Summary: Holding a dinner so we can all get to know each other, this should end terribly.

[This month's haul of transports seemed to bring in a lot of familiar faces for the residents of 103. Friends, family, comrades, terrifying generals who are your boss now- all sorts! ]

[It was Sophie's idea to hold a dinner. A dinner of family, for everyone to have a chance to meet each other and get to know each other better. It seemed like a nice way to welcome everyone into this horrible war. But hey, food! And so, Allen and Sophie made sure to invite their friends, family and comrades in order to have a warm evening together]

[And Kaneis, well, at least he isn't climbing out the back window at the prospect of social interaction for hours. This my friends, is progress. ]

[But gather around friends and family and terrifying boss! There's food, people, wine and games to be had! Just you know, try not to cough in it you sick jerks]

I don't know him that well, so I can't really say. I know it always feels nicer to me to be invited, though.

[Asbel looks on in concern. He's still over by the door, not even bothering to worry about whether he might catch it himself. Should he call Cheria in to look at her? Surely she already knows about her own houseguest, though...]

[Asbel offers a smile when he sees her face peeking out. Huh. Red hair. Could this be Kaneis' sister?]

Sure, I'll bring you a cup. How do you like it?

And I wish you'd eat something. Cheria had me practically slaving over that rice, you know.

[He volunteered, actually. Whether his help's a good or bad thing is up to your individual discretion. Asbel tries to keep the tone light, but Hubert does still seem a little...he doesn't know. Agitated? He's not sure why.]

But I'll try to keep my eyes open. Actually, I've been thinking of looking into the history of this place so I can understand it better.

I was still pretty angry back then. [And sad. And...stupid, if he's being honest.] Mostly at myself. And Dad. I guess I felt like if I didn't spend my time training, if I didn't find a way to graduate and become a knight, then I wasn't doing enough.

It was Sophie's idea, after all, so I guess that would make her the hostess. [And Kaneis, Allen and Cheria, too, since it's their apartment.]

Because I know Sophie would want everyone to have a good time and get to know new people, and I'm sure Cheria is hoping everyone gets enough to eat.

I mean, that makes sense, right? They're both my friends, and I want their friends to enjoy this dinner, too.

[ Turning away from him, she continues eating. ]

Oh. Well, that's...

[How exactly is he supposed to show his appreciation? Asbel hasn't managed to figure that part out, yet. He'd come close - once - to admitting how invaluable she is to him and to Sophie, but Cheria already knows what she wants to do with herself, right? It just didn't seem fair to burden her with his own hopes for the future.]

[And it's okay Cheria. Asbel can't see you. He's too busy being embarrassed himself - and trying to salvage the rice that sloshed over the edge of the bowl. Chef material he is not, but he manages to retrieve quite a bit.]

It's fine! I've got it. [...More or less...] I'll just wash it a few more times.

Oh! So then Allen or Kaneis invited you? I can always introduce you to the others if you want. Either way, I still hope you have fun tonight!

She's friendship: challenge mode. Even shonens have trouble with this one.

( he knows. much better than he did before, thinking book-reading and little events here or there made him knowledgeable. he ran into a battle rashly more than once now, but he doesn't want to do it again. )

[As evidenced by a few bites he's made into his omelette. Still, that persistence is almost getting annoying at this point, however Hubert understands that Asbel means only goodwill by it.

As for this world's history, I've been speaking with someone to find books on it. I believe it wise to study up on it, and I'd be more than happy to direct you to what books would be good to start with.
