[It's just about seven, and M'gann's already in the Hold preparing things for experimentation. There are a few baking sheets laid out as well as some mixing bowls, cutting boards and other, smaller necessities. The actual ingredients will come out once things are fully set up. They don't want them to spoil, after all!]

( it's not much later that Madoka arrives, wearing a smile and carrying a small bag with her. it's been a long few months, so to say she was excited about this little adventure in baking goods for the upcoming masquerade would be quite the understatement.

making her way over, she cannot help giving everything a once over before turning her smile to M'gann. )

Hello again, M'gann! I'm really glad you invited me.

[mgann]

[Her own smile grows at seeing Madoka's, and she nods earnestly.]

I'm glad you were able to make it. This sort of thing is always more fun with company.

[ oh hey, check it out. is this a guinea pig?

why, yes, yes it is! it is a small black hedgehog, normally so stoic and stern, yet now he is enticed by the obvious signs of baked goods on the horizon. Shadow is stealthily peeking in, his little tail wagging curiously behind him.

it has been some time since he nibbled on something sweet. he should get something... ]

[Guinea pig? Well, how about a guy who isn't getting enough calories? That'll work too, right? Hope so, because the sound of things clanging around attracts his attention and he stops in the doorway to check it out.]

Ohhh, baking? What's the occasion? [Yep, invited himself in to look around at their set-up.]

[miiracles]

[ Several feet away, there is a tiny blue-haired girl creeping observing the baking set up. Rika had heard about the masquerade and volunteered to help out with catering as well. She hadn't bothered trying to do experimentation on her own... she doesn't really need to. But she could be a guinea pig!

Though, being new, she was unfamiliar with who else was helping out. She spends a long moment silently watching, before finally speaking up. ]

...mii. What are you making?

[revelation]

Mm, and it's so nice just to do something like this again.

( sitting her bag down, she takes a moment to dig through before removing what is quickly revealed to be an apron. )

I brought a spare apron with me, by the way... if you'd like to use one.

[revelation]

( and shadow might just be in luck too, because there is one batch of cookies coming out of the oven. some things concerning the food here might be a little different, but nothing stops a good cookie and these cookies do smell good.

madoka hasn't noticed him quite yet, busily focused on transferring cookies from the tray to a wire rake for cooling. )

[revelation]

Oh, hello. ( invited or not, someone is all smiles no matter what. ) We're testing out some recipes to make for the masquerade next month.

[revelation]

( madoka pauses stirring a bowlful of different ingredients, surprised at the unfamiliar voice but she smiles soon enough as she spots rika. )

Oh, well... different things, really. Mostly sweets, like cookies. We're sort of running through ideas to make for the masquerade.

[mgann]

[The martian nods in agreement, and her smile turns a little devious when Madoka offers her the apron.]

It's okay, I have my own.

[And like that, M'gann's clothes change from the bottom up to a sweater, pants, and an apron!]

[mgann]

[M'gann's busy with her own tray of cookies, except this one's floating in midair, cookies traveling one by one to a different cooling rack. Gotta love telekinesis.]

Madoka, can you check the timer? I want to know how much longer there is for the casserole.

[mgann]

[Turning, the green skinned girl smiles as well.]

There are some definite keepers so far.

[ cookies. cookies! ah, oh no, it's been far too long since he's had cookies, but he isn't about to just snatch them from right under their noses. that, and the ultimate lifeform shouldn't be displayed in such a shameful position, nibbling cutely on sweets. preposterous!





you know what, screw it. if it's wrong, he isn't about to be right. he is already purring beyond his control anyway. loudly, so loudly. that would probably bring him to their attention, and if not, he is highly considering approaching for a sample. ]

[mgann]

M'gann doesn't look over quite yet, since her attention is still focused on chopping vegetables. After a moment, she spares a glance and smile.]

I'm working on stew.

[revelation]

Oh, wow! That's so neat.

( she wonders if her own magic could be capable of something like that as she ties her apron behind her, finally moving to the counter. ) So, what sort of things did you have in mind to try?

[revelation]

Sure! You have a little under five minutes left. It was looking good when I checked—

( oh, she definitely hears that.

cue madoka's curious glance around before reddish eyes fall on a rather unfamiliar sight. )

Oh! Hello there.

[mgann]

It does come in handy.

[The counter's littered with all sorts of things, probably enough to make whatever they come up with.]

Cake and cookies for sure, but what about some main course items? Maybe a lasagna or casserole?

[mgann]

Good, but what's that noi--

[Cookies pause in the air as M'gann looks at Shadow curiously.]

Hi. Can we help you with something?

[revelation]

Well, I'm definitely better at making sweets and I had a few ideas to try.

But hmm, both of those sound really good... though I've never made lasagna before.

[emptysword]

[His cooking sense is tingling.

Okay no, not really, but he's certainly noticed that there's a pair doing just that in The Hold, so he's going to just... take a peek, and just look around. Better keep quiet until they notice him, since cooking is a sacred thing to do alright...]

[obfuskate]

[ his eyes slip shut for the briefest moment, olive nose twitching as he sniffed, taking in the pleasant scent of sugar and dough. he opens them up again, his own red eyes mirroring madoka's, then trailing over to the strange, green-skinned humanoid. ]

Hello. Did you... make those entirely from scratch?

[ goodness, his tail is wagging insanely. shadow really does love his sweets. ]

[Nepeta is always up for sweets. And tea. Those two are definitely vices of hers, so when her sharp nose detects the sweet scent of goodies she can't help but follow it. She approaches them slowly, arms folded behind her back and smiles]

That smells really good!

[revelation]

Mm, we did! Would you like to try one for us? We are in need of of a taste tester.

[revelation]

( and you are in for quite the sight, shirou.

madoka looks conflicted though as she stares at the cookies in front of her, a bag of frosting in hand. )

I'm glad this is all for practice, this doesn't look anything like a star.

[revelation]

( madoka looks up in surprise, but gives a smile at the voice. )
