MISSION: RELEASE THEM BACK INTO THE WILD

Location: Wollongong, Australia, 2464.
Characters: All voluntary transports + maybe a few drafted ones.
Summary: Make those stay-at-homes leave their nerdcaves! My god, do they even know what sunshine looks like???

The city is old, dark, and very, very quiet. A good deal of the buildings are crumbling and old, but the ones that are actually inhabited glow like candles in the dusk the Transporter has dropped you into. All of these buildings are infested by wiring pouring in from every angle, ensuring that each inhabitant in his or her little block of a room has every modern convenience available in 2464.

There is no one on the streets, no public transportation, and even cars look scarce. But that doesn't mean there's no movement. Maintenance drones, controlled remotely, run deliveries or work repairs. Armed law enforcement drones patrol on rounds through the city, although their mechanized attention is mostly turned outward. Still, they might come to investigate a ruckus within the city limits. And if the persons causing the ruckus don't respond to peaceful attempts to get them to cease, the drones might attempt to subdue them with paralyzing technology and haul them in for a night in the city jail — another dark, unused place.

If you get hungry, there are entire warehouses dedicated to the production of foods. It can't be that hard to sneak in and collect a meal, right? Or you can hack into the system and order whatever you want, if you're good with that kind of thing. Or you can just scavenge—or fast for four days, maybe—if thieving and hacking aren't your style.

And somewhere around here, in those glowing, secluded towers, behind the legions of automated drones, live the reclusive citizens of Wollongong. The methods are up to you, as long as you can get them to come out and breathe the fresh air somehow.

[ Feferi is just not the most technological of people, but she's still going to make a good effort to try and cause some non-harmful disruptions about the city. That means a lot of hemming and hawwing as she carefully pokes various wires with a stick. With good timing, someone might witness her backup up a safe distance from the buildings and chucking a gold double-ended trident at the thickest clusters. It's not very graceful, but it gets the job done enough.

The hard part comes afterwards. With her trident speared into the side of the building, and consequently an electrical wire or two, a new question arises: how to get it out. It is, after all, made of highly conductive solid gold.

She didn't think that one through very well. ]

[ Thought she's amenable to causing a little bit of mayhem for the sake of the misson, Feferi can't spend all her time destroying things, not when there's a beach nearby: a clean beach! Or at least, clean compared to the beaches back in the time they've come from. The water doesn't burn her gills as bad, and the critters aren't quite so mutated. All by her lonesome, she comes down to the beach just to swim, and to frolic in the surf, and to sit in the sand as the tide comes in and starts to wash over her legs, looking out over the ocean. For being on a mission, she's still perky, and when she looks out across the sea, she seems contemplative, but still wears a pleasant smile, lost deep in thought. ]

[Cissa, on the other hand, is the most technological of people. She's been performing acts of sabotage big and small over the course of this mission, and it's on her way back from one of these that she sees the trident toss.

[Hm. Yes, that could present a logistical problem.] Is that weapon comprised of what it appears to be comprised of?

[ Causing chaos is essentially the opposite of what Roslyn generally intends to do. She prefers to bring order rather than destruction. It is simply a matter of personality.

She's heard explosions can be good for you, but she's always preferred punching someone in the face in a good barfight for that particular form of release.

She can be found through the mission mostly doing her best to coordinate places to stay for everyone and any supplies that are being stockpiled, leaving the actual problem causing to others most of the time. She'll stick to her strengths, thank you, unless someone manages to persuade her into doing something. ]

[Forget the mission. Maya's only interested in one thing - the food. She'll be charging right into any place she can, bravely ignoring the filth, armed only with a staunch heart, an empty stomach, and a backpack.]

[Her mission? Find, devour, and collect as many burgers as possible.]

[Well, other food too. But mostly burgers.]

[Phoenix is following her around with his own bag, although he's collecting the more preservable and healthier foods like wraps and packaged drinks, rather than burgers. But he'll let her make a beeline for them anyway because he's not going to say no to a Maya being fed without hurting his wallet. He can't help but laugh at her excitement though.]

[ She's good at making things break.

