Summary: Nill promised to meet an anonymous person on the network, and has decided to send smoke signals with cigarettes to find them. Also action spam.
Warnings: None! Will be updated if needed.

[It's a strange day that finds Nill smoking during daylight hours, but one way or another she's found herself doing exactly that. Small promises made and easy modes of identification, she supposes - she'll end up going through half a pack by the end of this, but it's worth it if she can actually manage to help the person she promised to help.

Even so, it's not difficult to tell that it's a strange sight, a blond girl bundled up, sitting on the trunk of a fallen tree beside one of the better-known ways to town, just... smoking. She doesn't appear to be going anywhere, apparently comfortable where she is, though she smiles at anyone that spares her a glance while they're on their way. She'll be there for most of the early afternoon, from noon to about three, and will welcome anyone that feels like sitting with her.

Hopefully it won't decide to snow while she's sitting there. It's cold enough out as it is, and a new layer isn't going to make her stay terribly pleasant.]

[Her feathers would probably start freezing tbh, it's part of why she keeps her wings stuffed in the jacket when she's traveling. Or... doing much of anything outside the Dansion these days. It works out a little easier than using any of the Initiative tech, even if it's more uncomfortable.]

[She wishes she could be surprised by that. As it is, she just shakes her head.]

[Cancer. She's heard about it before - mostly on TV, with the ads of small, sickly, balding children. She's never known anyone personally who had it, however.]

I'm not sure we can get that in a place like this.

[Kano can tell by her reaction. It makes him laugh, loud.]

Well, well, there's no need to be shy about it! Acting like that only increases Nill's charm.

Oh, it's the friends I have back home. We kinda became friends over the course of the last year. I mean, I could just call them 'my friends' but... It sounds cooler, doesn't it? Calling everyone a 'team.'

[It also makes you look kind of pervy, unfortunately. But as far as he's concerned it's more important to feel warm than to look normal. Stanley shrugs and gets to his feet, still shivering. He'd like to wait around with Nill and keep her company, but the farmer will kick his ass if he doesn't get back with those supplied before dark this time. And there's still a lot of walking left to o. Ugh.]

[Nill listens quietly, lifting her cigarette to her lips again. She blows the smoke in the opposite direction of him, even though he probably wouldn't mind in the least, before turning her attention to him once more.]

I heard that a friend of yours left. I'm sorry.

[She means it, too. Oz was the world to Gilbert, no matter which Oz and no matter which Gilbert. Surely, this wasn't easy for him. It never was.]

He'll come back.

[HOW DOES SHE DEAL WITH THIS. Geeze, he's--]

[Except, she hadn't meant to 'say' that, and it shows about five seconds after she does.

[She glances down at her thighs, as if the idea hadn't really occurred to her. She still had a pretty decent chunk of time to wait, so even if it looked a little awkward, it might be worth trying out.

Stan gets to his feet then, and she gets ready to type up a generic "see you later", since it seems like he's ready to go, but then...

She remembers the conversation she'd had with Kate what seems like forever ago, and that Stan was one of the people she had lied to. She makes a gesture for him to wait a moment, and after struggling to find words, finally holds up the tablet again.]

I lied about my age when I told you about it. I'm sorry.

[retraced]

[A friend. A reason for living. An excuse to breathe, to sleep and to wake again. He's tried to convince himself for days that Oz would return, but when days feel like years without direction, he isn't sure of anything aside from the emptiness he feels in the wake of his disappearance.]

He'll -- [He startles, turns his eyes up to look directly at her.]

You think he will...? Why?

[Selfish.]

[NOPE. NOPE TOO LATE HE'S LEANING IN]

Yosuke? Who's that, who's that?

[reassures]

[LEANING AWAY THE SLIGHTEST BIT... Kano why this.]

He's-- someone I need to get back to. I haven't seen him in a long time.

[Not the right version of him, anyway.]

[reassures]

[Nill hesitates for the slightest moment. She flicks ashes from the edge of her cigarette, and then lifts her free hand to very gently touch his arm.]

He always comes back to you. Sometimes it just takes a little longer than usual.

[There were few laws in these different worlds that Nill visited. They were few and far between, and at the best they were never good, but if there was one thing that Nill was sure of, it was this.

Where Gilbert was, Oz would eventually be. And where Oz was, Gilbert would always follow. Of that much she was absolutely certain.]

[Nill doesn't seem bothered, and she certainly doesn't look like she thinks it's dumb. He hasn't mentioned Souji's name yet, and though Nill was on the fence about his other friends, she had nothing against them personally.]

It sounds a lot cooler.

[Ah. He gets it.]

Ah~ For a moment there I thought he was someone else to you. Well, well... [It's unlikely, but--] ... once this is all over, you'll be able to see him again soon enough!

[That earns Nill a slight eyebrow quirk, but not any sort of huge reaction. Everyone lies about their age sometimes, it's no big deal. Maybe she had a good reason. Not that he can think of one, honestly. He's not someone that people usually bother lying to like that. But he's not going to throw any stones here, either.]

[reassures]

He's very important to me. I promised him I wouldn't leave him.

...I don't know if I will get to see him again when this is over.

[It's super unlikely, and she knows that much. She appreciates the attempt at reassurance though, even if she doesn't look totally comfortable. At this point... Kano already knows she's a telepath, and that she can use a gun, of all things. What's the point in skirting around this topic?]

We aren't from the same world-- and even if we were, I haven't been to my world in a long time.

[reassures]

[The general lack of reaction is a little odd. He doesn't even seem slightly bothered, and the ease with which he takes it in stride is... nice. Really nice. It makes her feel a little worse about it.]

[At that Kano's smile slips to one more subdued. He understands these sorts of promises.]

... I see, then. If that's the case... both of you were taken from your worlds to a new one. Right? So seeing him would be a difficult task.

[reassures]

Right. ...If I include my own world, this is the fourth that I've been to.

[She smiles, and takes one more drag from her cigarette, before dropping what's left of it (mostly filter) near her shoes.]

But I made a promise. So even if it's unlikely, I'll keep moving like this until I go back there.

[The fourth? That gets a surprised look from him. He's heard of people stopping at a world before winding up in Exsilium, but he hasn't thought that it'd be possible for someone to be taken to so many places.]

... ah, Nill? How long have you been traveling?

[reassures]

[It's a difficult question to answer. Not because she has an issue with it - in this case, she doesn't. She's just not totally sure of the answer, between various time shenanigans and the years being different in different worlds. The easiest way to answer it is probably with her age, but even that's... difficult.]

The last time I was in my own world, I think I was fifteen-years-old.

Right now, I'm about twenty.
