[The location Frank had given him was pretty far out, Jack realized as he started on his way. Which was also the reason why it took him a while to get there.

Shouldn't he have been in one of the appartment buildings? Not that he'd blame him for not wanting to stay with other people, but even then there were safer alternatives... probably. It was hard to tell with those Masked swarming the city and even the outlands; where he and Laurence had first encountered them.

He still wasn't sure what to make of those guys. Everything about them just... rubbed him the wrong way, and Frank - was probably interested in them for another reason, and he already suspected that no matter how often he told him to stay away, his advice would just fall upon deaf ears.

So, he thought, he's gotten himself into trouble while he himself had been busy. Again. Jack was starting to sense a pattern here, and again he found himself on his way to somehow fix things.

(Though shouldn't the boy be grown up by this point? Maybe not.)

He'd 'borrowed' another vehicle for this trip, abandoning it at the side of the road once he reached his destination. He doublechecked the coordinates again, making sure that it was really this shithole he was supposed to find...

Might be a trap. That's what the rational part of his brain told him, but he really couldn't give a damn; something that happened quite often. Frowning to himself, he briefly checked his surroundings for any signs of the Masked, before entering quietly.]

[Fox hadn't originally intended to end up so far out. He'd trailed the Masked for a long time as they swept through the city, looking for an opportunity... and then he'd fucked up. His first priority after that had been to find himself a safehouse and go to ground. He could rest up, lick his wounds, and plan his next move.

Big Boss had contacted him before he could make that move, demanding to know his location. It would have been easier to head back into the city himself, more sensible to compromise and meet half-way— especially now that, with a tracking chip implanted in his back, Fox was certain the Masked would simply ignore him. But it had been clear at the time that neither of them were in the mood for arguing. So now, he's simply waiting. Chain smoking. Waiting some more.

Even without threat from the Masked, Fox is wary. There was no doubting that they were not the only danger in this place. When he hears a vehicle approaching, he's on his feet in a second, stubbing out his cigarette under his boot and edging over to the window with its broken glass. The car stops just outside, and Fox watches as a man gets out. It's undoubtedly Big Boss, albeit much younger than he should be.

He slips away from the window as the man approaches. When Big Boss enters, the building is as good as empty. But there's a pale shadow haunting his steps, taking advantage of his blind side and observing him silently. Fox is waiting to see what he does... and waiting for an opportunity.]