She likes to think she's equally good at putting things back together, but over years of a very long fight she's developed a certain talent for what the people dedicated to catching her (again) like to call domestic terrorism and she - prefers not to term, because it's easier like that. Less self doubt.

But that's not really the point. The point is that most days of the mission she can be found bent over some act of sabotage, generally by herself though occasionally she falls in with groups, stripped down to shorts and a tanktop and her hair pulled back as she works over wires or leads patrol drones off their paths in a reckless bid to get herself into position to destroy them. Whatever she can think of to disrupt their society, she does, and it seems like she came fairly well prepared in terms of both tools and weapons.

She could go work on people with her empathy, but this - this is definitely more fun. ]

[Ooooh, look at it all! They even have Golems! Obviously nowhere near the quality that she can build, but at least they have them. So much technology, so little time.

[And people had allowed the technology to make them sedentary. That's so incredibly unfortunate. Good technology should make someone bounce in excitement, not sit and stare at a screen. They've imprisoned themselves, these poor deluded humans, and she's more than happy to set them free.

[At any point during the mission, Cissa can be found tampering with some device or another, hacking into various systems, or building something of her own. Whether the something she's building has anything to do with the mission or not . . . Well, maybe. But sometimes ideas just strike her.]

[Well at least her cruiser won't turn too many heads in a place like this. Tamora had never been to Australia before, even in her programmed backstory, but this certainly doesn't really resemble the place she'd been expecting. Isn't Australia supposed to be all rainforests and beaches and tanned blokes with surfboards or something? This looks a bit more like something out of... well, her home game, maybe.

[But the mission, yes. Somehow it's a bit ironic to her that as a video game character herself she's striving to get people to go play outside. As she rounds a corner on the cruiser she spots what appears to be a very small child down a sidestreet, tinkering with a ramshackle conglomeration of... stuff. Pausing a moment, she hops down off the cruiser and slings it over her shoulder, a bit concerned that someone may have lost their kid. As she draws closer, however, she sees that this isn't just some wayward human child. She's never seen anyone that looks quite like this diminutive figure here, and peers down at them a moment, her eyebrows raised. She's not quite sure what this little person is building, but it looks interesting.]

[One of Kido's several goals upon learning they're now in the land of shut-ins is to find all their stuff and take some back. Even in this era, of course people want to still have 'collector's editions' of things. Which includes music.

She followed a drone to what she assumes is some sort of entertainment warehouse. She has her hood down and iPod on full blast - even humming along - for this one as she tries to find a suitable pipe or something to bust in.

Hey, if she destroys all the drones coming in and out, that'll count for something too, right?]

[On the outskirts of the city, since who doesn't like exploring, Kido sits for a break. Her messenger bag sits by her feet and she's just eating some chips. No big.

Except her food seems to have attracted a curious koala. They're not supposed to hurt animals and like hell she would anyone but it's become a staring contest. Is it okay to give koalas chips? Someone should answer this.]

She keeps her distance from the enforcement drones, making sure they round the corner or pass by before she continues on her way. She finds it easier to use her sentient weapon and glide along the streets as if she is on an ice rink — less noise made by her footsteps, especially if she comes across a puddle or some rubble.

She pushes her hood down as she lets out a soft huff. She so needed a light source at some point, and sooner rather than later. Her thought train stops abruptly as she hears the hum of a drone, moving around a corner to see which way it's coming f—

Did she just see green hair? ]

Billy is just as good at taking out tech as he is at setting it up. He can usually be found with a laptop and a toolkit in tow, smiling with satisfaction when he hears a disturbed noise from the residences. Progress!

He snacks on his shamefully hacked food as he goes, moving every now and then to avoid too much suspicion.

[B-Open, a few days in]

A few days into the mission, Billy has a problem: all this time working outside in warm weather and sun for the first time in a while has given him a familiar condition known as sunburn, with a painfully red face, neck, and arms. Do they even manufacture sunscreen or aloe anymore? Who would need it in this world?

This leaves him to waddle around with as much skin as possible covered in light cloth, but the heat makes this prospect very uncomfortable. He's desperately sweating it out.

