[OPEN TO ALL] 2nd DEFENSE MEETING

Location: Near the Botanical Gardens
Characters: EVERYONE AND ANYONE. Ehether it was previously arranged with Fiona, someone else did the convincing, or they just happen to be around at the right time.
Summary: Second Defense Meeting. Some chatting, some sparring, a little showing off, and everything in between.
Warnings: Swearing and violence, very yes.



[Only problem with trying to have the meeting near a botanical garden is unfortunately the spacious non-elevated scenery. At least last time there was rubble to hop on, but no matter. Near the front of the gathering crowd, Fiona will do what she can to find something to stand on and if that’s not enough she’ll tap her staff loudly onto the ground and it’ll produce a bright light for a moment. Hopefully it’s an attention grabber.]

Thank you everyone for coming to our second defense meeting. For those of you coming again and those of you here for the first time, welcome. Although this place itself is hardly one to be welcomed to, I am glad to see others here. We are trying to be a united effort and for this I say welcome to. I’m Fiona and I’m the one who has been coordinating the meetings thus far.

[A short breath as a small bitterness creeps onto her tone of voice] As I can never stress enough, those Initiative bastards here are unorganized fools who trip over themselves while we are expected to win this war of theirs for them. Although they have made some improvements since the recent battle they still lack any generals or commanders to guide us. We are our own guidance and our own defense andit is up to ourselves to keep each other safe and deliver a blow on this enemy of theirs without sacrificing each other to do so.

I won’t lie to you, this defense may not only be one against the UE. In past months the Initiative has performed… tests on those they’ve brought here. These tests have been harmful to us, from poisoning to using our own memories against us. Whatever mishap or cause that they may claim to have brought these tests about still proves their incapability to defend the very soldiers they’ve brought here unwillingly to fight. However just their cause may be, we are on our own to defend ourselves. From whatever may come against us.

For the meeting today, I hope for everyone to get to know one another. That is our greatest disadvantage. We are all from different worlds where some have magic, or technology, or neither. It is impossible to predict what each other are capable of and that is why we must learn. If we do not then lives may be lost for what we never cared to know.

Our third meeting to come we will be deciding our leaders. For as it stands there are none.

Each person attending our meetings will be able to nominate a person they see fit to lead those around them. But they will not be able to nominate themselves. Three nominations and others may vote for them. Those nominated will be allowed to make a short speech during the meeting’s time and answer questions to those concerned. At the end of the meeting we will vote. And hopefully we will have five leaders by the end of our third meeting. These leaders will be choosing groups that the rest of us will adhere to. Come our fourth meeting, we will see if the chosen leaders are the ones right for their positions and if the groups made are truly capable of defending one another.

We will not allow each other to fall.

[She’ll take a moment to look around then before nodding. At least it appears that most were listening.]

[That sounds... extremely unpleasant. And that will show on his face, because one might be an aristocrat used to hiding their true feelings, but one can only take so much in a short amount of time.]

Humans have the power to do this? That is not anything I have ever heard of before.

And the higher-ups of the Initiative let their subordinates do this and do not discipline them when they do?

[She'll settle to a glare, keeping her rage mildly leveled, although his reaction is helping fuel her own.]

[She'll shift her weight a moment, she doesn't want to upset him too much.]

The first test, the man who caused it was killed by one of our own. By that I mean another transport. It was meant to be a way to force the Initiative to cease the poisons but it turns out that the man chosen to be killed as a demonstration was the one who created the poison in the first place. [A bitterness creeps into her tone.] Or so we were told.

The last concerning the memories. I don't know. The one who had brought on the test was punished but made a message later trying to explain. He's alive, most likely. But I'm afraid I hardly know much more than that.

And it is to prevent such happenings, or react to them, that you wished to organize this force, I presume?

[It would make sense, after going through that, to have some people gather an independent force to support each other. Clearly, the Initiative is not trustworthy or straightforward with their captives. Not that he expected them to be, but that is a rather distrubing confirmation of his early suspicions.]

I am not adverse to the idea, but working alongside humans...

[It's not so much that he dislikes them, but he'd have to be careful about them whenever he fights, and he doesn't want to have to do that.]

Yes... Well, sometimes you have to make do with what you have.

The main problem I see with it is the power differential. If I am fighting, I do not have the time [or patience] To make sure humans are out of reach so I will not hurt them by mistake.

And there appear to be quite a few humans interested. Yet people who wield some sort of power appear to eb in the majority. Is this the same in the general populace?

It seems to be a fair enough majority, yes. Most can, at the very least, defend themselves. But there are also children here and those who I am sure have never even witnessed a battle but in a book. That is why this group exists so that we may stand for both.

If you are truly concerned of fighting without injuring those you are defending then perhaps you only need practice. Friendly-fire is likely to happen in any war situation and there are those capable of healing. This doesn't make matters any more acceptable, but I would assume it is much worse to offer no defense at all than risk the potential of minor injuries to those you are defending.

[He is going to freeze and look down his nose at you, because did you seriously imply that he needs more practice, woman? Do you know who you'r speaking to? ... Of course you don't. And he doesn't want to deal with the possibility of having injured people who are potentially on his side. So, as grudging as that may be, he might, indeed, have to practice using his blades around objects that can't move at the speed he's used to when ey's not trying to destroy said objects.]

... We are not exactly talking minor injuries here. My power can obliterate a human being in less than second. Even my spiritual power would be enough to choke and potentially kill most people if I didn't keep it in check.

Are we considering the posibility of having independent units?

Then perhaps you need more practice than you think. [A dragged sigh and she'll hold her head for a moment.]

Even if we have independent units, which I am sure is likely as not everyone is going to agree to work together, other people, allies will still be present on the battlefield. One way or another, it's likely unavoidable.

Well, my kind doesn't normally exist ont he same plane as human beings, and they never even see us when we visit their world. Learning how to fight around them was never a priority.
