( open ) I seen the sun coming up at the funeral at dawn
Date & Time: Current
Location: Northern part of the city
Characters: Ygritte and open
Summary: Gathering supplies
Warnings: None?
She had said for awhile now she was heading North, but enough had happened to get in the way. Being in her own body again meant she could at least try and plan for the journey. She couldn't explain her need to do it other than it was the only piece of home she really had. It was the only thing that made her remotely happy.
These weren't her people, and while she liked a few, it was hard enough explaining her ways to them. Her ways were the old ways, the old gods. The ones not even here with no heart tree in sight. With it's metal buildings and it's modern technology. Ygritte didn't much like any of it.
So she found herself trading for dried meats. If she could get a horse it'd be even better. That's what she wanted before she made that kind of a journey, something to take her there and back again. She didn't much trust engines either.

"You do a lot of your own cooking, then?"
no subject
"I do, but this isn't for that." Most of it was cured and salted meat anyway, a few canned goods.

Cedric looked interested in what else she might find. "But that's a lot to carry, isn't it?"
no subject
"Not a lot seems good out there. I wonder if the animals are still poisoned." She was thinking out loud before she addressed his question. "I can carry enough on my back. Been through worse."
no subject
He looked over the burden again, impressed. "You've always been a traveler?"

It was Ygritte's hair that caught her eye as she passed through the market, the red stood out amongst the commoner shades, then as she looked closer the way the woman moved and talked. Rue stepped lightly closer, looking to browse the stall herself.
"... doesn't look very appetising." But then Rue had eaten poorer many a time, food was food.

"I've eaten worse," she commented nonchalantly. Above the Wall, she would be lucky if they had a meal at all.

But eventually, he does get there. “Are you preparin’ ta hibernate, or what?”
no subject
"Headin' out soon. Need t'make sure I come back," she told him offhand.
no subject
“Soon? Not gonna wait for whoever’s headed our way this month?”
no subject
"I'm lookin' t'head out after." Just in case Jon arrived. She told herself it was to look for any of her people, but she knew the truth in her heart.

"An' deprive me a' your company again? I'll be sad ta see you go."

Though, the unfamiliar sight of someone carrying quite a lot of food piqued him by a little bit.
"...Preparing for something?"
He found himself speaking before he knew it.
no subject
"Obviously." No one really carried a box of food and supplies around just for fun around the city.

His curiosity got the better of him this time as he asked, despite her obviously curt answer.
