MISSION: RELEASE THEM BACK INTO THE WILD

Date & Time: April 27th - May 1st
Location: Wollongong, Australia, 2464.
Characters: All voluntary transports + maybe a few drafted ones.
Summary: Make those stay-at-homes leave their nerdcaves! My god, do they even know what sunshine looks like???
Warnings: none planned, will be updated accordingly!

The city is old, dark, and very, very quiet. A good deal of the buildings are crumbling and old, but the ones that are actually inhabited glow like candles in the dusk the Transporter has dropped you into. All of these buildings are infested by wiring pouring in from every angle, ensuring that each inhabitant in his or her little block of a room has every modern convenience available in 2464.

There is no one on the streets, no public transportation, and even cars look scarce. But that doesn't mean there's no movement. Maintenance drones, controlled remotely, run deliveries or work repairs. Armed law enforcement drones patrol on rounds through the city, although their mechanized attention is mostly turned outward. Still, they might come to investigate a ruckus within the city limits. And if the persons causing the ruckus don't respond to peaceful attempts to get them to cease, the drones might attempt to subdue them with paralyzing technology and haul them in for a night in the city jail — another dark, unused place.

If you get hungry, there are entire warehouses dedicated to the production of foods. It can't be that hard to sneak in and collect a meal, right? Or you can hack into the system and order whatever you want, if you're good with that kind of thing. Or you can just scavenge—or fast for four days, maybe—if thieving and hacking aren't your style.

And somewhere around here, in those glowing, secluded towers, behind the legions of automated drones, live the reclusive citizens of Wollongong. The methods are up to you, as long as you can get them to come out and breathe the fresh air somehow.

_{( Remy has spent his days and nights looking around, picking up small souvenirs and only really carrying out the mission when it suits him. At the moment, he looks to be tightrope-walking along a phone wire. He pauses, in the middle of its length, when he spots her. )}

'Allo. Havin' fun?

[Maria is slightly alarmed when the voice comes out of apparently nowhere, though she doesn't let it show on her face. When she looks up and spots a familiar face, she's just annoyed that she wasn't aware enough to know he was there.]

I've had worse times, but I can't say this is my idea of leisure.

_{( When she faces him, Remy offers her a wave, still managing to keep his balance. )}

Well, it's not quite war, either. Maybe we should think ourselves lucky.

But, then again--d'you want leisure, or excitement?

[It's actually fairly impressive that he doesn't even wobble, although she avoids letting that show on her face, either.]

Once I wanted glory. Now, I'd settle for knowing we're having some effect, as long as we're here.

You could always announce y'self. "Hello, people a' Australia, I'm the one who cut your power."

Mmm, I think there are better ways to break up the boredom.

[She considers applauding lightly, but instead just nods in acknowledgment of his skill.]

Do you have a good view from up there?

_{( He puts a hand over his eyes and pretends to see as far as he can. )}

Oui--the best in this place, I'd bet.

And what do you see? Anything useful to our appointed task?

Jus' more a' the same, really. Figures this would be kinda borin'.

I've been told some of the missions we're sent on are more interesting.

[She pauses to consider.]

Which may or may not be a good thing for us.

[solitaire]

I'd take a little danger, if it meant we had more ta do.

[givetheslip]

If I'm being completely honest, I can't say I'd choose differently.

[solitaire]

I knew I was fond a' you for a reason.

[givetheslip]

[She laughs at that.]

You're different from a lot of men I've known, then.

[solitaire]

You must not've known many good ones, then.

[givetheslip]

Maybe just a few. I always believed myself to be the unusual one, though. A woman, fighting—many would consider it a great sin.

I think the presence of so many of us summoned here surprised me almost as much as being dragged through time,

Then I know a lot a' lady sinners.

...really? The crowd's what got you?

[givetheslip]

Not the crowd itself, the number of women in it. I had to disguise myself as a man to join a war in my time. It was a lot harder than coming here.

[solitaire]

Who knows? Maybe y'started a trend.

But remind me ta introduce you if any of the ladies I know from home happen ta show up.

[givetheslip]

I very much doubt it. But it's a nice idea.

[She laughs] If you get the chance, I'm sure I'd enjoy meeting them.

[solitaire]

_{( He half-bows, still keeping balance. )}

It's a promise, then. Conditional, but a promise.

I'll hold you to it.

[solitaire]

Feel free ta hold me all you like.

[givetheslip]

[That gets a small roll of the eyes, but she's still smiling.]
