[Open] Underground Meetings Literally Underground
Date & Time: WAY BACKDATED to February 15th with Morning / Afternoon / Evening options
Location: The catacombs which look cool if you forgot (cool is important)
Characters: Kido, Kano and anyone who wants to stop by for a gang meeting! You're free to assume your character was spoken to if you want, too. Handwaving the recruiting is cool with us. Or your character can just happen across them?? Whatever works!
Summary: Kido and Kano have been recruiting for their gang, the Mekakushi Dan, and now is the meeting. Feel free to mingle! Become a gang family.
NOTE! They would also inform characters to stick around for the evening meeting if they want to hear something more serious.
Warnings: Uhmmm none that I can think of!
Morning Option:
[The morning is the most relaxed. Kido and Kano have a lot of work to do when it comes to cleaning up the catacombs! Of course, they had to pick a larger area not too far in, away from the sewer areas so it isn't as damp and gross. It's still cold, though. They put up arrows so no one would get lost even though it doesn't take much to find the area.
There aren't chairs or anything like that to sit in but bricks and old rocks are being cleaned up to make sitting space. Also, there's soda and various snacks sitting on a particularly large rock.
Come help if you want and possibly get some early information out of them!]
Afternoon Option:
[After running around, chatting with all the newcomers Kano's decided to speak up. Now's an excellent time to get down to business! He's hopped onto one of the rocks to elevate himself (being short is hard) and shouts:]
Hey, hey! [He waves his hand rapidly in the air.] Ah, first--thanks for coming, everyone! We wouldn't have known what to do with all these snacks if you guys didn't show up.
I'm kidding, I'm kidding! But really, we appreciate your interest. Let me explain what we plan to do!
When most of us arrived we were a little overwhelmed. I knew I was. Being dropped into another world is a pretty heavy experience, right? Some of us weren't sure where to go or who to turn to! It's a very disheartening way to begin a new life. [Kano snaps his fingers.] So! We, the Mekakushi Dan, will help those new transports!
Whether it's through food or clothes or even umbrellas, we'll lend them a helping hand and show them that we care. We'll be the welcoming committee that Exsilium doesn't have, the newbies' unofficial family! With your help, we'll help them settle in and ease into their lives here.
We're open to ideas, so if you have any... feel free to shout them out!
Evening Option:
[By the time things wind down and it's getting dark, Kido steps up. She's perfectly at ease with this part of things. When she speaks, it's in her usual gruff but serious tone.]
...I don't know how much you guys know about the Initiative but they aren't praiseworthy. It's a war, so no one is clean, but they haven't treated us the best. It isn't just this. I've been looking into the network and past posts. I'm not going to tell you what to think or how to act towards them, though.
[She shoves her hands into her hoodie pocket.] What I'm saying is that I'm putting us first. We need to keep an eye on anyone that might threaten us, that might use us or hurt us. So, if you want to help with that or you're interested in looking closer at these Initiative people and the ones they're fighting, we'd appreciate the help.
It's your call. If you only want to be part of the community help, that's fine. But you know at least what Kano and I are going to be doing. We'll keep you updated if you want, too. We're going to keep you guys safe as best as we can from anything.

Do you know what's a good distraction for people like Judal? People like Kariya. And of course it's mid-morning, because Judal lives for nothing if not to be an incredible pest.]
Oh, look who it is!
[He swings an arm around the man, nearly knocking their heads together with the force, and lifts his other hand to wave at a girl some feet away.]
Hey, Kougyoku, get over here! I'm gonna introduce you to someone.
no subject
Hello...
no subject
... Judal? What--
[The invasion of personal space throws him off much more than being suddenly accosted and introduced -- if scooting away wouldn't have actually landed him on the floor he'd be on the other side of the room by now.
That being said... He's left blinking blankly at... a pair of sleeves?]
Uh, yes. Kougyoku, was it?
no subject
Right! Kougyoku's from my country. She's super strong, but she's got no life experience at all. Sad, right? She won't even show her face!
[He swings to face Kougyoku now, gesturing to Kariya with one hand.]
This is Kariya. He's a magus, but he doesn't even have a borg, and he didn't know what rukh is! Weird, right? But he's not bad, if you don't poor water on his head.
[He laughs again. Neither of them are going to get the full extent of what he means by that joke until later, but who cares?]
no subject
Forgive the oracle's rudeness. I... I am Kougyoku Ren. [ She bows her head. ] It is a pleasure, [ She hesitates before bowing a little more. ] to meet you, Sir Kariya.
[ She can't bring herself to say anything more than that. But a magus without a borg, huh? That is strange. ]
no subject
Please, there's no need. [For the apology or anything else.] Kariya is fine.
[He remembers this girl vaguely from the network -- he remembers her knowing Judal, certainly, and confusingly, because she'd seemed harmless at the time. Not that it's useful to judge a book by its cover, but if she's the same sort of being as Judal -- that puts quite a different spin on things. Perhaps.]
It's nice to meet you too. You're also a magi?
