Location: Bars, training room, police headquarters, assorted other locations of your choosing.
Characters: Roslyn Small (boughtabookstore) and YOU (aka OPEN)
Summary: Roslyn is out and doing, well, about the usual. But running into people at the same time. Whatever format you want, if one of the given options doesn't work for you feel free to come up with one that does.
Warnings: Most likely not any, will change if that changes.

one. bar hopping.

[ She's actually in bars a great deal less these days - more commitments, both to her job and to her friends (and isn't that a change from a year ago), but she's always found that people in bars can be excellent sources of information and she still does enjoy alcohol, though her drinking right now is a great deal more in moderation.

It's still fairly easy to find her in one of her favorite bars at night, talking to the natives or to friends or simply sitting in a corner by herself and watching. ]

two. respectable citizen (??).

[ During the weekdays during normal work hours most of her time is spent either at the station working on paperwork or out on the streets looking for things that will then give her more paperwork to do. She never was a beat cop of any sort, and though strictly speaking that isn't her designation she can't take inactivity while working enough to let her stay stationary. It's interesting. When she was an agent they never stayed long in one place on a case. Certainly not long enough to gain contacts or really get to know a place.

She has to say she likes it. It's good to have a purpose again, and it's interesting to be - for lack of a better word - engaged in the place she now lives in. ]

three. also about those missions.

[ She goes to the mandatory training sessions, but as well as that she tends to also show up at the training hall early in the mornings before work to put in a workout routine, make sure she's staying fit and prepared for anything. On the weekends she comes in for a slightly longer time, works on her target shooting and sometimes looks for someone to do hand to hand with.

The missions are unpredictable and frequently dangerous, and she'd like to ensure that she's always ready. ]

[ A slow grin. ]

Are you offering?

[ Her answering smile is small and a little secretive. ]

I am. I'm sure I could think of a few things.

[gevurah]

You like to spoil, don't you?

[ She looks toward the bar and eyes their menu briefly. ]

Buy you a drink?

[boughtabookstore]

On rare occasion. And I certainly won't say no to that.

[gevurah]

What's your poison?

[boughtabookstore]

I'm not terribly picky. Surprise me.

[gevurah]

[ She looks over at the bar and rises, holding up a finger signalling Ros to wait a minute as she disappears to get them drinks. ]

[ Roslyn settles back into her seat, and there may be a small smile tugging the corners of her mouth up, pleased. She hadn't expected to run into Kate tonight, but it's nice. ]

[gevurah]

[ She returns with bourbon, a happy glint in her eyes as she re-seats herself. ]

I didn't think they would have bourbon. Probably not Kentucky authentic.

[boughtabookstore]

[ Taking the glass with a smile of her own. ]

I suppose it could have been shipped from across the sea. Should Kentucky even still exist.

[gevurah]

[ She raises her glass in a half-assed sort of toast. ]

Do we even know how much of the world outside this place is left? What we knew, anyway.

[boughtabookstore]

Not particularly. Europe is not all that poorly off, but as for the rest of the world I'm not positive it's even in contact with anyone.

[gevurah]

There's no way countries can maintain themselves for too long without connections overseas. [ Not if the world had been like hers at one point. Resources, trading, business, etc... the economy would have crashed if suddenly they were cut off from everyone else. ]

[boughtabookstore]

Perhaps they've found ways to be self sufficient. Or were forced to, in the aftermath of everything. [ A little grim, though, and she falls silent as she thinks of a way to change the subject. ]

[gevurah]

[ She stares into her drink. The feeling of helplessness creeps up on her before she manages to shake it off. ]

I wonder if we could establish a connection overseas. Allies.

[boughtabookstore]

It would be good if we could find a way. Perhaps sometime we could talk about it with the Initiative, if there is anything to be allied with.

[ And then because yeah, too serious. ] Have you decided on a favorite bar yet?

[gevurah]

I wonder if they haven't tried yet. [ She nods after looking up from her drink.

A pause and she smirks. ] Not yet. I'm biased and liked Molly's best back home.

[boughtabookstore]

I think it's likely they have, if it's possible. [ Almost gently.

And that's better. She's not so good with being upset. ] What was Molly's like?

[gevurah]

Never ran out of energy. Even the occasional bar fight doesn't hamper anyone's spirits.

[boughtabookstore]

The best bars have a good fight now and then and roll with it.

[gevurah]

I think it's every lesbian's favourite back in Gotham. They'll keep coming unless it burns down.

[boughtabookstore]

Well then. [ Lifting her glass. ] To Molly's never burning down.

[gevurah]

[ She lifts hers almost immediately. ]

[ Taking a long swallow of her drink. ]

Are you - content, here?

[gevurah]

[ Kate is still taking a swallow of hers when Roslyn poses the question. She pauses, swallows again, and slowly sets down the glass.

Loaded question. ]

How many of us are really? [ She had a lot of things back home. She had lost a lot, but she wouldn't trade it away for this. ]
