Time to Play Bingo [Closed]
Date & Time: April 4th, afternoon
Location: Around the market!
Characters: Jade, Kido, Kano
Summary: Jade is a bad person
Warnings: See above
[All things considered, their lives here at Exsilium have been very peaceful. So maybe it was inevitable that something would come and ruin that peace. Kido herself can't be too worried yet until she finds out what she needs but she is definitely guarded.
...Guarded because of what Kano said but also from how worried Kano was about this. She hopes things won't be too troublesome. As long as Kano behaves it'll be fine. Probably.
She spots Jade finally and waves at him.]
Oi, Jade! We need to talk!

Oi, Jade! We need to talk!

[That sounds like atoms. She remembers those. So it's that quantum stuff basically, right? That's not hard (kinda). It makes vague enough sense if she doesn't think too deeply on it. Actually she's more interested in what he said.]
But, hm. Science is never good or bad...? I guess so but...
[She frowns.] Part of science usually means testing it on someone at some point, right? Isn't that pretty inevitable?

[As if changing the topic, he nods to the wires around her neck.]
May I ask what those are?

[She reaches up and tugs her earbuds out. Taking her iPod out of her pocket, she holds them out for him.] This is an iPod. You can listen to music on it. It stores a ton and you can control the volume, too. I always have it with me. The music goes right in your ears, so it doesn't bother anyone else.
Ah, but I didn't have it on when we were talking. [She gets the feeling Jade would do some passive-aggressive lecture at her if she did.]

Yep! They're related to apples, actually. They grow all over the place, just like flowers~!

[She feels like Jade needs to appreciate how stupid that joke was and turns the iPod over to show the logo.] It's the company that makes them. See? It's an apple. But they're not from a farm or something. That's just dumb...

I see. What an awful joke. [no it was hilarious]
But in that case, these are products of scientific research. If your world is anything like mine, the technology involved came about through research development aimed both towards positive and negative ends. Some parts of it likely developed through military research on communication. Other parts may have come from civilian research for profit. Amateur research for the simple purpose of gaining knowledge or enjoying music may have filled in other parts of the scientific background necessary to produce this technology.

poutssulksthinks about it for a moment before sighing.]"You guys act like science is evil when you're using it anyway." That's what I heard.

[He continues,] Any responsible government would have required that such a device be tested, first on animals and then on human subjects, before being produced on a mass scale and released to the general public.
no subject
[She looks down at it.] I guess maybe... they would test the earbuds to make sure they're comfortable... and the volume levels... but that's about it! They wouldn't have to hurt anyone!
no subject
... testing earbuds on animals... so... earbuds on... monkeys?
[A beat.
STIFLED LAUGHTER FROM THE PEANUT GALLERY]

not out loud anyway]

A kitty wearing...?
[Despite the pain he's starts to laugh harder. Tears are happening.]
Hahahaha! No, no, that's impossible--hehe! Cats can't wear-- pfftahaha!
no subject
[She kicks him in the stomach. Look, they're from Malkuth.]
no subject
[And for the second time today, Kano is down, ladies and gentlemen, repeat Kano is down.]
no subject
...Anyway. It's not like that's how they would really do it.
no subject
I'm not certain what would be involved in the testing of those particular products. But if there is the possibility of something causing harm to human beings, then it would be irresponsible to release it to the general public without controlled testing first. Consider that in ethically conducted human trials, a small number of informed, consenting subjects are exposing themselves to a risk. Without those trials, a large number of uninformed individuals would be exposed to a risk of which they are unaware—by far, a greater ethical crime.

no subject
Well... as long as they keep the tests to people who want to be tested on, I don't have a problem with whatever science does.
no subject
Oh? I assumed that you and Kido would have similar views on scientific experimentation.
no subject
Ah, we're friends, we're friends, but that doesn't mean we're exactly the same. Right?
no subject
no subject
Yep! Just a little.
no subject
...Some, I guess.
