Characters: Nill and YOU
Summary: Nill promised to meet an anonymous person on the network, and has decided to send smoke signals with cigarettes to find them. Also action spam.
Warnings: None! Will be updated if needed.

[It's a strange day that finds Nill smoking during daylight hours, but one way or another she's found herself doing exactly that. Small promises made and easy modes of identification, she supposes - she'll end up going through half a pack by the end of this, but it's worth it if she can actually manage to help the person she promised to help.

Even so, it's not difficult to tell that it's a strange sight, a blond girl bundled up, sitting on the trunk of a fallen tree beside one of the better-known ways to town, just... smoking. She doesn't appear to be going anywhere, apparently comfortable where she is, though she smiles at anyone that spares her a glance while they're on their way. She'll be there for most of the early afternoon, from noon to about three, and will welcome anyone that feels like sitting with her.

Hopefully it won't decide to snow while she's sitting there. It's cold enough out as it is, and a new layer isn't going to make her stay terribly pleasant.]

[That head of blond hair is familiar, or so Stanley thinks. He ruffles it before he realizes his mistake. Oh. Not Lily. Nill. Crap.]

Sorry. Thought you were someone else.

[reassures]

[She sees Stan coming, and sends a smile his way, but he doesn't seem to be paying much attention. It's not until he's ruffling her hair that she realizes he doesn't actually recognizes her, and Nill fumbles slightly with the sudden surprise, nearly falling off the tree trunk she's perched on. Once he realizes who she is she just... waves. Hey Stan.]

[He waves back and takes a seat. That was an invitation, wasn't it?

He smells more like hay and marijuana himself than cigarette smoke, but what he pulls out of his pocket to light up is a pack of-

Oh. Actually it's a grain mouse. A tiny one too, that blinks up at him in surprise as he blinks down at in surprise. He's really gotta start checking his boots and coat pockets before he leaves in the morning. This is the third time this month.]

Hey. Uh. Need a mouse?

[reassures]

[Might as well have been one. She certainly doesn't mind the company - Stan was a good guy, if a little odd at times, and she hadn't really seen much of him since the... memorial. Funeral. Whatever the most appropriate word for it was. It was good to see him again, to know he hadn't frozen somewhere or that he was still stuck up on the moon, unable to look after himself very well.

Despite herself, and despite Stan, she can't help but state at the mouse, just a little. It's beyond her how he could miss having a mouse in his pocket for who knows how long, and after a moment she realizes he asked her a question, so she shakes her head. She pulls out her tablet quickly.]

Hi. No thank you. I don't think the others would appreciate me bringing a mouse home.

[And then, unsure of what else to do, she holds out her cigarette towards him. It's nothing better than nicotine, but help yourself.]

[He wasn't serious about that, so the response gets an amused eyebrow quirk from him. The cigarette he accepts, though. The mouse shivers, and he decides it's cruel to set it free out here. Back to the barn where it only has Allergies to worry about, then. He tucks it back into the pocket he found it in and gazes thoughtfully up at the sky. Puff, puff, pass. Tobacco and all.]

What's good?

[reassures]

[She wasn't really sure what else to say in response to it. Nill just watches the little mouse at first, and finds herself a little glad when he puts it back into his pocket instead of letting it go.

...though, geeze. A barn? Really Stan? The situation here wasn't ideal, but... poor kid.

She takes the cigarette back, placing it between her lips to inhale while she types.]

Enough. How are you doing here?

[Why do people always change the subject when you ask them how they are? Stanley shrugs and rolls with it. He's finally doing alright for once, so it's easy to talk about at the moment.]

Good. Got a place to stay now. Borrowed some boots. My toes didn't fall off.

[reassures]

[Is that what he'd meant by "What's good"? What an odd way to put it. Her wings would flutter if they weren't firmly stuffed inside her jacket, flat against her back. Oops. she hadn't meant to avoid the question that time.

At the mention of toes falling off, she casts a glance at his feet, as if tat would confirm his statement. It doesn't, of course, but now she's a little worried that if he does have all his toes currently, it might not last.]

I have a place to stay too. It's really nice there. Are you staying with anyone?

Besides the mice? Yeah. There's a couple who live there. And some more animals.

[reassures]

Are there many mice?

[She offers the cigarette again, though as she does she looks at the pocket the tiny mouse had been placed back into. Well, at least they seem to get along with him instead of biting him.]

I dunno. The Cat gets them sometimes.

[He pats the pocket with the mouse in it absently. It's safe for now.]

CAT...

Nill's posture straightens a little, unconsciously. She really is not a fan of cats.]

You have a cat?

Well...

[He doesn't, not exactly. But a cat sort of has him at the moment. Except he can't say that, because it sounds crazy. Almost as crazy as the cat belonging to a squirrel. Which...it does.]

Just a little one.

[Nill has

no idea what to make of that train of thought

for a minute she's pretty sure she catches a tiny glimpse in his head of a squirrel in armor, but for all the stuff Nill has dealt with, that's gotten be one of the strangest.

She probably looks a lot more baffled than she should, given his response was pretty normal.]

Oh. Does it have a name?

Cat.

[He admits, almost sheepishly. People keep saying he needs to name it something. Maybe he really does. He'd meant yo get around to it, but it seems like a big responsibility. What if he gave it a name it didn't like? Or something nerdy that people would laugh at the car for? What if it had a name already and he'd just never asked until it was too late? What if it didn't matter anyway? The cat doesn't seem to mind.]

[reassures]

[Cat the cat. It's not so hard to picture Stan hanging out in a barn with a cat he calls Cat going after mice, and the image alone makes her giggle.]

That's not a bad name.

He seems cool with it.

[Stanley reaches over and plucks the cigarette from Nill's fingers again, taking another draw on it. He glances over at her, wondering if her wings fit inside that coat or what?]

You okay?

[reassures]

[Rude. He should've taken it when she offered it earlier. But she doesn't seem to mind.]

I'm fine. Do I not seem it?

[lazyinlove]

[Hey, who knew it had an expiration date? Usually an offer is an offer. His manners could probably use some work, but he's blissfully unaware of it. And considering Nill thoughtfully for a moment.]

It's cold. Why're you sitting alone outside in the cold?

[That usually means something's up, doesn't it? It would if it were him.]

[reassures]

[For once, it doesn't mean something is up. He seems like he might be concerned about her though, and Nill smiles.]

I promised someone I would meet them here-- but I'm not sure when they'll be here.

[It only really occurs to her now how strange that probably sounds to someone else.]

Should've got a time.

[He absently passes the cigarette back to her and glances around. Nobody in sight.]

[reassures]

[She takes the cigarette back, and takes a drag while she types up her response.]

I told them I would wait from 12pm to 3pm. At least I won't be here all day.

[Three hours is a long fucking time to sit around in the cold. Stan gives Nill a slightly concerned glance, but he only nods. He's not the boss of her. But hopefully whoever she's meeting isn't a douchebag. Hopefully they know to come right away. Before her fingers or feathers or whatever start freezing off.]

[Her feathers would probably start freezing tbh, it's part of why she keeps her wings stuffed in the jacket when she's traveling. Or... doing much of anything outside the Dansion these days. It works out a little easier than using any of the Initiative tech, even if it's more uncomfortable.]

[It also makes you look kind of pervy, unfortunately. But as far as he's concerned it's more important to feel warm than to look normal. Stanley shrugs and gets to his feet, still shivering. He'd like to wait around with Nill and keep her company, but the farmer will kick his ass if he doesn't get back with those supplied before dark this time. And there's still a lot of walking left to o. Ugh.]
