They thought that trips to Alaska and getting shots would be the beginning of a relaxing break. Instead they got quarantines and bombs and people getting mad at them. Big. Sigh.

[Er...]

i'll meet you at the bottom of the stairs.

[True to Kano, he arrives late--five minutes late, to be exact. He peers around the corner, trying to see if Kido is there as she promised.]

[She waited, as promised, and yanks him around the corner fully, kneeing him in the gut.] You stupid brat what do you think you were doing going out into dangerous areas and provoking the natives, huh?! What would happen if you got hurt?! Geez, do you do any thinking in that empty head of-

[Too much at once. Kido stops and ducks her head, taking a shaky breath. Her shoulders tremble as she represses a cough. She holds up one finger. Hang on, hang on, she'll finish yelling at him in a moment.]

[As per the routine he doubles over, breath knocked out of him. He's trying to steady himself on the ground, still smiling when he realizes that Kido's stopped shouting at him. He raises his head in concern and pushes himself up, wobbly.]

... did you choke on your spit, Kido? That's what happens when you get too worked up!

[She punches him in the arm, unsteady with her aim, as she starts to cough from trying to yell back.] I-Idiot...! Shut up...

[He takes the punch without a fuss, only acknowledging it with a rub.]

Ah, would you rather shout at me inside? Yelling at me in this cold air won't do your throat any good!

[She shakes her head and leans against the wall.] It's fine. It's just all this rain. How do people not get sick normally anyway...?

[He comes closer.] They don't exert themselves like you do.

[She can breathe again but she feels a little more tired than she should.] So they're lazy cats like you.

[His answer to that is a smile and a change of subject.] Let's go back inside, Leader! It wouldn't do any good for you to get sick again.

[Finally she relents and sighs. She'll let him drag her inside but she can still nag him.] Yeah yeah. So tell me how you got that information. Tell the truth, Kano.

I told you already. Ah, Leader needs to pay better attention! [He mulls over for a moment how to best put this.] I said I went around and did a test of sorts.

[She sighs. Don't get mad. It's actually bad for her health at the moment.]

What sort of tests? You're so dodgy.

They weren't dangerous at all, since I didn't get hurt. [That definition works right.] All I did was see their reactions around someone who looked like a transport and someone who didn't. It was pretty simple!

[She reaches up and knocks him on the top of his head.] Idiot. That's still really dangerous! You're lucky you didn't get hurt. Just don't do something that stupid again. Or ask one of us to come with you.

[He keeps on his smile, bowing his head in apology.] It's fine, it's fine. It was only once.

[That's a definite lie. He's gotten some bruises from previous tests, but they didn't really hurt since he's used to them. And he knows Kido's busy and tired, helping out with Sis and everyone else. This will help a little bit, even if he had to lie to do it.]

[She sighs. It's always hard to tell when he's lying. She calls him a bad liar but in the end he's good at it, too. So she sighs and pats his shoulder once.]

...Look out for yourself, too. That's all I'm asking.

Don't be such a worrywart! I'm not reckless.

[She gives him a look. That's a really stupid lie.]

It's my job to worry anyway. Most of it comes from you.

[His usual answer would be to wave that off with a joke or to direct it with another vague reply. But... since she tried to change for him these past few months... shouldn't he, too, for her?]

... if that's the case, Kido should tell me how I can make her worry less!

[She blinks once, staring for a moment before glancing down again. Is he actually trying?]

...Don't go off and do things like that. It's useful, I'm not denying that, but... tell me first. Keep in contact with me while you do something dangerous. And it is dangerous right now, don't wave that off. ...Just take care of yourself as much as you do me.

[Kido runs a hand through her hair, sighing.] I'm always waiting to hear something you've done or something that's happened to you. Or both. You're such trouble.

[What she says makes sense. If he went the wrong street or pushed the wrong person... well, it'd be good to have backup, wouldn't it? And if it eased her worries some...]

I'll keep Kido updated then. Ah, that means I can text Kido my reports as much as I want, right?
