[Lucky for her, handshakes are common with his kind, and he takes her hand with his own heavily scarred one, careful to keep his claws from her skin. His grip isn't very strong.]

What are you doing out so late at night?

[A brief hint of her signature sad-looking smile in return, and she glances around them.] Couldn't sleep. [It's .. Mostly a lie. But she's good at lying. She didn't even try and sleep. She's stressed, and feels very alone, and is sick of just being in her apartment every night.] It gets boring here sometimes. .....Which I guess is really weird to say when we're kidnapped to fight in a war.

I couldn't sleep either.

[For him, it's not a lie.]

It doesn't sound weird at all. No war ever has battles happening constantly; I know that from experience.

[breakablegirl]

Oh, good. [She replies with a near-smile, though it's mostly for show.] I almost wish there'd be more action, but I know how terrible war-like things can be. [Her moment of energy fades and she looks distant again.]
