north by north lest we have to settle down

Date & Time: March 25th through April 1st.
Location: Bars, training room, police headquarters, assorted other locations of your choosing.
Characters: Roslyn Small (boughtabookstore) and YOU (aka OPEN)
Summary: Roslyn is out and doing, well, about the usual. But running into people at the same time. Whatever format you want, if one of the given options doesn't work for you feel free to come up with one that does.
Warnings: Most likely not any, will change if that changes.

one. bar hopping.

[ She's actually in bars a great deal less these days - more commitments, both to her job and to her friends (and isn't that a change from a year ago), but she's always found that people in bars can be excellent sources of information and she still does enjoy alcohol, though her drinking right now is a great deal more in moderation.

It's still fairly easy to find her in one of her favorite bars at night, talking to the natives or to friends or simply sitting in a corner by herself and watching. ]

two. respectable citizen (??).

[ During the weekdays during normal work hours most of her time is spent either at the station working on paperwork or out on the streets looking for things that will then give her more paperwork to do. She never was a beat cop of any sort, and though strictly speaking that isn't her designation she can't take inactivity while working enough to let her stay stationary. It's interesting. When she was an agent they never stayed long in one place on a case. Certainly not long enough to gain contacts or really get to know a place.

She has to say she likes it. It's good to have a purpose again, and it's interesting to be - for lack of a better word - engaged in the place she now lives in. ]

three. also about those missions.

[ She goes to the mandatory training sessions, but as well as that she tends to also show up at the training hall early in the mornings before work to put in a workout routine, make sure she's staying fit and prepared for anything. On the weekends she comes in for a slightly longer time, works on her target shooting and sometimes looks for someone to do hand to hand with.

The missions are unpredictable and frequently dangerous, and she'd like to ensure that she's always ready. ]

[ A patient nod as she takes a step back in the general direction of the practice mats. ]

Yes. The more variety in partners, the better.

[phaseshifts]

[Looking her up and down.]

You look delicate, though... I wouldn't want to hurt you by mistake. [Actual words that actually just came out of his mouth. Go take a women's studies class, Tyki.] Are you sure?

[boughtabookstore]

[ ... What. ]

I assure you, I am more than capable of ensuring you do not hurt me by mistake.

[phaseshifts]

Have you done a lot of fighting? [Affable, but with a vague air of condescension.]

[boughtabookstore]

[ A flat, blank expression, and then she nods a little. ]

Some. You game, or are you to afraid to hit a lady? [ Almost without inflection. ]

[phaseshifts]

[That did the trick. Good thinking, Roslyn. He comes closer at that, glancing her up and down.]

Not afraid. You're sure, are you?

More than.

[ Actually, she's rather hoping she'll be able to kick his ass. At the very least she should be able to hold her own. ]

Ready?

[phaseshifts]

[As kicking might not be impossible, unfortunately, unless Ros is hiding some magical tricks up her sleeve.

On the other hand, Tyki will be mildly surprised if she can hold her own, so... maybethat helps?]

[ No magical tricks, alas, but she'll settle for making him regret having looked at her that condescendingly.

A slight raise of one eyebrow, and then she throws a punch, fast and as untelegraphed as she can make it. She'll choose not to reply to that. ]

[phaseshifts]

[Unfortunately, he has the power levels to back his arrogance up - enhanced speed, enhanced strength, enhanced durability beyond what a human would have. He won't fight so dirty she can't touch him this round, but he does duck most of that, eyebrows lifting as she clips him. She got him! He's impressed.

His arrogance is astronomical, of course. A second later and he's lunging towards her with brutal speed, snatching at her arm to catch it and twist it back towards her.]

[ Jesus, he is fast. She presses her mouth together, twists to give herself the momentum to kick for his shin with the heel of her boot, free elbow going for his gut.

She promised to keep him from hurting her. She prefers not to break promises. ]

[phaseshifts]

[He takes the shin kick with a grunt, huffs an exhale on the gut strike, expression visibly miffed. He doesn't like to get hit! But he can take it, raising his own foot to direct a swift heel-stomp at her forward foot, snatching casually at her hair to see if he can get a grip and pull her out of flight. Tyki learned to fight dirty.]

[ He can be as miffed as he likes, she's pleased with those. There's a grunt of her own at his heel on her foot, having to snatch it away disrupting her balance and leaving her wide open to his grab of her ponytail. Dirty, yeah, but she can roll with that, and her answer is to grab the hand that's on her hair to keep it there as she ducks and twists in an attempt to twist his arm. ]
