time today her hoodie-wearing habits had been commented on. What the hell was wrong with wearing it, she wondered. It was comfortable.] What's wrong with it? [She studies the coat, hums in a contemplative way.] I guess it is kinda girly. Don'tcha like stuff like that?
no subject
Nothing's wrong with it. [ She's just whinging because it looks warm but it's probably not a look she could pull off. She frowns. ] I like girly stuff, but it usually doesn't suit me. I mean, skirts are one thing, but anything more than that is for someone like Madoka.
[ Since... it's not like she makes an effort to be super girly in any other way. She's cool with leaving the cute stuff for other people, though why she's talking about this with Kyouko is truly a mystery of the universe. ]
no subject
Eh. Give it to her, then. [This is the logical solution to Kyouko, anyway. It's not pink, but she doesn't doubt Madoka will appreciate it. She seems like the type.] You can find something else. Bet there's a buncha stuff around here.
no subject
... That's not a bad idea. [ And surprisingly thoughtful, actually. Who are you and what have you done with Kyouko. Once the mild shock passes, she tosses the coat over her arm, glancing over at the other piles. ] I've been looking, but everything's pretty bland, or for guys. It's not like the stuff at home.
[ Probably because they aren't... at home... ]
no subject
sayaka. :|
Kyouko rolls her eyes and shrugs her shoulders.] You really think it's gonna be like home? There's supposed to be a war goin' on now. Betcha this is all they've got.
no subject
Yeah, I guess. [ She makes a face, but ends up looking through one of the stacks for guys instead - a quest that goes surprisingly well, because she ends up with a shirt and a decent jacket. ] Actually, these aren't so bad. Have you ound anything else?
