(open) crash into me
Date & Time: Mid-afternoon Sunday, May 5th
Location: The Hold and Housing Complex
Characters: All who wish to be in the vicinity!
Summary: The Initiative asked for the Housing Complex to be evacuated starting early morning on 5/5, in preparation for the expected landing of the spaceship stolen from the United Earth. The landing goes horribly wrong when an undiscovered bomb detonates onboard the ship, causing partial engine failure. The ship proceeds to be crash landed into the Housing Complex; no lives, however, are lost.
Warnings: Spaceship crash landings it's all horrible!
Notes: Respond in action tags or prose, as you please!
The ship breaks cloud-cover as a spot of light in the dreary skies, leaving behind the beauty of sunlight above the broken cloud layer as it continues to descend. With the Initiative having instigated an evacuation of the area ahead of time, just in case, those watching in the light drizzle may find it an interesting sight to behold.
Doubtlessly, the United Earth, from its great distance, may have also found it interesting.
The first sign of something going wrong is an explosion visible from the ground. People who hear it might startle; the ship itself goes from a smooth, controlled flight path to one wobbly and filled with dark, flaming smoke. The whine of its remaining engine is slower to reach the ground, though the ship itself seems to pick up a spiraling speed, still controlled to those familiar with watching things that fly come crashing down to the ground.
The Initiative members on the ground are calling for people to get back and take cover. Inside the main Hold, one man at the transport pads hears his radio blast to life and swallows past his own fear, glancing at the active pad waiting to pull in another unlucky soul.
When the ship hits the Housing Complex, it demolishes the upper levels, though the force with which it hits doesn't seem to be the same as what it should be. Combined telekinetic buffering and excellent piloting from a former Guardian of theUniverse Galaxy keeps damage to a catastrophic minimum.
Welcome to the fallout. What will you do from here?

Damn it!
[And then he races toward the building, trying to push past anyone who accidentally or purposefully gets in his way. He's obviously dead set on getting inside. It's not like he has a kitten stashed in his room that followed him home
in his pocketor anything.Try to stop him? Help him get in the door? Help him while inside? The choice is yours!]

[Ada isn't even sure how she ought to react to that spaceship - before it crashed, she was just staring at it in utter shock as she makes her way back from a quaint little cafe. Then it crashes, and she's too stunned to even make a move.
But a moment later there's a blur of motion out of the corner of her eye and she turns to see Elliot dashing... towards the housing complex.
It takes her a moment, but soon enough she's running after him.]
Wait, you can't go in there alone! It might be dangerous!
no subject
That's exactly why I have to go in there, Ada Vessalius! What are you doing, any-OOF!
[Why hello, derelict pole, when did you get there?]
no subject
[Crashing into a pole... it's like something out of a bad comedy! Though it does give Ada enough time to catch up to him, at least. She kneels down to try and help him up.
(Part of her knows he probably won't like that, but...)
A moment later, she glances at the building and bites her lip.]
What's in there that's so important that you're going to put yourself in grave danger to get it?
no subject
[Which also doesn't make sense, but he's a stubborn one.
And, speaking of, she is definitely the last person he wants to admit to about the cat. Time to think of an incredibly vague way to explain this...]
I'm all but positive that...one of my roommates is still in there.
no subject
[A moment passes, and as Ada's words sink in, she looks shocked that she actually said such a thing to Elliot. She flushes a mortified red and turns away from him to dart into the apartment complex, calling back over her shoulder -]
Which room is yours?
no subject
You really do think you can do whatever you want just because you're related to a hero! If there are more people in there, that just-!
[She's already running in, good grief. Well, he'll just have to follow her because despite being a Vessalius, he's not letting someone get hurt; especially not on his behalf.]
It's on the sixth floor! I doubt you'll even make it!

no subject
You can do that, too?!
[He heads toward the bag in an attempt to pick it up before anyone else can get to it.]
no subject
You've seen someone go into thought-form?
no subject
Thought-form? I just mean you were invisible. I...came across someone else here who can do that.
no subject
[The curiosity and hope that lit the young man's face before quickly vacates. Mahdi puts on a brave expression, though, offering a nod of assurance.]
There are so many amazing people here! They can do all kinds of things.
[Mahdi looks over to the disaster, grimacing with worry.]
Hope everyone's okay...
no subject
What were you talking about? And what's in that bag?
There's no way you can know that if you just stand here.

Connected to that hand happens to be Leo. Leo who is very much looking worse for wear, with his tattered clothing having more obvious (bloodied) tears, but his concern isn't on how he might appear. It's solely on why Elliot is moving towards danger. It's a silent question that's asked in the urgent, imploring look he gives his friend. ]
Elliot?
no subject
Leo? Release me! I have to-! What the hell happened to you?!
no subject
I'm fine. [ It's the truth at least. More importantly . . . ] What are you doing?
no subject
I'm going to my room! I need be to certain everyone made it out of there!
[He tries to tug his arm out of Leo's grip.]
no subject
You left the cat?
[ His tone is incredulous and it's quickly followed by an exasperated sigh. There's no way Elliot would just leave it to the Initiative members to get her out so there's no choice. Rather than letting go, Leo tightens his grip as he pulls Elliot behind him. One glance to the building is enough to tell him there's no easy way they can get through the rubble blocking the entrance. Digging through all that would take too long.
Good thing then that Leo now has something to easily fix that. ]
Jabberwock! [ With just the call of its name, it shimmers into existence and knows what to do: blast a way through. With that done, Leo casually shifts his grip to Elliot's wrist as he starts walking forward, an odd reversal from how Elliot would usually drag him away from danger, Jabberwock skittering on ahead in front of them. ]

[Elliot can only stare at the Chain in surprise. So that was the thing Leo had contracted with? After his experiences with Humpty Dumpty, he really was not glad to get this undeniable confirmation that he had turned to the very source of the problem.
Due to pondering this, he doesn't realize Leo is leading him forward until a few seconds after it begins. Then again, they were getting inside, so fighting him was pretty stupid if he wanted to be certain Arietta was safe. Still, he's not sure if this contract is legal or illegal, and Leo's just using it for something like this?]
Be careful with that chain!

She empathizes, and it wouldn't hurt to ask what the hell he's doing and why. Besides, he's less likely to hurt himself and worry anyone he cares about if someone's helping him out, right? She rushes over to him.]
Hey, you! Why are you trying to get in so badly? [...] I won't stop you or anything, but it looks like it's important.
no subject
He frowns at her in exasperation, pausing for just a second to answer.]
Because I don't think my room is empty!
[And with that he's going to keep trying to push forward.}
no subject
Then I'll help you get in...! [If his room isn't empty, then that means someone is trouble. That's not something that's easily ignorable for her!]
no subject
[Yes, yes it does. Not that he doesn't want to get in but it's not like he can't shove just as well. And just to prove that, he goes back to working his way in too moments later.]
Do you even realize what you might be getting into?!
