Isaac is his friend, and the last thing Scott is going to do is overlook that fact; they're friends, of course they're friends. Plus, Isaac is his ... beta, which is something Scott's getting used to. He'll settle in eventually, but there's a lot of loose, hanging factors connected to that.
But it's still strange that Isaac is asking. All of this is weird, and Isaac has no reason to believe they're not friends. Scott does understand that it's some conclusion he drew a little later, after trying to figure this all out. Maybe there's something connected to that.