[Despite his initial focus at the beginning on the mission, during which he snips a lot of wires and pushes down a couple of computers for the fun of it, he soon finds that his attention is waning by the third day. Besides, there's dozens of Transports. They can handle most of the destruction, right?

So during the latter half of the week he spends most of his time looting, determined to figure out just how much stuff they'd be allowed to take back on their person. He can be found sneaking in and out of the buildings, almost every inch of him crammed with all sorts of stuff--food, various other doodads he mysteriously picked up from around, searching for more stuff to steal. You might also find him lounging around, arranging his pickings, occasionally throwing out something he doesn't like.

He eats most of the food. It's like a miniature loot picnic.]

[Near the end of the week he spends more time outside. It's been so long since he's enjoyed the sun--he complained endlessly about the heat back home, but for the past few months he'd been complaining about the chill in Exsilium. He doesn't want to spend the last few days underground.

Knowing that they'll head back soon, he takes the time to soak up some rays, even though he sweats like a pig in his hoodie. He has to duck the attention of some drones when he nears the outskirts, but aside from that it isn't too difficult to wander off. He might be found in napping in random areas around the city or loitering around the borders, a thoughtful expression on his face.]

Kaede has also had the same sort of mindset — she can get a souvenir — or two...or three...or a whole backpack's worth... — while destroying stuff, and that is exactly what she has done.

She is munching on the last bit of a sandwich as she glides through the streets and spots a familiar hoodie. She dusts off her hands as she closes the distance between them. ]

[Maria has little interest in getting right to the objective of this mission. She may contribute, a little later, but first she wants to explode, get the lay of the land.

So far this city is quite different from the place she's been living for the past few weeks, and even more different from the place she was unceremoniously yanked from. But she's less disoriented now, and more willing to make her own plans.

Carefully, she begins walking the streets, learning her way around and keeping an eye out for anything that might be useful.]

( Option B )

[Disruption and destruction are the key terms on this mission. It reminds Maria a little of the rebellion in Cyprus, but she's sure they never dealt with anything like this place. And neither has she. By now she's noticed the work of a few of her fellow transports, but she'd prefer to avoid attention herself. It would be easier to accomplish anything if she understood more about how any of the things here work, but just like Exsilium, it's all a little beyond her.

But the wires look like a good place to start. They seem to connect every building that isn't desolate and empty. Maria removes her knife from its sheath and starts looking for the nearest clump.]

_{( Remy has spent his days and nights looking around, picking up small souvenirs and only really carrying out the mission when it suits him. At the moment, he looks to be tightrope-walking along a phone wire. He pauses, in the middle of its length, when he spots her. )}

[During a mandatory mission, Sam wants nothing more than to hang back. Those mission seem - and feel - like a cover up to him. They make no sense otherwise; sending people against their will is begging for mission interference, and he's yet to see a mission that really required such masses. A small skilled team seemed like a better option, every time.

But this is a volunteer mission. That tells him two things - one, there's probably nothing worth finding back at Exsilium. Two - this may actually have some sort of effect. Both out of curiosity and a need to do something with himself before he goes mad - he signs up.

He used to imagine traveling the world, seeing places like Australia. This? Seems more like a bad sci-fi flick. He ducks down an alley to avoid a drone, and just takes in the sight in front of him. Oh, what he could do with a sight like this in college.]

[ Buffy was all too excited to go on her first mission. Or, not really excited, so much as determined. She decided she needed to see what this was all about, all this scampering around military junk. She doesn't really like it much, but she figures she might as well get used to it and see what they're up against. She takes her weapon, too, just for good measure and security. A sort of insurance, really.

However, the surroundings... Definitely catch her off guard. She's not expecting them to be so intensely Trek levels of advanced, with the drones, nor is she expecting them to be the only signs of life. Everything looks dead. Post-Apocalypse dead.

