[And you may have heard someone screaming "I'M FINE" repeatedly at themselves near the castle grounds a short while ago, strangely.]

[This seems like a good time for Link to make it back, setting down the mysterious box from Rosette's room with a echoingly heavy thump.

What did he even miss...]

[Welcome back, Link. You will find a priest sprawled on the floor, a yelling nun, an innocent child looking perfectly innocent and the worst boyfriend laughing his head off.

Oh, and it seems Master Walker is still communing with the Noah.]

There will be no after if you die!

[Honestly, that clock thing freaks him out.]

[She looks up, brightening as Link makes his presence known. Still, she turns to reassure Kevin...]

I'm not going to die. I wont let myself.

[Because to her it IS that simple.

She turns to Chrono.]

Help me get set up?

[And, Break may notice the figure on the bed as Rosette goes back to the bedside. She opens one of the pockets and pulled out four crosses, driving them into the mattress around Allen.]

[ Eventually he leaves off laughing and reaches down to help his silly angel off the floor. Rosette's words give him pause, however: I'm not going to die, I won't let myself sounds far too close to something he'd say. ]

Rosette...

[ But the question dies on his lips the instant he notices the very grey form on the bed. Letting go of Kevin, he rushes over to Rosette's side. ]

What happened? Is he — ?

[ — dead? ]

[overclocking]

[ Chrono locks his jaw and crosses to the box Link brought with him, sparing a nod of thanks. He wastes no time hefting it to the foot of the bed and pulling out the various coiling wires.

He doesn't bother to look up when he responds. ]

He's possessed by a demon.

[Kevin doesn't resist Break. He is still shaking with anger (and fear), his aura more expansive than usual. His eyes move between Rosette and Allen.]

She is going to risk her life trying to save Master Walker. By feeding that thing!

[How many times must he say that is a bad idea? Of course, the only reason Kevin is not exorcising the demon himself is because he can't.]

Do not let her! Please!

I believe Miss Rosette is actually going to risk her life by directly assisting Walker's soul against his "guest." What they tried just before was actually the alternative.

[Keeping an eye on the set up to see if there's anything he should help with, automatically situating himself between the Exorcists and everyone else.]

His name is Chrono, he's my partner and he's standing right there.

[She makes herself sit back down, steadying herself.]

And Mr. Link is right. This is a method created by my Order. It has nothing to do with our contract. If anything, he'll be using less of my time.

It's going to be fine. I promise.

I'm coming back, and with Allen.

[ Chink chink chink chink chink is the sound of all the pieces falling into place. That thing. Chrono is a Chain, or something like, and he is killing his contractor — however regretfully. His anxious, relentless, stubborn way of looking after Rosette, and the reason he behaved so suspiciously when asked why: that's guilt, clear as day.

"Using less of my time": it sounds like an urgent thing. Chink. Probably her fate is quite similar to that of an illegal contractor; the hand of her clock might be making its final sweep. He makes a swift, cold calculation. ]

Do it.

[ Her fate is sealed; thus if she can save Allen, it's worth the potential sacrifice. ]

[There's a small relief that someone who will agree to let them work is holding Kevin back, allowing him to turn his full attention on Rosette and Chrono.]

I don't suppose there is any way that someone else could go with you?

[overclocking]

[ Chrono works silently, the conversation flowing around him like a pebble in a stream. He doesn't look up, still offers no defense, no explanation. His hands pause when Rosette's anger sparks, but he's otherwise quiet and (apparently) focused on his task.

He holds a cross-framed visor up to Rosette as Link speaks. ]

[ Tersely, ] No. It can only be done by one person.

[ He would certainly be going, otherwise. ]

[Kevin spares Break a look of surprised betrayal. Mister Break, of all people, should have known what it means to lose one's soul to some unholy leech. He doesn't pull away, though. There is nothing he can do without violating the free will of every single individual in this room, but that is not a price he can pay. Not after what happened to Solomon.

In the end, it is hard to tell whether Break is holding Kevin or Kevin is holding Break. Link's explanation merely prevents him from shouting at them all for their recklessness. "Less" of Rosette's time is still too much. More than he can accept, anyway.

At least, with the demon not influencing as much, they might have a better chance of success at saving Master Walker. In the end, he prepares himself to do what Rosette asked of him: to guard her with all his strength.]

[In the mean time, Rosette checks the various connections visually, nodding with some satisfaction at Chrono's work.

She doesn't bother to make any further arguments. It's time to get to work.]

[ And after Rosette has dived, in the ensuing tense silence that follows, Emily pipes up: ]

DO YOU EAT HUMANS, CHRONO?

[ You see, Kevin? Break can be on your side. Occasionally. ]

Well, that was a little shocking...but not in a bad way.]
