Location: The Hold and Housing Complex

Summary: The Initiative asked for the Housing Complex to be evacuated starting early morning on 5/5, in preparation for the expected landing of the spaceship stolen from the United Earth. The landing goes horribly wrong when an undiscovered bomb detonates onboard the ship, causing partial engine failure. The ship proceeds to be crash landed into the Housing Complex; no lives, however, are lost.

The ship breaks cloud-cover as a spot of light in the dreary skies, leaving behind the beauty of sunlight above the broken cloud layer as it continues to descend. With the Initiative having instigated an evacuation of the area ahead of time, just in case, those watching in the light drizzle may find it an interesting sight to behold.

Doubtlessly, the United Earth, from its great distance, may have also found it interesting.

The first sign of something going wrong is an explosion visible from the ground. People who hear it might startle; the ship itself goes from a smooth, controlled flight path to one wobbly and filled with dark, flaming smoke. The whine of its remaining engine is slower to reach the ground, though the ship itself seems to pick up a spiraling speed, still controlled to those familiar with watching things that fly come crashing down to the ground.

The Initiative members on the ground are calling for people to get back and take cover. Inside the main Hold, one man at the transport pads hears his radio blast to life and swallows past his own fear, glancing at the active pad waiting to pull in another unlucky soul.

When the ship hits the Housing Complex, it demolishes the upper levels, though the force with which it hits doesn't seem to be the same as what it should be. Combined telekinetic buffering and excellent piloting from a former Guardian of the ~~Universe~~ Galaxy keeps damage to a catastrophic minimum.

[Shintaro was a fair distance away from the building when the explosion happened. He'd contemplated staying away where it was safer, but instead he'd made his way back to the location, rabbit in his arms, to find where his sister had gone. Sure, she's probably got Kido (and Kano) around, but she was still clumsy and with the way she drew people's attention, there was the risk that she would get stuck in a crowd somewhere.

So he's racing toward the Housing Complex as fast as having a rabbit in his arms would let him when he spots the familiar pink jacket and -- brown? orange? blond? -- hair.]

-- Momo!

[At the sound of her name, Momo stumbles to a halt, her breath coming in ragged gasps. That. That was definitely her brother's voice. And if he's nearby then...

She whirls around to find the source of the voice, quickly spotting him, the rabbit in his arms. He's safe, he wasn't near the Housing Complex at all. Her big brother's safe and it's such a relief... not that she's about to actually tell him that. Not at all.]

You're okay! [The words are out before she can even think about them, then she's closing the distance between them, back to running.]

Stupid, come on! We can't go that way.

No kidding! I know that, let's go! [He steps toward her, too, freeing a hand from holding the rabbit and grabbing for hers with it, tugging her toward him urgently. He immediately changes direction to lead her away from the building.]

We need to get somewhere the rubble and fire won't fall on us...

[He grips her hand tight. She's alive and they need to stay alive. He wasn't expecting danger to hit them like this so soon.]

[She doesn't hesitate to hold onto his hand, increasing her speed to keep up with him. They're safe for the moment, completely fine, and will remain that way if she has any say in it.]

Where's the rest of the Mekakushi Dan? [she asks, the proper name coming easily this time.] We can go with them!

I haven't looked for them yet. But it's Kano and Kido, right? They don't have a Mary to lose track of, so we can catch up with them once we're somewhere safer.

[He seems to have easily accepted his own sudden and forced membership into the dan, at least.]

[She nods and, upon realizing he might not actually see that, in their haste to get away, speaks up,] Yes, it's just the two of them here right now!

[Not that she's entirely sure whether Mary not being here is a good thing or not, but... Well, this isn't the best time to think about it.]

Right. When we get away from this place... They've gotta know where we can go!

Yeah. Kido said she's been here for three months so they'll know the area better than we do.

[He glances over his shoulder at her, then at the building, before he clenches his teeth and quickens his pace a little, still mindful not to run too fast for Momo.]

She at least would answer calls on that tablet, I think.

[She's silent for a moment, focusing on following Shintaro and not letting go. It isn't as if she's had much trouble yet, but she doesn't know how safe the whole place is either.]

I can call her. I just need a moment, I can call her now!

[With her free hand, she's already carefully reaching for her own tablet, intent on not dropping it.]

Don't get distracted right now, I'm pulling you but people are running, too. If you drop it we're not going back for it.

Besides, it's this chaos. We don't know if Kido will hear you calling either, so just wait until we're somewhere safe!

[She nods, a tad shakily, not bothering with whether he looks back or not. Right. He's right. She wants nothing more than to just contact Kido and Kano already, but... It'll have to wait for the moment.]

Ah... Okay. Okay! But... [She gasps in a breath, tightening her hold on her brother's hand.] But as soon as we're safe, I'm calling her! We'll find her and Kano as soon as we can.

[When he feels her tightening her hold, he tightens his grip, too. It's something of an automatic reaction, something from way back when, when they were both smaller and she still came crying to him.]

Yeah, that works. Then we can find each other and find somewhere to stay until this is all over... let's go to the Hold.

Yeah, that'll be safe for now. It's... far enough away.

[She sneaks a quick glance over her shoulder, before setting her eyes forward again. Thankfully, it isn't long until she catches sight of their destination in the distance and she elets out a sigh in relief.]

We're almost there!

Yeah. [He narrowly avoids plowing into someone going a different direction.]

Let's take that bench.

[He'll lead her there, putting the rabbit down on the seat and making sure Shiro calms down after the run before he straightens, looking at Momo. It's always raining here; he hopes she's dressed a little bit more warmly than when they first got here.]

[She drops down onto the bench next to Shiro once they've stopped, breathing out a sigh as she does so. Once she's sitting, she adjusts her hoodie slightly, pulling out the tablet again. Probably not the best for rain, but she hasn't gotten around to getting a raincoat just yet.]

Haaaaah, we're okay for now. We'll... be okay...

[She sits up straighter, looking up at Shintaro.] I can call them now.

[Shintaro, however, has acquired an umbrella! He just didn't want it to slow him down while they were running. But he pulls it out now and opens it, holding it over his sister and making sure the rabbit doesn't get too wet, nudging him closer to Momo before he drops himself on the bench next to her, Shiro between them.]

Yeah. [He tries to catch his breath from all the running.] Tell them where we are... and ask them where we can meet up.