It's down such an alley that Sam will bump into Buffy, who had the same idea just a block over, to duck away from the drone before it can duck into her. She walks slowly, and backwards, so when they collide she spins rapidly and holds her weapon up, on the defensive and ready for a fight. ]

[Warehouses, night - OPEN TO ANYONE AND EVERYONE COME ON YOU KNOW YOU WANNA PARTY]

[What started with a single campfire back between the food warehouses has gotten kind of out of hand. The campfire is now more properly described as a bonfire, with wooden food crates stacked around it to sit on and talk or cook. A lot of food's been brought out of the nearby warehouses, too; most of it is just fruit and meat that someone has stabbed onto skewers and held over the fire, but there's plenty for everyone.

More than that, though, it seems that one of the other Transports has somehow found an inflatable swimming pool, which is set up just at the edge of the fire light. There's even something of a changing stall, for those who brought proper swimsuits, although it's really just a tarp thrown over a bunch of crates stacked for privacy. Someone else brought music, and the place has turned into a real party for any Transports who show up after a long day wrecking the city.

Hopefully, those police drones won't come by and crash it any time soon...]

[Kido can be found one of two places for the night: either trying to cook anything on a skewer that she can - snack foods, bread, marshmallows, anything - because damn if it isn't a good day without some good food...

...or a little ways away from the fire just enjoying how nice it is out here. It feels nice to just lie back and look up at the sky. She missed skies like this. And luckily some of those towers have dimmed enough to let stars poke through.]

[ This mission is very absurd, and Aurican gets the impression that the inhabitants here are not much worth saving. But still, he volunteered for it, might as well do his best and think about the tasty chicken back on Exsillium.

Which still requires him to figure out what to do. He can't cause too much a disruption and accidentally kill someone, but he still has to make someone to come out of the buildings.

The best idea he can think of is knocking over the foul-smelling garbage cans, sometimes even dragging them out on the street. (He pretty soon lost his sense of taste after the fourth can.) Every once in a while, he sets the scattered pieces of garbage on fire, burning safely in the streets. As soon as he does so, he quickly uses his device to use the guise of a young blond boy, scampering away as he does so. ]

B

[ Aurican is feeling peckish at the end of a day of sabotage.

He sees one of the warehouses and knows there is food in there somewhere. But he sits down on a sidewalk, looking at the warehouse as a young boy, pondering, thinking, on the merits of actually stealing food.

After some convincing, either by other people or by himself, he gets up to the warehouses and approaches the lock. He took several swipes at it, little boy fingers leaving behind impressive scratches on the metal doors. ]

[ Feferi had something of the same idea, to go looking for food at some point. They won't miss too much of it, will they? And maybe a little bit of a food shortage will get people to come out of their homes to search out food from other places!

Looks like someone has beaten her to the punch, though. Maybe? She can't be sure... ]

[While messing about with electronics has never been Charlie's strong suit, pulling them apart isn't terribly difficult with a little leverage and enough brute strength.

Over the course of the mission, Charlie can be found dismantling wiring hubs and destroying police drones. The heat of the weather doesn't suit him much despite the fact that he's stripped down to a t-shirt and jeans. He finds himself getting winded more easily than he ought to.

Option A:

Shelke could be found sitting on a bench outside of one of the larger apartment complexes, with a portable computer she had 'liberated' from what had looked like a dispatch center for mailing packages. It had taken her a couple hours to really get the hang of the device, but once she had her fingers were a blur over the controls as she began bypassing the security on it, even while her gaze was tilted upwards, away from the machine, staring at...nothing? Everything here was wireless, she didn't even need an interface terminal to access their network with her mind. She could practically swim in it!

But the computer was a useful focal point to filter the information she was sorting through as she hunted for the control system of the building she was sitting in front of, looking for various systems to disable and destroy that would drive the residents out.

Option B:

Some systems, of course, required a more direct touch, which was a tad more dangerous that just hacking a system through a stolen laptop. Luckily, between her weapons and her stealth abilities, it wasn't that big a leap for her to be able to sneak into some of the more important buildings, looking for systems to disable...either through their software, or with a bit of old fashion physical manipulation.

IE: Stabbing them with her EM Sabers.

But for those trips, some backup and protection would probably be in order...

