Summary: Max and her empathy have been struggling. It's becoming a little obvious.
Warnings: general ptsd warning but most likely nothing serious.

[ max spends a lot of her time out and about, these days. it's not that she minds - well, all right, she minds confinement. it's reassuring to walk around and know that she's free to do so, that beyond making sure tony knows she isn't doing anything stupid she doesn't have to stay in one place with locked doors and just sit and wait.

in larger part, though, it's that she knows her handle over her empathy isn't as good as it could be. she doesn't want to spread that on to tony, doesn't want to make him have to deal with how she knows her emotions are slipping out these days without her intending them to. and since they're primarily negative ones, well.

so she wanders, pretty frequently, and today she's not paying as much attention to her surroundings as she should be, caught up in her own head and trying to work on her shields. it still comes as a surprise when her shoulder catches on someone else's, but she doesn't stumble, just turns and lifts a hand in apology. ]
