Summary: The Dan needed to cope and deal with the shock and aftermath of the mission, mostly privately but that is a lot of one-on-one talking so we're putting them all here instead of making a gazillion logs.
Warnings: Talks of death, talks of insecurities, a lot of sad talking.

The mission is over, with one world lost, and a dan member they thought they lost came back thanks to the workings of the Initiative. But everything is only fun and games until someone loses a life once, and now the members of the Mekakushi-dan must deal with their shocking encounter with reality. Maybe they're lucky that they still have each other and their friends to turn to. This post is prose and action spam friendly!

[Right. The future and the present isn't fixed in this world. Time is the battlefield. Even if Keith's world has been plundered and looted, maybe... there was a chance to fix it all as well.

If Keith had been there, could he had saved Kido? It's a 'what if' that hurts a little to think about. Kano does his best to wave it off. He'll try not to dwell on it.]

Ah... I don't think we'll be going on any missions anytime soon. [They'll need a long time to recover. He smiles.] But if we pick one up, we'll definitely let you know.

[He nods, understanding. He can't remember how he first reacted when he saw his father's business in the Mafia... but this reaction is understandable.]

Get rest. I'm across the hall.

[And that's all that needs to be said on the matter. It's probably best that they don't talk too much about it. Even if Kano does appreciate Keith checking up on them...]

... we're just kids. But if something troubles you, you can come to us, too. All right?

... [What a little brat. But he feels that it's sincere, even aware of Kano's ability to deceive. He's not one to smile but he feels very fond of Kano in that moment and so he reaches over and puts a hand on the kid's head, ruffling his hair quietly. It's kind of a funny experience having a kid telling him he could go to them for help. Usually, his brothers just offered to help him fight things off.

It just reminds him more that these kids aren't ready for the rough and tumble at all. He wonders if he should consider it fortunate that it wasn't their home that got destroyed. He wouldn't wish what happened onto anyone else. But he didn't want it to happen either.]

[Keith seemed the type to value silence. He must dislike a chatterbox like him, making him speak because he can't read into (or maybe can't stand?) his silence. In all honesty, he definitely was the sort Kido would like and she in turn was someone he'd be more fond of--quiet people with subtle ways of communicating.

So he doesn't expect that gesture of fondness. It reminds him of when he still had someone to call dad to do that to him.

It feels nice. He smiles at Keith, spreading his arms out on the couch.]

Glad to hear it! Ah, you rest well, all right?

[He nods, ruffling Kano's hair for a second more before he pulls back, his hand back in his lap and the usual expressionless but firm look back on his face. He does not scoff at Kano that kids should not be telling adults to take care; his nod is completely serious, and he plans to rest as Kano told him to.]

You do, too.

[And should Kano or Kido or Kaede need anything, Kano should know he is just across the hall.]
