[Aileen had gone out to the woods again, this time not for the ocean but just to see the lakes nearby. The first one she finds is as bad as she expected; filthy and full of dead water. She's seen the mutant animals running about, this is probably part of that in the first place.

It doesn't take her long to slip out of her shoes and wade a bit in, a ring of clarity stretching out on the water's surface around her ankles. Leaning over to dip her fingers in as well gets the same effect, but she can't help but sigh.

She knows she can clean the lake, knows she can clean the lot of them with just her touch; but she also knows nature is nature and it's only a temporary fix. But still, she wants to try.]

[ He considers it for a while, resisting the impulse to shrug it off. It probably wouldn't go over very well with a healer. ]

All in good time, I hope! As rousing as it's all been, it must be hard on our esteemed doctors.

We're managing just fine; its everyone else I'm worried for.

[she closes her eyes for a brief pause. Its unrealistic to expect everyone to care, but its never stopped her temper before. She tries to soften her expression, mostly succeeding.]

But what I mean't before was more that it would be better not to forget our circumstances. We all need to get back home eventually.

[implying]

[ He's making a face under here, if the lean of his upper body and downward curve of his mouth is any indication. ]

Well, not all of us. Mine [ is the last place he ever wants to be?? ] was terribly dull! Perhaps I'll ask to be sent to yours instead, hmm?

[seamend]

[Okay, she makes a face at that too. Because ohhhhhhhh how she wouldn't wish that hot mess on anyone!!]

My home-? Really, I don't see how that would be a solution to a lack of excitement. If I had a choice I'd have been born someplace else gladly, but I had a lot going on before they plucked me away. [A shake of the head.] There were just too many responsibilities.

[implying]

Well, a lot going on is surely better than my general nothing! [ He smiles, nudges her side gently with an elbow. ] Will you tell me about your world?

[seamend]

[She lets out a breath.] There's not so much to tell; things have gotten very tense between my own kind and the non-magical. We hide ourselves among them, to avoid persecution, but we were always seen as unnecessary and dangerous.

Honestly, I kept my mind more on my own clinic then the politics. And a-- friend I hadn't seen in a very long time had just popped back up again. And that was the last thing I needed. [Somehow that all came out more like ranting... but there's no way she'd mention the actual details of her world, of course.]

[implying]

It does sound rather busy! Ah, but a friend— that's typically a good thing, isn't it? What sort of friend are we speaking of?

[seamend]

Not when this friend is- [Selfish? Manipulative? A gangster!?] quite like him.

[implying]

Really. [ Oh, such a grin creeping over his face, here. ] Will you tell me more about him?

[seamend]

About Niall? That- that'd have us out here all day. [If looks could kill, she'd burn a hole straight through the trees in front of them.]

He's nothing but trouble every time he pops up. I'd just agreed to help with his latest crisis, but the man is nearly impossible to work with. If I wasn't so sure he'd create some grand havoc I'd have booted him out without another word. [Which is such a liiiie.]

[implying]

You, booting someone out? My. What does the man do, skin puppies for a living?

[seamend]

Nothing so obvious, I can promise you. He owns a casino, but its only recently been so [A half-laugh.] 'clean'.

[But. ..wow she should really stop talking about that guy.] In any case. That's what I have to look forward to when I get back.

[implying]

It doesn't sound all so bad, if you'll forgive my saying. A bit trying, maybe, but no harm done, hmm? A friend is still a friend!

Well, no. It isn't completely awful, but sometimes he's just trying to get under my skin.

--Sorry, I suppose I'm more upset with him than I thought. Pay it no mind.

[implying]

Already forgotten, my dear! Everyone has their gripes. [ smiiillleee. ] I would know, I've caused quite a few of them.

[seamend]

[ The look she gives him isn't entirely unworried. ] I think I can imagine. But really, you don't seem the sort who likes causing them, either.

[ His smile widens a little, he nudges her side with an elbow playfully. ]

It depends on just whose grief I'm causing, mm?

[ A paaause. But okay fine that gets a laugh. ]
