September 11th - BADGER ATTACK

[Those screams are like nothing Jaime's ever heard before, and he slows down once he hears them, eyes going instinctively towards Nathan to see what he's doing. A gun sounds like a good idea, he supposes, but there's not much for him to prepare when his guns are his hands. The way his brow crinkles is clear even underneath the armour.]
Is that someone dying or did someone manage to bring a raptor back with them?
no subject
Humans don't make those kinds of sounds. It's probably a wild animal.
[Or a raptor, whatever those are. Hell if she knows, but she's careful to keep her back to the group and watch her front. Dammit, where is that noise coming from?]
no subject
There's another somewhat muffled scream and a patch of loose forest debris heaves itself upward to show what looks like a badger - if badgers where roughly the size of a small dog - headed straight for Nate. There are other similar calls which signal that this one isn't alone]

[For all of Jaime's flat, unimpressed disbelief, he doesn't waste much time springing into action. He doesn't exactly want to whip out the laser beams for this, so instead he morphs one arm into a long, thick blade and bats away the badger heading at Nate, catching it at its midsection.]
is it okay if i hop in here?
[Badgers. Seriously? Haruto's bullets are meant for monsters, usually, but they'll work just as well on these things, which have begun to show themselves despite their seemingly fearless leader flying away in pieces. He changes rings, but he doesn't want to transform until he has to. Days of traveling with minimum rest made his mana recharge slower than he'd like.
His bullets fly around allies, by virtue of being magic, so he's not too worried as he fires at the ones only now beginning to appear.]
fine with me~
[His bullets may fly around them, but Lightning still throws herself into a roll to get out of his line of fire, coming up with electric sparks leaping between her fingers. She makes a gesture with that hand, and it's with a shar crack and the smell of scorched ozone that the bolt of lightning crashes down onto a badger that was trying to make her a bloody meal. It's stunned, but she gives it no chance to recover and attacks it headfirst with her blade. Only when it's dead does she speak again.]
Focus on the fight!
Hope you don't mind a draconic flyby here
Several barriers springing up around the group to help protect the group and funnel the attacking creatures to choke points. In the distance several small groups of individuals that looked and sounded rather like them sprang into existence, each group moving in a different direction. Luring portion of the badgers off on fruitless chases.]
and a cyborg
As much as he wants to fight-as much as his blood cries out for it-he stays put at Nathan's side in a defensive stance, only striking out at beasts that somehow make it too close for comfort]

despite not being in the above thread because mun wanted to avoid clusterfuckhas a couple of dead badgers to her name, and so does Kirara, still jumbo-sized and padding wearily beside her back to camp. Once set up she sits down and examines her own wounds, frowning more at the tears in her black leotard than at the wounds themselves.]Damn, I'm going to have to take this to the tailor again.

[That, or switch to something tougher. But the ease of movement is hard to give up.]

It's worth packing, usually - they don't take up much space. If you're in a pinch, the medical tape in the first aid kit is pretty sturdy.
[By which he means, if you're edging on wardrobe malfunction. He goes through an lot of shirts, he gets how it can be]

Smart. Is it armored at all?

The Initiative might have some armored bodysuits - probably nothing that can take a real major beating, but stuff that'll resist most scrapes and cuts.

[It's more than just a suit; it's part of a culture she's the only one left to perpetuate.]

Don't toss it, then - but remember that you have to be prepared to lose anything you bring onto the battlefield. Material things aren't worth your life or the life of the people you're fighting alongside. [see also: why Nate doesn't name his weapons]

[There's the barest hint of an approving smile] Good - some people let sentimentality make them stupid, over things that aren't worth it.
no subject
I like to think I know what's worth it and what isn't.

[He just nods - she seems like she has a good head on her shoulders, so he thinks he can probably trust that assertion]
