hungover: (Please stop making my head hurt)

(no subject)

Date & Time: Saturday night!
Location: The Cascade Lounge
Characters: Haymitch and [open]
Summary: What are we doing tonight, Brain? The same thing we do every night.
Warnings: ...trying to take over the world? No, nothing actually. Haymitch being himself is warning enough.

[No matter where he was, there was one thing he could rely on (other than himself) -- alcohol. Sure, he spent most of his nights drinking at home alone ... but he'd started to think that he needed more information about this place, and the easiest way to get that would just be to sit around and wait for people to come to him.

A lonely drunk at the bar is the perfect potential conversation partner, right?

Right. At least he's been quiet and hasn't started any fights with anyone ... yet..]

[She shrugs, a momentary glance towards him before her eyes go back to the book. It's written in what looks like something out of Tolkin with the pictures from a physics textbook and occult manual mixed in.]

I grew up in a library. It's easier to read here, the silence isn't deafening.

[She looks up as her drink is delivered, in a mug that looks out of place in the hands of someone as short and slender as her. First time she'd showed up the bartender had almost told her to leave before she used a little Charm spell to convince him she actually was 22...or was it 23 now?]

It helps I've also been traveling a lot the past few years. There aren't a lot of libraries on the road. You should try it some time.

Not a big fan of literature I take it?

[Hers involves lots of bandits and orcs too stupid to see that if the last fifty groups failed, they're not going to have much luck either]

Ah, but I know from experience reading is much more enjoyable while drunk.

[Takes a swig of ale, then flips the page...is that person on fire?]
andhishat: (Even she has to laugh)

Ah, then you have someone read to you.
andhishat: (Say wah?)

[That gets her to look at him at least, though there's no real shock or horror on her face. She's seen to many examples of how horrible people are first hand]

And suddenly your choice of recreation makes a great deal more sense.

[She looks back at her text]

I'd offer to read, but I doubt you'd find this interesting.

[She takes a swig] Likely less that half, and more than you think. I've been well acquainted with what right bastards people can be.

[People, not just humans. All races have their serious bad sides, if that's any comfort. As a half breed in several senses she knows this.]

Well I wouldn't say that. The fire spells are very direct at least.

Would you feel better if I pretended I just used very advanced machinery?

[Because for some reason magic seems to really throw a lot of people here]

Not if you are a mage like me. Other types of spellcasters require a special bloodline or approval of a diety. Mages, you just need the right sort of training.