[OPTION A: PLAYING NICE]

[Luke is one of those strange people who doesn't go right for destroying shit. So, for the first couple of hours, he's wandering the streets and knocking on doors. It should be no surprise that no one answers. His frustration is quickly mounting.]

What is wrong with these people?! Who doesn't open a door when someone's standing there?

[OPTION B: BREAK STUFF]

[Later, Luke has given up on being an upstanding citizen. The only way to make an omelet is to break a few eggs. With that in mind, he's carefully avoiding any robotic drone things and he's not doing anything that will actually hurt someone. It's just-- well. It's therapeutic.

What is it he's doing?

Taking a large, sharp sword to delicate electronics.

[Keith happens to be walking by when Luke shouts in anger towards the nonexistent residents. His answer is simple and calm.]

Perhaps whoever was inside already left for good. You shouldn't be getting yourself worked up over this.

Option A:

Rose wasn't subtle when it came to destroying things. Physical things. Destroying a person, their opinion, their feelings, carefully tearing them down, she could be so subtle then...

But buildings? Not so much. And the wands, the Thorns of Oglogoth, didn't let themselves to subtle anyway. The dark magic wrapped around her frame whenever she used them, and the wands themselves glowed with an eerie purple light even when she was simply holding them.

At the moment, she was picking off security drones one at a time as they came to investigate all the other security drones that she had already destroyed. Each time they came into view, a bolt of purple lightning lashed out from her wrist and cut through them, sending them clattering to the ground in useless, sparking heaps.

She had a pretty big heap of them at this point. It was beginning to encroach on 'mound' territory.

Option B:

Buildings were a bit more of a challenge though, because you needed to destroy them without causing them to reduce the rest of the city around them to a smoldering heap as well. Power systems were a key way to drive people into the streets, but shoot the wrong breaker and you'd be left with a smoldering crater instead of a disabled building.

So her target, one of the power plants, was requiring finesse. She was floating a few feet off the ground, wrapped in purple light as she twirled one of the Thorns between her fingers, perhaps twenty yards from the building. Which bit to destroy...

Option C:

Of course, it couldn't all be violence! As far as societies went, this one was rather impressive in a sad, pathetic, lonely sort of way. Part of her couldn't help but feel sorry for these people, living their entire lives trapped in prisons of their own making.

So she was spying on them, trying to figure out ways to get them out of their rooms voluntarily. Just moving from window to window, typically near the ground floor of buildings, peeking out from the corners to keep out of sight.

There had to be something these people wanted more than just sitting at home, right?

[Tyki has been punching his way through droids and buildings with equal panache. It's a little dull to wreak havoc on buildings and robots instead of people - there's not nearly enough squirming and shrieking to suit his sadistic tastes - but it is satisfying to rip something up at last. Enough to make due for now.

When he comes across Rose sniping robots with beams of purple energy, at least ripping her to pieces isn't the first thing on his mind? He does look debonair, at very least, and strange with black inverted crosses burned across his forehead. This little girl shredding the city piques his curiosity, not so much his bloodlust. He approaches her from one of innumerable deserted alleys, hands in fists swinging by his sides, relaxed. It seems he's laughing, amused by the display of destruction, perhaps. He stands at a respectful distance from Rose with his head cocked, observing her baldly.]

[This was fun. Sho may not have his gang or his weapons or even a definite target, but he knew how to rip apart a well-oiled machine, and he knew how to do it so it stayed unfixed. If that meant he would have to use some of his vampire strength and speed to avoid getting hit by the drones, then so be it.

Sho could be found breaking into supply buildings, his arms full of explosives that were easily made in any household sink, cheerfully whistling to himself as he set them up, and then practice his aiming at said explosives. More than one building went up with a huge bang, and more often than not, a smiling Japanese guy comes flying out of an upper story window, landing easily on the ground below and dust off his long trench. If he has an audience, he poses after the landing, maybe lighting up or maybe just grinning like he just had the most exciting thing ever happen to him.

And if there are drones around, he was going to get more target practice in.]

Sure, destroying the infrastructure was important, but after that, you needed to give these people an alternative to just sitting around at home. While most people went around Wollongong causing chaos, Barney Calhoun spent almost the whole of the mission setting up something huge and elaborate, along with recruiting help to set up and to hold of nosy security drones.

