MISSION: RELEASE THEM BACK INTO THE WILD

Location: Wollongong, Australia, 2464.
Characters: All voluntary transports + maybe a few drafted ones.
Summary: Make those stay-at-homes leave their nerdcaves! My god, do they even know what sunshine looks like???

The city is old, dark, and very, very quiet. A good deal of the buildings are crumbling and old, but the ones that are actually inhabited glow like candles in the dusk the Transporter has dropped you into. All of these buildings are infested by wiring pouring in from every angle, ensuring that each inhabitant in his or her little block of a room has every modern convenience available in 2464.

There is no one on the streets, no public transportation, and even cars look scarce. But that doesn't mean there's no movement. Maintenance drones, controlled remotely, run deliveries or work repairs. Armed law enforcement drones patrol on rounds through the city, although their mechanized attention is mostly turned outward. Still, they might come to investigate a ruckus within the city limits. And if the persons causing the ruckus don't respond to peaceful attempts to get them to cease, the drones might attempt to subdue them with paralyzing technology and haul them in for a night in the city jail — another dark, unused place.

If you get hungry, there are entire warehouses dedicated to the production of foods. It can't be that hard to sneak in and collect a meal, right? Or you can hack into the system and order whatever you want, if you're good with that kind of thing. Or you can just scavenge—or fast for four days, maybe—if thieving and hacking aren't your style.

And somewhere around here, in those glowing, secluded towers, behind the legions of automated drones, live the reclusive citizens of Wollongong. The methods are up to you, as long as you can get them to come out and breathe the fresh air somehow.

It's hard when Kido's wearing so much!

[She sure is taking smiling seriously. As soon as those words leave his mouth, her hoodie's tugged off. He looks over at her and tries a small tickle again.]

[concealingeyes]

[She turns a little red, mostly from embarrassment.] It's not like I'm going to bite you if you try harder...

Bite me?! Wow, that's way out of line--!

[But he gets the hint. It's hard to tickle with one hand! But he tries her stomach now.]

[concealingeyes]

[She didn't really expect him to actually do it. The surprise gets her more than anything and she grabs hold of his arm to stop herself from moving around too much. Actually, it didn't tickle enough to do much but she smiles because he's such an idiot and she doesn't understand what today has been.

Half-leaning on him, she waves her hand.] Okay okay!

[He's laughing as she grabs his arm, finger already hitting the camera button. The picture's probably out-of-focus and not centered at all, but that doesn't matter. It's got her smile in it, and that's what's makes it good.

He lowers the tablet, tilting his head at her.]

See, see? It wasn't too hard!

[concealingeyes]

It probably looks bad. [But she knows that's not what matters to him.

Somewhat reluctant, she lets go of his arm and straightens up.]

...If you ask first, I guess sometimes you can take pictures of me.

You haven't seen it yet!

[He should try to be more sincere, shouldn't he? So he gives her a genuine smile--even if they had to go a roundabout way to get it, she smiled for his camera. That's a lot from her. A smile for a smile.] Really? If so, then I'll take all the pictures I can of Kido!

[She ducks her head a little but her eyes stay on his smile. It looks real.]

Why would you want so many pictures of me? You see me everyday. You're so weird...

Taking pictures is fun. Besides, you don't let me do it very often!

[concealingeyes]

I still don't get it. Do you keep them?

[duplicitoussight]

Of course I do! That's why people take pictures. What else would you do with them?

[concealingeyes]

I dunno. I don't really take them so I don't know. I guess people keep them in albums...

[duplicitoussight]

That's what I'll do. I'll have an album of aaaall the pictures I take!

Besides, they'll be nice to look at~

[concealingeyes]

[She shakes her head.] I still don't get it but since it makes you happy, it's fine.

[duplicitoussight]

Is it that strange to believe someone wants a picture of you?

[concealingeyes]

[She shrugs.] Well, yeah.

[duplicitoussight]

[Oh...]

How funny! I'd think that since Leader's so elusive, a picture of her would be worth a lot!

[concealingeyes]

Now I sound like one of those lake monsters everyone's always trying to get a picture of...

[duplicitoussight]

... pffft! No, no, you're much scarier than a lake monster!

Are you trying to get me to punch you?

[He quickly shakes his head.] It was just a joke! Don't mind it, don't mind it.

[concealingeyes]

[She looks at him for a moment before holding out her hands.] Let me see your tablet.

[duplicitoussight]

[He gives her a curious look, but hands over the tablet as requested.]

[concealingeyes]

[She messes with it for a second, thinking.]

Think of something really happy, all right? I don't care what. Just something really happy. You can tell me about if you want, or don't if it's private.

--ah! So Kido's taking the pictures now!

[He folds his hands behind his back, grinning. Think of something happy, huh? Well...]