[
Come to think of it, what is a borg? He's going to guess it doesn't have anything to do with Star Trek.]no subject
[Judal just cracks up at the thought, holding his face with one hand and his stomach with the other. It's okay to ignore him, everyone, he'll be a minute with this.]
Ahaha! If she's a magi, then somebody like you is must be a god!
[He shakes his head, still laughing and trying to catch his breath.]
1/2
No, I am only human...
no subject
[ Kougyoku gets the feeling that she should stop explaining herself, so she shakes her head and shuts up. ] Um, nevermind. I mustn't show it here...
no subject
[He is the most embarrassingly ignorant magus, it is him. Though in this case he has an excuse, he still feels bad for giving Judal an excuse to be a brat. (Though, he also gets the feeling this happens a lot, watching their interaction. At least it's friendly, given the amount of magic currently in one place.)
If Kougyoku wants to backpedal, well... Kariya's been there. He has enough to take a vague guess at her abilities, and she seems like a nice enough girl -- that's good enough.]
So how do you two know each other?
[Let's hope that's a safe question...]
no subject
[Judal wipes at his eyes, laughter finally stopped. He tilts his head and shifts his gaze from one of them to the other, gauging their responses to one another.]
She's one of my candidates to be king! Isn't that right, Ms. Not-Magi?
[Rude. Super rude!! And judging by the grin on his face, he either knows it or just doesn't care.]
no subject
That's correct, but he didn't need to know that, Judal. [ Well, since it's out there... ] I am the Kou Empire's Eighth Imperial Princess and Judal's king candidate. Judal has been with us since we were little.
no subject
Kougyoku seems to feel as though that's her role, anyway... His answer is a little confused.]
That's impressive -- that is-- [should he ask this?] --The kings of your kingdom are chosen by magi?
[... Not so different from his own world, in regards to who's holding the reins of power.]
no subject
[Judal straightens up, proud of his status and Kougyoku's. It might be obvious by now that he's really showing off to Kariya, even as he's insulting everyone involved. Oh, well.]
Not every king is picked by a magi, and not every candidate chosen becomes a king, but the ones worth knowing about are!
no subject
Sir Kariya, are you a magus of a king as well?
no subject
[At this point, he really feels he ought to say something
so Judal stops leaving muddy pawprints all over everybody-- he thinks he can sympathize with the princess a little, even if her station is far above his.Anyway. He coughs in response to her question -- coughs a couple more times, because when it rains, it pours -- talk about an awkward situation on every side.]
Ah, no, nothing like that at all. I'm just... [An accident? He can't quite say that -- it was a very deliberate choice, made with great and terrible clarity.] I'm something of a beginner.
[Close enough.]
no subject
A beginner? Yeah, you've got no skill, so that's about right.
[He points at Kariya as he continues to speak.]
But you know, Kougyoku, this guy has done a lot to get this strong, I can tell! He's worth having around, even if we need to beat some knowledge into him.
no subject
no subject
In the end, he's not even sure whether he's being insulted or complimented -- the discussion's taken a turn for the somewhat alarming, though. Especially since he doesn't know what this girl can actually do. However...]
I wouldn't mind, a little later on. I'm still, ah, adjusting.
[He still doesn't know how much of his own power he can use, and exactly how his 'weapon' affects the whole, after all. He shouldn't throw caution to the winds just yet.]
--And please, just call me Kariya.
no subject
[Is that supposed to be a joke or serious? Difficult to tell, especially consider how much he was just boasting about her strength.
He pumps his arm in the air, excited.]
Yeah! If you're gonna treat this guy as a partner, you should call him by his name, like an equal, right? That way he'll be serious with you. He'll be a better partner than Koubun, anyway.
no subject
Ka Koubun does tend to hold back. I hope you won't do the same when the time comes... Kariya.
Judal, let us not bother him any further. [ Judal's made the encounter awkward enough, and Kougyoku's shy. ]
no subject
[If he died in nothing but a sparring session, he really would be among the dregs of the Transports, considering everything about his powers. He doesn't have Berserker here, but he's tried -- will keep trying -- to strengthen himself: the one thing holding them back.
He doesn't know if it will do any good. But it will definitely help him survive until a way back is found or forced.]
It sounds like that's what I'd do if I dared hold back. [He's still not entirely sure of this, of course -- he doesn't like the idea of using the Blade Wing Worms, or any other iteration of his powers, against this girl. He'll cross that bridge when he gets there.] And you're not bothering me.
[Kariya's here as a representative of the Dan, after all, however strange that seems. He should at least be able deal with people he knows.]
no subject
[Judal grins at Kougyoku for a moment, as if to say "see, you're wrong".]
But she'll throw a fit if I make her stay, so we'll leave for now. I'll call you when I'm ready to start teaching you, got it? You'll learn quick, right?
[Judal, not everything works on your schedule, even if you think it should...]
no subject
no subject
[Just... smile and nod, Kariya.......]
See you some other time, Kougyoku.
[Manners! Let's do those.]
I hope you both enjoy the Dan.