As the sun set on the last day, Barney sat down at some kind of control panel and, not even trying to hide the enormous grin of a boy about to do a mammoth practical joke, put on a pair of sunglasses.

"Showtime."

Turns out, most of what he'd been working on was setting up fireworks. Hundreds of them. Brilliantly colored flowers of light, shimmering streamers of stars, rings, fireballs, and others filled the sky above the old park he had been working in. After a few minutes, he judged that he probably had attracted enough attention, and so that was when the music cut in.

[...Well, that's something he hasn't seen before. Emil follows the light show and the music to its source, and pretty soon he comes upon the park.]

[ Ho boy, another mission, and this time without inconvenient side effects (so far).

He loves those really vaguely phrased mission objectives, too. 'Get them to leave their houses'. Would be nice to know what that's supposed to accomplish, by the way, but hey, don't question the Initiative. After all, they know what they're doing. Totally.

Anyway, Adam's gonna be doing what he does best: sneak around and hack into abandoned computers and terminals to shut down drones and read confidential emails discussing the events of last night's episode of 'CSI Melbourne 2460' and whatnot. Very interesting stuff. So are the snacks and other junk food he disposes of on his way.

... And plug some cables while he's at it. Sometimes, it really is that simple. ]

[ So when he's not doing his hackity hack hack thing, Adam can sometimes be found at a makeshift camp at the coast. Probably with one of those disabled drones and a bunch of other stuff like food, allowing himself to unwind a little by taking apart the robot, staring at the sea while he does so. Feels a little bit nostalgic, and for the first time since months, he might just feel a tiny bit homesick.

Whatever. Ripping out the innards of this police drone is pretty interesting, too -- maybe he can even take some parts of it back home.

And use them for his cleaner bot. ]

[McCoy didn't realize the mission wasn't mandatory until he was in the middle of it, so he's now set up at camp, sitting under a canopy on the beach with his legs stretched out. If all missions were like this, he could get used to them.

Of course, he's not stupid, so he knows this is just a fluke. When he hears Adam taking the drone apart, he cracks open an eye and sits up.]

Can you tell what kind of weapons it uses? It'd be nice to know what injuries to expect from the damn things.

[Zelos was never super fond of doing missions, but he had been so bored that he didn't complain that much at being forced to go to a sunny place to destroy stuff. Seriously, that's practically a vacation!]

[The question is how. He wasn't a technological expert, but it didn't take him too much wandering around to figure out the existence of the power generators on the side of buildings that had warnings of electricity. This must be where people get their power right? He remembers that was the problem with the black out the other day. Surely these guys would go outside to check what's up if their power went out, right?]

[And so you might encounter the "mercenary" on the side of buildings, either throwing lightning or earth magic at the boxes to get them destroyed. ]

[B: Relaxing time & Sunburn healing]

[Of course he's not going to spend his entire time doing the mission. Not when he's free of rain and dreariness for the first time in months! [Let's play a game, Exsilium. It's called 'fulfill a mission in the most irresponsible way possible'.]

[It's at about this date that cherry blossoms open in Japan. Kenjirou vividly remembers discussing a visit to them with his students. Even if they made up for it in their own way, they never could assist, due to their special circumstances. Why have the opportunity taken away again?]

[Kenjirou has developed a particularly showy computer virus. Not elaborate, perhaps, but certainly notable once it appears. Logic dictates that subtlety works best in this kind of cases, but logic never gave you a blaring alarm coming from most towers in the city. Kenjirou has taken a character model he made for a video game based on one of his students and essentially made it a fake AI (which is to say that, much like an NPC, it repeats responses, not always in the most logical manner). Apart from being a general annoyance, files are automatically deleted, important information is spread all around the net, and the aforementioned sound systems are set at whatever maximum volume they can achieve.]

[Meanwhile, Kenjirou's just sitting at a nearby hill, making a drinking game out of all the times booms blare around the city. Even if it doesn't look like one, not everyone can appreciate a spring afternoon. They can consider it a favor.]

