Date & Time: A few days after Katniss gets lanced
Location: Her apartment
Characters: Katniss, anyone who wants to check on her /o/
Summary: Katniss has been staying indoors and avoiding pretty much everything.
Warnings: Mentions of stabbination?
[The situation in the forest had been unpleasant. To say the least. It has been a long time since Katniss had legitimately feared for her life, and she isn't sure what to do with the feelings that's left her with.
So she shuts down. It's not quite like the catatonia that had come over her after Prim's death, but it's something similar. She just doesn't know how to deal with her life any more, so she stops dealing with it entirely. She sits on the couch in the lounge, moves only to eat, drink, and use the bathroom, and for all intents and purposes acts like a robot.
It works for her. Sort of.]

[Well, that should set off all sorts of warning bells for her. Haymitch rejecting a drink?
He's trying to be good, trying to -- well, make sure that he's sharper for if something happens to her again.
It won't last long, but it's an effort -- a gesture. It also explains why he looks like he swallowed bleach instead of vodka on his last go 'round.]

Don't be an idiot, Haymitch. It was a mutt, there wasn't anything you could do.

[That's his job, to know what's going on. To keep her from doing the stupid things that he'd done, or at least to -- make her attempts at them successful.]

That's the plan.
[Even if it kills him -- and at this rate, it just might. The DTs are a bitch.]

[He furrows his brows, leaning absently against the nearest wall.]

Didn't I already make you that promise? I'm not making it twice.

He crosses his arms over his chest because his hands are shaking too badly and snorts.]
Fine.

[All his organs are in the same place, even!]

He rolls his shoulders easily.]
I can only imagine how lovely that was to be around.
[This has only been a few hours, after all. He's not even hitting the potentially-dangerous-seizures level yet.]
no subject
[Her frown deepens] Are you trying to go cold turkey? Don't be stupid.
no subject
[...yeah, he doesn't think it's worth wasting their time either.]

And I'm sure you have a plan for what I ought to be doing.
[Right. His arms are still crossed tightly over his chest. He -- doesn't look impressed. At least she's doing well, comparatively.]

So I should -- what, drink in moderation?
[She doesn't understand what that's like, he's fairly certain. The unpleasant side effects without the pleasantry of being passed out for a precious few hours. There's -- no point.]
no subject
Did they get it?

[Or ... maybe it was a mutt, but he's not going to outright say that in front of her -- knowing how she might react. He does have some tact.]
