The virus is spreading, and even the Dan is catching it. And so are their friends. This is whatever they decide to do during June while sick. Prose and action spam friendly!

Thank you. Don't overstress yourself, but as much information as possible for fine-tuning the medicines will be useful.

[spoilers all of jade's charges get their own medical files so he can try to treat their individual problems (eg a tendency towards lung infections) as precisely as possible]

[Before, he would've never offered this. But before was when he was locked up in his room and didn't have to think about anyone but himself, Momo, and their mother, who he had thought about for his entire life anyway. But now there is no mother, and there are other kids -- younger than him who're on their own too -- that have been barging into his life for a good month now. So he asks]

Do you need anything?

Not at present. Thank you for the offer.

[He needs Shintaro to rest, to take his medicine, to recover.]

Don't doctors take samples when trying to find vaccines and treatments?

[Resting and taking the medicine is dandy, but Shintaro is a highly pessimistic person. But even in the midst of it, he wonders if all his symptoms and the terrible state of the sickness might be of some use.]

[Jade takes some serious consideration before responding to this.]

Are you volunteering?

I'm offering, aren't I?

Very well. If you're ready, I'll come to you now.

Might as well do it now. You know where my room is, right?

[clinical]

I'll be over in a moment.

[And indeed he is, with a medical bag and a surgical mask. That's how he rolls, yo.]

[Shintaro will open the door for him, inviting Jade into the dining area, where he already put out a glass of water for the guy. He figures it would be easier for the both of them if they could do this while avoiding carpets or couches or bed sheets. Who knew what Jade would need? Shintaro wasn't keen on having to wash out blood if Jade was the type to screw up.]

Welcome, Jade-san.

Thank you. [There's a tiny little frown on Jade's brow. It's the tiniest.] Have you donated blood or had samples taken before?

[Shintaro, a little bit eager to get himself into one of the chairs at the counter and standing only because it's polite to let the visitor sit first, doesn't notice the frown. He instead thinks and answers the question.]

Nothing within the last two years, at the least. I've never donated blood.

[clinical]

Please take a seat. [Putting his bag on the table, he starts removing supplies—a vial, a needle, a thick band.] The process is simple. A rubber band is wrapped around your arm. I'll insert a needle into a blood vessel at your elbow and draw a small sample of blood.

[You can't see the smile.] I believe the process is then to give the subject a cookie and orange juice.

Sugar, right? I'm sure we've got some juice in the fridge if I look...

[He considered rolling up his jacket sleeve, but if it's going to be at the elbow it'd be quicker to just take it off entirely. So Shintaro shrugs off the red jacket and drops it on the back of one of the chairs, goosebumps immediately appearing on his arms; he's burning up, and the air is cold.]

Have you done this before?

[clinical]

[He nods his approval and quickly wraps the band around Shintaro's upper arm.] Often enough. ['I'm accustomed to extracting a different kind of data,' he doesn't say.

But the truth of his words becomes apparent in the deftness with which he selects a blood vessel, attaches a tub, and presses the needle in. There's no need to stab blindly looking for another. And Shintaro can have the fun experience of watching his blood beat its way into a clear tube.]

[It's a little scary, he thinks to himself. He doesn't know Jade very well at all, and he was already uncomfortable with just Kaworu and Kido touching his forehead for his temperature. In his already weakened state, he has to concentrate not to tense as Jade wraps the band and puts the needle in his vessel. Seeing the blood appear in the tube, he feels a strong urge to yank himself away and apologize for offering, apologize for backing out after they'd already started and ask Jade to leave.

He flattens his hand against the counter to stop it from shaking, and lowers his head a little so he wouldn't have to meet Jade's eyes or watch his blood. He could just say he was tired.]

You said you were a soldier, before... a medic?

[clinical]

[Jade notices the signs, and he would stop, but at that stage, it's impossible. Instead, he finishes up quickly and elects not to take another vial. If necessary, he can likely replicate what Shintaro has provided.]

I've done work with my military's scientific research division.

[Needle out, band untied, swap of antiseptic over the place where the needle went in—and then a little bandaid with a cartoon bear's face on it.]

[He opens his mouth to respond, and then his attention is caught by the silly bandaid. He wasn't expecting one. And why the design? His hand feels a little cold and shaky from being so nervous.]

I guess every army has them. [He hesitates in thanking Jade for doing the research right now. What if he doesn't want to be thanked? And other strange hesitations about expressing thanks.

He decides he should get that orange juice Jade mentioned, so he turns to get to his feet. But suddenly getting up with this fever and losing a vial's worth of blood causes his head to spin out of control, so he -- for a lack of better words -- falls, knees buckling.]

[clinical]

[Jade moves quickly to catch him.] Stay seated. I'll get you something to eat and drink. [It isn't an officer's command; it's a doctor's orders.]

[He raises a hand to cover his mouth when he thinks he's going to be sick, but nothing comes up so he lifts himself off of Jade gingerly and shakes his head.]

Thank you. But... I'll be okay. I just moved too quickly. I can do it myself.

[clinical]

[Oh there comes again the tiniest frown.] Very well. [He will step in and catch your bony hikiNEET ass if he has to, though.]

[Leave his bony hikiNEET ass alone gosh. Shintaro sort of wobbles to the fridge and gets out that orange juice, but he has trouble opening it. Tight lids are not easy to open with tired, shaky hands.]
