[He's heard about the shift in plans that they had for upcoming missions. It was only natural that the Transport population would want to do something about it--an Earth trapped in a nuclear winter was something that had to be reversed, ASAP. And if it would take down the UE while they were at it...

Kano knows that Ico could probably handle anything thrown his way. But he still can't help but worry just a bit, especially since the other was so young.

So he sends a text asking for him to meet up in town before heading out, bundled up snugly as he waits.]

[It was easy to find Ico. His hat and horn warmers were brightly coloured. It made him look ridiculous enough that he did not have to use a cloaking device. It did not seem that he was fully aware of how he looked. This did not look like someone ready to go on a dangerous mission.]

Huueeh!

[He shouted once he saw Kano. The hunters of Toksa village used that same shout to find each other in the forest. It seemed just as useful for finding friends in crowds. He hurried to him.]

I got your message. I'm glad you're here. Did you go on the mission yet?

[It was, thankfully, and once Kano spots him he waves a hand, bright and cheerful.

--what was that shout. He mimics it the best he can once he hears it.]

Huuuuueeh!!

[It seems to work well enough! Kano ignores some of the looks the villagers gave them as he grins at Ico.]

Nope, not yet, not yet. I still have to do some waiting, it looks like. What about you?

[He laughed when Kano shouted back. That was the first time anyone here did that and it made him happy to hear it. It reminded him of home. Similarly, he ignored the way the villagers looked at them.]

That was good! You sound like a hunter.

I'm still waiting, too. Who are you going with? [His smile diminished.] Do you think it'll be dangerous?

[Kano grins at the compliment and it doesn't leave his face, even with Ico's question.]

Well... it's likely that I'll go with Kanaya, you know? [He avoids the second question for now.] What about you, Ico? Who's going along with you?

[He noticed that Kano did not answer his last question. It did not ease his worries and he frowned.]

Blue said I should go with Nathan. I don't really know him, but he must be good since Blue trusts him.

Well, if Blue says it's good, it should, shouldn't it? [Kano doesn't know the guy all too well, but he gets that he's the guy arranging all this. He deserves some respect for that.]

Have you met Nathan yet?

Yeah. I trust Blue, he's a good friend and he's very smart. [He smiled while he spoke of his friend.]

I haven't met him yet. I guess I will soon. Do you know when you're going yet?

[Kano gives a light laugh at that.] I'll hear about it soon enough, I'm sure! Ahh, I'll leave it to the big shots to worry about. I'm sure it won't be anywhere too scary.

Are you sure? [He tipped his head to a side.]

He sounded pretty worried. Promise you'll stay safe, okay? Do that thing you do with your eyes. [He pointed at both his own dark eyes.]

[With the grin still on his face, Kano matches Ico's action.] I got it, I got it. Ico's such a worrywart. Shouldn't I be the one asking you whether you'll be safe or not?

[Seeing Kano do that made him smile.]

Maybe, but I'll be safe too, you know. I can't let anything stop me yet.

I'm taking you up on that~ Hey, hey, it's gonna be a promise, you got it? Something that you can't break! You understand?

I understand. It's a promise.

[He held his pinkie out the same way he had seen Abbey do before.] Maybe a pinkie promise? Does that mean it's more serious?

[He's reminded for a moment of days playing hero. It feels nostalgic. And, if anything, it makes him worry a bit more about Ico.]

A pinkie promise? It's more like a pinkie oath. [With full seriousness, he extends his pinkie and wraps it around his.] Unbreakable and eternal, that's what it is.

[So that's what the pinkie is for! His face lit up, as if he had just solved a great mystery. He curled his little finger around Kano's own.]

Right, neither of us can break it now. I'll be checking on you, okay? I'll come back and meet you here once my mission is over.

[He shakes their joined pinkies, as if to emphasize the bond.]

Ico's going now? Ah, surely you have some time to enjoy the weather for a bit! [A beat.] I'll be sure to bring a souvenir for you once I get back. So you better outdo yourself, okay?

[He laughed. So a pinkie promise, or a pinkie oath, was like a handshake but only with the little fingers. It seemed a little silly to him.]

I'm not going now. It might be a few more days, I think. I'll try to find something for you, too.

[He pulled his scarf closer to the sides of his face.] Do you really like this weather? It's so cold. I hope the mission will be somewhere warmer. Like that sandy place we went to.

[He wasn't a stranger to cold. Sometimes it got chilly in Japan, but not this cold. It made him think, though, of the times their small family used to travel for vacations when they could afford it.]

... yup. There's something relaxing about snow, don't you think? [He grins.] But girls are cuter in the summertime. I'd definitely petition them to send us to an island again!

[Kano associated weather with girls? Ico's cheeks turned red under his scarf.]

The snow's fun to play in, and so is the sea. I guess they're both good when it's not too much. There's just too much snow here.

I think we could go if we just asked them. I remember when a lot of us were going to get supplies when we were on the moon that they sent us pretty much wherever we wanted to go. It's probably still the same.

[He grins at Ico's shyness.]

Ah, but it's not quite the same, is it? These missions are pretty well-planned. I don't think we'll have the chance to go wherever we'd like this time. After all, after all, we got into the situation we're in because of poor planning.

You're right. Maybe it'll get warm here again soon, after we do more missions. Then we can play more games again, right?

Definitely~! Ehh, if you wanted, I could even teach you about water balloons fights.

[Water balloons? Fights? Was that really a game?]

What is that?

Ico knows what balloons are, doesn't he~?

[He hesitated, trying to think back. Eventually, he shook his head.]
