[OPEN TO ALL] 2nd DEFENSE MEETING

Date & Time: Nov. 10th, early morning to late afternoon/evening
Location: Near the Botanical Gardens
Characters: EVERYONE AND ANYONE. Ehether it was previously arranged with Fiona, someone else did the convincing, or they just happen to be around at the right time.
Summary: Second Defense Meeting. Some chatting, some sparring, a little showing off, and everything in between.
Warnings: Swearing and violence, very yes.



[Only problem with trying to have the meeting near a botanical garden is unfortunately the spacious non-elevated scenery. At least last time there was rubble to hop on, but no matter. Near the front of the gathering crowd, Fiona will do what she can to find something to stand on and if that’s not enough she’ll tap her staff loudly onto the ground and it’ll produce a bright light for a moment. Hopefully it’s an attention grabber.]

Thank you everyone for coming to our second defense meeting. For those of you coming again and those of you here for the first time, welcome. Although this place itself is hardly one to be welcomed to, I am glad to see others here. We are trying to be a united effort and for this I say welcome to. I’m Fiona and I’m the one who has been coordinating the meetings thus far.

[A short breath as a small bitterness creeps onto her tone of voice] As I can never stress enough, those Initiative bastards here are unorganized fools who trip over themselves while we are expected to win this war of theirs for them. Although they have made some improvements since the recent battle they still lack any generals or commanders to guide us. We are our own guidance and our own defense andit is up to ourselves to keep each other safe and deliver a blow on this enemy of theirs without sacrificing each other to do so.

I won’t lie to you, this defense may not only be one against the UE. In past months the Initiative has performed… tests on those they’ve brought here. These tests have been harmful to us, from poisoning to using our own memories against us. Whatever mishap or cause that they may claim to have brought these tests about still proves their incapability to defend the very soldiers they’ve brought here unwillingly to fight. However just their cause may be, we are on our own to defend ourselves. From whatever may come against us.

For the meeting today, I hope for everyone to get to know one another. That is our greatest disadvantage. We are all from different worlds where some have magic, or technology, or neither. It is impossible to predict what each other are capable of and that is why we must learn. If we do not then lives may be lost for what we never cared to know.

Our third meeting to come we will be deciding our leaders. For as it stands there are none.

Each person attending our meetings will be able to nominate a person they see fit to lead those around them. But they will not be able to nominate themselves. Three nominations and others may vote for them. Those nominated will be allowed to make a short speech during the meeting’s time and answer questions to those concerned. At the end of the meeting we will vote. And hopefully we will have five leaders by the end of our third meeting. These leaders will be choosing groups that the rest of us will adhere to. Come our fourth meeting, we will see if the chosen leaders are the ones right for their positions and if the groups made are truly capable of defending one another.

We will not allow each other to fall.

[She’ll take a moment to look around then before nodding. At least it appears that most were listening.]

[Oh, this is new.

When he notes he is ready, the panda gives a smile and drops into position as well. She crouches, left leg extended and right tucked under her, left paw presented forward and right held back. Like this. Yes she's in her underwear, blame WoW Model Viewer for a glitch with the loincloth in clothes.

She doesn't warn though. The fight has begun and so she instead chooses to see just how quick Minato will be with a simple strike with her right paw, rolling forward on that extended leg easily.]

[Holy crap she was fast. Minato manages to react to the strike, but not fast enough to dodge. He brings up both arms to block the strike, taking the hit. He could feel the power behind it, but it would take more than one hit to make him falter.]

[He recovers quickly, shrugging off the blow and retaliating with a right jab, calling on Susano-o for endurance and strength. He'd stand his ground as best he can.]

[Ah, a quick fellow! He hadn't managed to dodge but he had blocked it. That had been enough to make the pandaren smile.

She managed to barely dodge the jab. This was the barely where a monk began gathering their chi. As she barely dodged the jab, her right paw went behind her for the staff strapped to her back. She pulled the staff out as she straightened and went in for a low blow with it.]

[Ah, if that's how she was going to play...]

[Minato unhooks the sword at his side, sheath and all, in order to parry. Drawing it would have been faster, but he'd rather not deal with sharp weapons in a simple sparring match. As a result, he manages to get to the staff to block some of the force, but it was close enough to still whip around and hit his leg. It stung, but manageable for now.]

[He responds to that by bringing up his sword for a quick stab to the gut, his feet shifting apart from a boxing stance to a wider fencing one to accommodate the weapon.]

My god, my grammar. Forgive me for that last one.

[The sword actually makes good on it's target. Yue makes a sound but seems no worse the wear beyond a moment of delay. Pandaren padding does have some usefulness.

Ah, he's changing stances. She takes note of the wider set of his feet.

Though her own hit was blocked, there was still some contact and Yue can feel her chi rise a bit. It's not enough yet though for anything big and so she settles on an open-palmed strike with her left hand, stepping into it again the way she had the simple jab earlier.

This strike differs from the earlier one however. There's more power behind it, backed by what little chi she's gathered so far. They both seem to be going for gut hits so she aims this one more for the man's chest.

The pandaren seems to rely on the staff on a very off and on basis, preferring her hands by far.]

[The hit connects as it was intended, Minato not expecting a strike like that and not being able to react in time to block or dodge. He's forced to back off a bit, the blow winding him. His free hand moves to draw the Evoker at his waist, but for the moment he decides against it. No use playing that card this early.]

[And now she's back to defending, silently bobbing from foot to foot. And honestly, it looks like she's smiling. He took the hit well and she's impressed but likewise she still wants to see what he does next. The benefit of fighting one without the monk training she's so used to is variety.]

[She wasn't going to follow that up? Hm. Minato decides to take the initiative, in that case. He advances with a low swing, simple, but not something that most experienced swordsman would do. He never had much formal instruction, after all.]

[Monks first and foremost are reactive. While she typically would follow up, she's still trying to judge this boy's abilities.

She tries to block that low swing with her staff, once more pulling it from it's holster with a little twirl to it as she brings it down low.]

[She's fast enough to meet him there, but that wasn't the end of it. He lets his momentum be stopped by the staff, then thrusts at the ground, using it as a support so he can wheel around for a heavy kick.]

[Way he figures it, the only way he could stand a chance without resorting to more lethal methods is to be unpredictable. Stupid, yes, but he doubts this has been done before. At least by normal swordsmen.]

[And he would be correct. Something like that she might have expected from another monk but from a swordsman, no. The kick is good then and Yue has to take a step or two back, a breath of surprise leaving her.]