Causing destruction was a new thing for Keith. Normally he would be expected to cause the least amount of damage possible while at work. After all somebody has to be paying for all of this. But he reasoned with himself this was just like doing renovations. So he went about his business methodically, destroying each house one by one and leaving a little cute apology note by the mailbox or next to the pile of rubble. Anybody is welcomed to stop by when he's putting notes on the ground or get in the middle of him causing destruction via launching hurricane force winds in small packages carefully at houses.

Around evening, before the sun would set, Keith needs to go get a bite to eat. But he wasn't going to steal food, that was just wrong. So instead he tried to barter his way with the warehouse workers, asking for food in exchange for money from Exsilium.

Sometime later, he'll be sitting on a roof by himself just snacking on hamburgers and hotdogs. It's not the best food he's ever had, but it was food. And he would be more than willing to share with anybody who joins him for a late dinner.

[A number of drones, all poised to intercept Transports who had been spotted at some point came down the street, looking to apprehend them. Coby, knowing that robots could always be rebuilt, didn't feel any guilt in his approach. As a few rounded the corner close to a street Keith recently passed, Coby came out from the sky itself and swung his arms in an arc, cutting the wind with his fingertips and splitting the drones into pieces.

Their motors burst, sending up fiery sheets as they collapsed on the ground and Coby jumped, looking to escape immediate sight.]

What a troublesome mission. At the very least, I hope this improves their standard of living a little.

[Technology is not at all Emil's forte, and despite that the mission objective gives everyone free reign he would rather avoid excessive damage himself - he's still uncomfortable with the idea of interfering with this time at all. Still, he's here; so now he's outside of one building, staring at the wires running into it like they're creatures from another world.]

[Of course, the real reason Emil's come along on this mission is to observe and see what the Initiative is doing when they try to change the past. So if you're out doing your own business, whether it's wrecking things with abandon or quietly working on subtler forms of sabotage, if you turn around you might see a kid in blue watching you.]

[ If it helps any, he's definitely not the only one that's not interested in rampant vandalism it order to achieve whatever results the Initiative wants them too. Right here standing within hearing range is another guy that has next to no desire to break things for them. However, Suzaku does have a least a little technological knowhow, and while he doesn't know exactly what each specific wire does it's not too hard for him to hazard some guesses. ]

Unless you know for sure what they do, I'd say you should probably leave them alone.

She is humming to herself softly as she keeps an eye out for drones, and stopping every so often to grab something to aid in her destruction — a pipe, a chunky piece of rubble, you name it. [A couple hours into this mission and Nic's got the general layout of the city and a few dead machines in his wake; nerves still buzzing from the satisfaction of taking something down, even if he's never seen anything like it before. He wanders the streets with a small package of food, munching habitually on it as he confirms streets with his own rooftop map.

The job's easy enough on paper; taking out whatever powers these houses should do the trick. Individually it'd be a long process, but if he can find the source--then they can get down to business and he can get some actual work done. With that in mind, he licks his fingers free of grease and starts to look around for some sort of power source for the block.]

[Looting is a man's best friend, especially when it's a free for all. Money's best, but none of the houses have much--and what they do looks nothing like the coins he's been given back at Exsilium. Still, he pockets what he can and looks for stuff he can carry back with him to pawn off later. Food, goods; if it fits, it's getting shoved in the bag he picked up sometime throughout the festivities. He's being sneaky about it, but there's only so much you bother with when things are getting hairy out here.]

[What Keith understands is that cutting wires will get the job done. He was never a mechanic, and he has no idea what the Internet is, so whenever he found wires, he cut all of them and has probably made quite a few buildings lose power. Hopefully, that isn't making the inhabitants of Wollongong get locked up in their house, but there're guys who can bust through walls or something, he supposes.

His knife that he picked up in one store or another is getting dull, so some of the wire-cutting sparks more than others. As Nic is looking around for a power source, Keith is crouched by a nearby building, wiping grease off is fingers and checking for how singed his sleeves are before he reaches for his own knapsack that he picked up, digging through it for a bottle of water and tossing it at Nic.]
