if we don't get this data NOW, it's doomsday
Date & Time: a nebulous time in the near future
Location: Adam's apartment
Characters: Adam & Vanadi
Summary: ROBROS HANGIN OUT and also somehow vanadi ended up with all his groceries at adam's place, so where else is he going to go when he's hungry
Warnings: n/a
[ He's... never really run out of money before. It's kind of a new experience, and it'd taken a while to sink in. First was the realization that he couldn't afford to find a restaurant, and next came realizing that he couldn't actually afford to buy food to cook, either.
Weird. He'd probably better stop buying drinks for every pretty person he comes across.
But anyway, somewhere in there had come the recollection that he'd already bought a good deal of food, and gone and left it all at Adam's. So, well, here he is, knocking and expectant.
Surely Adam won't really mind the impromptu visit. ]

Dare I ask how you usually eat, my friend?
no subject
I don't.
[ Wait that's not entirely true is it ]
Anything I can prepare quick is fine. I don't really have the patience.
[ Yeah the cereal and pizza cartons might be proof of that ]
no subject
That's... really quite sad, you know.
[ Cereal and pizza Vanadi is so concerned about the state of your body, bro. ]
no subject
Well not everyone has been blessed with cooking skills or a doting partner who makes sure you'll eat enough and right.
[ hahaha he's done the latter for Megan
so often
but his food still sucked. After a few moments, Adam seems to be done and shoves the small cutting board over to Vanadi. ]
no subject
Well, never you fear. Your dark days are past now.
[ And he'll just be snatching up those successfully chopped veggies to add them to the pot. ]
no subject
[ Said with some mild annoyance. He supposes the food is good enough for him to put up with Vanadi's attitude, at least once in a while. He doesn't even immediately withdraw his hand, but that's mostly because every touch feels a little more... dulled. Especially when it's metal all around.
Still he leans back against a kitchen counter, watching Vanadi cooking the rest of it like he'd watched him exercise before. So ~very~ interested. ]
no subject
He steps back, scrutinizes the taste of a spoon he'd just sampled, then dips a fresh one into the broth to hold toward Adam. ]
Try it. Too mild, do you think?
no subject
[ Well he's probably not going to get poisoned, so he takes the spoon and tries it anyway. It's pretty good. ]
Maybe a bit more salt, but it seems fine to me.
[ There's not a whole lot he can say about that though, so after a while he addresses something else he's curious about. Won't mind if he doesn't get an answer though. ]
How many prostheses have you got? I'm assuming it's not just a few fingers.
no subject
That would be the entirety of my left side, and... ah, my right knee. She seemed to have something against knees.
[ Spices: finished. Food: being dished out. ]
And yourself?
no subject
[ Hmmm he doesn't really expect an answer to that, but he wonders aloud anyway. However he notices someone's uncomfortable, so he casually walks over to the living room area, letting Vanadi do the rest.
The arms were already obvious, so... ]
Both legs for me, starting at the knees. Stomach, spine, hell if I know what else. [ Pause ] The eyes.
no subject
[ It seems like a bigger, more dramatic deal if he keeps it hidden, so, why not. But he's out in a few seconds, a plate balanced on each hand, and cocks his head curiously. ]
Both eyes, really? I'd only lost one. [ It sounds like just polite curiosity, but he's started looking a little more closely at Adam's eyes. Which he can't really see thanks to the sunglasses, but it's a valient attempt. ]
no subject
[ He situates himself on the couch again! since he doesn't really have a table for that, but the one in front of the couch will do. it's strange though, he doesn't really tell people about his augmentations; at Sarif, everyone had known anyway. ]
I don't think I'd 'lost' any.
[ nor did he lose his legs, or the other arm, but hey what's done is done and he's so used to what he has now... even if going back was an option, he's not sure he would.
AS FOR HIS EYES... what has Adam tried to teach Vanadi, hmm? IF YOU WANT SOMETHING, ASK. It'll hurt less than the other alternatives, most likely. ]
no subject
[ He takes a seat next to him, handing over the other plate, but doesn't start on his own yet. He actually does remember that lesson, okay. So after a second, looking a little hesitant: ]
May I see them?
1/2
[ ... not. The sarcasm in his voice is obvious and very, very deadpan.
Now, he's heard enough and is about ready to drop the topic, but ah, someone seems to have learned something.
Adam's terribly self conscious about his eyes. They look very unnatural, and it's also his way of not letting people get to close to him; he doesn't actually keep the lenses over his eyes when he's at home, alone. Just when people are around, and he knows that when it comes to faces, the most emotion you'll find in the eyes--artificial or not.
Hn. ]
Will you show me your body?
2/2
no subject
That's a beautiful color. [ If it bothers him that they look artifical, he doesn't say. And with the same small, genuine smile still in place: ] What if I said no?
no subject
I don't mind either way.
[ But hey it was worth a try. Now, before the good gets cold, he leans over to his plate--]
So what's this called.
no subject
Creme of Athera— or, well, I suppose now it's Creme of Chicken, but the thought of athera is still there. [ He casts a quick grin over, before digging into his own dish. ] Enjoy, my dear.
no subject
...Right.
[ And he tentatively begins to eat, though he'll save his final judgement until he's done. The fact that he keeps eating might indicate though that it's not bad. ]

Adam's likely to remain mostly quiet, aside from the occasional grunt or acknowledging nod; concentrating on the food instead. He's not letting it show but he actually enjoys it quite a bit since it's a stark contrast to everything else he's treated himself to recently.
After a while, when he's almost done, ]
Anyone ever tell you that you talk too much?
no subject
[ That with a totally not-at-all-bothered smile, and he nudges Adam's arm with an elbow. ]
You look to be enjoying the food, at least, if not the company! Perhaps one makes up for the other, mm?
no subject
It was good.
no subject
[ There are some people from whom lack-of-rudeness Vanadi will be happy to take as friendliness or a compliment, and Adam is turning into one of them. So he smiles, looking genuinely pleased, and levels a hand to offer to take his plate. ]
I should say there's enough for... mm, three more meals? Depending on just how much you eat, I suppose.
[ A brief pause and a curious glance, a little sharp. ] Do you eat more, now? [ Cuz he does. He's always found that sort of weird. ]
no subject
[ Because it was so very filling Vanadi! Also that question causes him to pause and frown as he hands him the empty plate.
Adam's prostheses aren't as heavy--it's not all metal and even then it's light--but he does need a lot of energy. ]
Not really. Depends on what I'm doing, but even then I can just make do with energy bars.
[ Cereal, pizza, and candybars. He never asked for this sort of diet. ]
