MISSION: RELEASE THEM BACK INTO THE WILD

Date & Time: April 27th - May 1st
Location: Wollongong, Australia, 2464.
Characters: All voluntary transports + maybe a few drafted ones.
Summary: Make those stay-at-homes leave their nerdcaves! My god, do they even know what sunshine looks like???
Warnings: none planned, will be updated accordingly!

The city is old, dark, and very, very quiet. A good deal of the buildings are crumbling and old, but the ones that are actually inhabited glow like candles in the dusk the Transporter has dropped you into. All of these buildings are infested by wiring pouring in from every angle, ensuring that each inhabitant in his or her little block of a room has every modern convenience available in 2464.

There is no one on the streets, no public transportation, and even cars look scarce. But that doesn't mean there's no movement. Maintenance drones, controlled remotely, run deliveries or work repairs. Armed law enforcement drones patrol on rounds through the city, although their mechanized attention is mostly turned outward. Still, they might come to investigate a ruckus within the city limits. And if the persons causing the ruckus don't respond to peaceful attempts to get them to cease, the drones might attempt to subdue them with paralyzing technology and haul them in for a night in the city jail — another dark, unused place.

If you get hungry, there are entire warehouses dedicated to the production of foods. It can't be that hard to sneak in and collect a meal, right? Or you can hack into the system and order whatever you want, if you're good with that kind of thing. Or you can just scavenge—or fast for four days, maybe—if thieving and hacking aren't your style.

And somewhere around here, in those glowing, secluded towers, behind the legions of automated drones, live the reclusive citizens of Wollongong. The methods are up to you, as long as you can get them to come out and breathe the fresh air somehow.

[[ ooc; Mission details are here! This will run from 27th of April to May 1st, with those on the mission returning to Exsilium at the same time that the new arrivals show up. It's an optional mission, but if you'd like your character to go along that would ICly sit it out, feel free to say that the Initiative drafted them for this one.

There aren't any teams or structured threads to this one, so go wild! ]]

[ She nods at his question, and once Suzaku has closed the distance between them, her eyes glow blue once more to hide them from plain view. That way, they could continue talking and a drone couldn't ambush them easily. ]

That's right, and then I lose the use of the previous power. It's great because I get to experience all types of powers, which is great! But I can't really master them unless the original NEXT— person is by me almost all the time, like my dad. [ She huffs for a moment. ] Although my dad's Hundred Power is annoying sometimes.

[ He notices the glow and glances around to see if things look different around them... ]

Not to mention the problem of losing a useful power when you could use it the most and getting something you don't want in its place.

[ Attention back on her now. ]

What's his Hundred Power do exactly?

Which is exactly what happened back home during a really crazy thing. [ She thinks back to how her unintentional copying of Mr. Maverick's memory-altering power was overridden by Sky High accidentally. At least all the other Heroes could face down a brainwashed Barnaby, even if in the end her dad had to snap him out of it, but still...

Bah! She kicks that horrible, crazy night to the back of her mind.
]

It increases everything by, well, a hundred! So he can run, punch, & kick faster, or jump super crazy high! He's even shown me that it helps with injuries, too. We thought the Hundred Power was what I had at first since I pretty much destroyed my house...

[ Somehow he's not entirely surprised to hear that, though he isn't exactly happy to hear that she was getting caught up in whatever was going back in her world. It does explain why she's as good at handling what's going on at Exsilium as she is though.

The Hundred Power on the other hand...
]

Destroyed your--

[ Damn... ]

I can see how that could be a problem.

[ She nods, wrinkling her nose at the memory. ]

Yeah — simply touching the table as my NEXT powers flared up caused the table to break in two. Lots of pots and pans and utensils bent, too, in addition to other things. Ugh. It was the worst.

[ Dang girl!! Her dad is clearly not a man to be trifled with. It does make him wonder why the Initiative would send him home though, since he sounds like exactly the kind of person you'd want to have around. ]

How long did you have it before you figured out what your real powers were?
copia: (keep my head up and i know i'll be fine)

[personal profile] copia 2013-05-24 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
[ A-yep. And really, who would send home someone whose abilities get amplified? He could probably snap the Masked soldiers in half! ]

Oh gosh, it felt like a month but it couldn't have been more than two weeks? And we figured it out during the crazy thing from luck.
quisling: (The best the best the best)

[ Not to mention everything else he's probably capable of. He'd be able to take care of ripping out the cords people were working so hard to cut with no problem either. ]

"Luck"? Sounds like you have a pretty exciting life back home, either way.
copia: (do it do it)

[personal profile] copia 2013-05-27 07:02 am (UTC)(link)
[ Right?! Too bad he's on a smaller time limit than ever with his powers. ]

Yeah! We didn't know what my NEXT powers were exactly — Dad thought I had two, but that wasn't the case. I think two would be crazy, though.
quisling: (The danger and the power)

[personal profile] quisling 2013-05-28 07:06 am (UTC)(link)
[ That is a downright shame. He makes a sound of agreement at her comment though. ]

Depending on what the two were that might be next to impossible to get a handle on.

They thought it was the Hundred Power and magnetism, since...maybe a day or two later I had all the pots & pans and anything metal sticking to me.
quisling: (Take it any way you want)

[personal profile] quisling 2013-05-29 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
[ Trying to imagine how badly that could end if you had a magnet strong enough to have a pot stick to you... and multiplied that by a hundred.

Yeesh.
]

You were stuck with that for two weeks?
