Characters: All who wish to be in the vicinity!
Summary: The Initiative asked for the Housing Complex to be evacuated starting early morning on 5/5, in preparation for the expected landing of the spaceship stolen from the United Earth. The landing goes horribly wrong when an undiscovered bomb detonates onboard the ship, causing partial engine failure. The ship proceeds to be crash landed into the Housing Complex; no lives, however, are lost.

The ship breaks cloud-cover as a spot of light in the dreary skies, leaving behind the beauty of sunlight above the broken cloud layer as it continues to descend. With the Initiative having instigated an evacuation of the area ahead of time, just in case, those watching in the light drizzle may find it an interesting sight to behold.

Doubtlessly, the United Earth, from its great distance, may have also found it interesting.

The first sign of something going wrong is an explosion visible from the ground. People who hear it might startle; the ship itself goes from a smooth, controlled flight path to one wobbly and filled with dark, flaming smoke. The whine of its remaining engine is slower to reach the ground, though the ship itself seems to pick up a spiraling speed, still controlled to those familiar with watching things that fly come crashing down to the ground.

The Initiative members on the ground are calling for people to get back and take cover. Inside the main Hold, one man at the transport pads hears his radio blast to life and swallows past his own fear, glancing at the active pad waiting to pull in another unlucky soul.

When the ship hits the Housing Complex, it demolishes the upper levels, though the force with which it hits doesn't seem to be the same as what it should be. Combined telekinetic buffering and excellent piloting from a former Guardian of the Universe Galaxy keeps damage to a catastrophic minimum.

Welcome to the fallout. What will you do from here?

[Shintaro had left the rabbit with his sister and Kido before following Kano to the rubble. It's a desolate scene he hasn't seen in anything outside of video games or movies or television shows, and it fills him with a sense of foreboding to smell the dust and the smoke and feel dirt sticking to his skin and clothes and hair. It's different from the bomb in the mall.]

What sorts of stuff did you and Kido have, anyway?

[The sight isn't a pleasant one for Kano either, but he's not going to show it. He slinks through the rubble with an easy, lazy stride, peering back now and then to see if anyone's watching. There's no formal law enforcement in Exsilium, but he'd rather not get on the bad side of any uptight do-gooders.

He waits up for Shintaro, slowing his pace now and then. He folds his hands behind his head.]

Ah, just a few things we picked up here and there. Nothing we can't replace of course, but some were from missions, so they'd be rather troublesome to find again.

[To be honest, it makes him feel sick. He thinks about the terrorists and how they threatened to detonate a bomb that could've easily damaged his own house. That was just one attack, but it's slowly sinking in that -- despite all of Kano's nonchalance and Kido's reassurances -- this is war.]

... I'll help carry since I'm out here, anyway.

[He follows Kano with less ease, but he doesn't stumble too much.]

What a gentleman you are, Shintaro! [He kicks over a small piece of debris, sending it tumbling down. The destroyed upper floors will be hard to reach. They'll have to stick to scavenging the lower floors. He tries the door of one of the still-standing apartments to see if it's locked.]

You might be lucky--I don't think we'll find much out here.

Well, with our bare hands, moving the rubble will be pointless effort. A lot of what was on the upper floors probably burned from the explosion, too. I'm surprised none of the people on the craft ... well, it's good they're alive.

It's a stroke of good luck. It's a miracle, really, seeing how nobody died. Something as serious as this usually ends up... ah, there we go! [The door swings open. Kano walks in.]

But as I was saying... we're all very lucky. It seems that whenever a disaster happens near you, Shintaro, it doesn't go as badly as it could've!

... I guess so.

[He keeps the answer short, not wanting to continue it. The "disaster" at the mall ended better than anything else he ever got into. But it's just a coincidence, and Kano's just reading into it. Disasters are still disasters, and disasters only happen when people are there.

That's why you shouldn't go outside.

He frowns, hoping Kano isn't in the middle of deceiving, hoping Kano actually is looking ahead of them rather than at him. ]

[As expected, Shintaro doesn't provide much conversation. Not that Kano minds. He's had experience in dealing with the quiet types, mainly by talking loud and long enough to fill the pauses here and there. And for someone who seemed so meek and weak at first glance, the newbie's an interesting sort who seems to have more than he appears. He caught a glimpse of that intriguing look back at the mall, though it had yet to show itself again. It's partially why he insisted on having Shintaro come along--to get to know him better, despite the resistance.

Reactions are what he's looking for and what he'll prod for. Beneath his mask, he glances back.]

It looks like this place is in decent shape. [He opens a drawer, shuts it.] Is there anything you'd want? Strange soda? Clothes?

I'm fine with these. I don't want to get called a thief if people find me with their clothes. [Confrontations DNW. Besides, there's a chance that the clothes belong to some of those people whose clothes are basically cosplay back home. He would rather pick up Momo's fashion.]

... Something to drink sounds good, though.

Come to think of it, have you bought yourself any new clothes? Even if you plan on staying inside all day, you should add onto your wardrobe. Otherwise you'll be labeled a slob, too.

[He wanders into the kitchen and starts to search through the fridge. Sorry Shintaro, he doesn't find any Coca-Cola. He does, however, find lukewarm milk and juice.] Which one would you like?

Huh? Of course I did. [He never needed many because he wore around a few sets of clothes back in his hikiNEET days, but just one outfit -- especially one outfit that he was forced to walk around in that blazing heat in and then the downpour here -- would be gross.]

.. I'll take juice.

Shouldn't Shintaro change his attire up then? You look the same as you arrived. Maybe you should let your sister dress you up, ku ku~

[He doesn't bother searching for a glass. He tosses it at Shintaro. Here, drink it from the carton buddy.]

We don't share the same tastes, unfortunately. Leave me alone; I washed these.

[He catches it and opens up the carton, peering in and smelling the contents before he dares take a drink.]

Wouldn't it be cute, though? Ah, I bet Kisaragi would be excited at a chance to show off her fashion skills.

[He doesn't touch the rest of the food--who knows if they're still good or not. He opens the cabinets and holds out some colorful plates to Shintaro.] What do you think about these?

They're plates. What are we going to do with them? I mean, I know you came here to scout... [but he still thinks it's stealing] but we're not going to have anywhere to keep them.

[It's totally stealing.] So quick to judge, just like a critical housewife! We need to replace a lot of things we lost in the evacuation. Don't you think these plates suit the girls~?

... I don't know about Kido, but if it's for Momo, it's missing a stupid design.

Ah, isn't that harsh to say about your own sister? You're a terrible older brother, Shintaro.

[He pushes the plates towards Shintaro's grasp anyway.] Ku ku... but you certainly have the quiet and meek demeanor to be one!

[He ignores Kano's comment, takes the plates without thinking. Then he regrets it. He needs to not take everything that's handed to him.]

What's that supposed to mean??

Eh? Nothing, nothing... I'm sure that sort of mousey personality is a refreshing change compared to what most guys have~

I'm not mousey! Do you have a problem or something?

Problem? What problem? Shintaro sure is assuming a lot!

Then-- augh, never mind! What else do you need!

[He glances around the place.] This apartment is depressingly bare... ah, I suppose we won't find anything interesting. Let's go to the next.

... If you're going to take these, can we at least find something to carry them in? My arms will get tired.
