Get back home, things are wrong - Well, not really. It was bad all along.

Location: the hospital & catacombs
Characters: Jesse, Saul & OPEN to anyone who wants to run into them
Summary: Jesse drags Saul's ass to safety and then they hang out for a while.

[Jesse's already been at Saul's side for days, ever since he was brought to the hospital. At first, the only thing he's worried about is the illness itself and the possibility that Walter White might stop by to speed the process along, so to speak. Then comes the United Earth's transmission, and then the alert that bombing is imminent. Still, Saul's condition is so bad that Jesse doesn't want to evacuate him until it's absolutely necessary. It's one of those tough decisions: what if the bombs never come but the stress of it all makes Saul even sicker? He opts to keep watch instead - already wearing a ventilator to keep from getting infected, anyway - and to listen for the sounds he's come to know so well by now.
When he hears the first distant rumbles, he gets to his feet immediately and reaches out to shake Saul's shoulders.]
Wake up. Wake up, Saul. We gotta go.

Hey. [Just spoken quietly to Saul, before she turns her head enough to look at Jesse. Idly, she remembers that her lenses are down and thinks really hard about them retracting, which works (sentient weapons are neat), because she doesn't want to look too creepy in the dim light.] I can probably manage that in a second. What about you?
[She's guessing at withdrawal, considering the state Jesse's apartment was in when she visited.]
no subject
I'm okay.
no subject
[His words are muffled against her hair, but clear enough. A few more seconds pass before he finally pulls away and gives her a quick once-over with those watery eyes of his.]
What about you?
no subject
Gonna be bruised tomorrow, but I'm fine.
[She's got a rebreather at least, to protect her from the gasses when she heads outside.]
Can I help?
[With either of them, and if Jesse's gonna lie about being okay, she'll just direct her question to Saul.]
no subject
This is what he tells himself.]
Do you need anything, Jesse?

no subject
How do you feel? Difficulties breathing, fever, anything? Did they have you on any medication at the hospital?
[They're stretched way too thin, down here, and as much as she wishes everyone could have access to a ventilator and an IV, at least, they need to focus their resources on the worst cases. But she can try to do what she can.]

[To all. Not so much right now — him being up and on his feet and not wobbling while doing so is a testament to that — but he's been running what he thinks is only a low fever since Jesse's episode. Maybe it's the adrenaline that's keeping him going.]
It's okay. I'll call Ashraf or something.
no subject
[She's judging the both of them just a little bit, even if she's used to people who are stubborn about their health.]
no subject
[Stephanie, too. Saul's sure of it. And she's here, so...]
He'll come.
no subject
[They can do more to help against the injuries from the bombings than a doctor can.]
You tell him I'll kick his ass if he doesn't, yeah?
[SHE'LL DO IT, DON'T THINK SHE WON'T.]
no subject
I'll tell him.
[No, he won't. But what he will do is plant a kiss on her forehead before he wobble-steps away completely, waving his hands in a shoo motion.]
You should go. Other people need your help more than we do. I'll call you if anything happens, okay? For real, this time.
[Except it's less that other people need her and more this: He doesn't want her to see either of them — him or Jesse — in their respective states.
Also, remember that time he said he'd call her and didn't because he was unconscious?
He should stop saying he's going to call people.]
no subject
Like you called me last time?
[She will happily call him out on that, though, and is also getting a bottle of ibuprofen out of her utility belt to hand to him.]
I know it's not much, but it should take the edge off the pain and fever.
[If only she could fit ventilators and heart monitors into her utility belt.]
no subject
But her comment about not calling earns a little duck of his head and a mumble in reply:] Wasn't exactly my fault.
no subject
[She should probably be angrier at him than she is, but she mostly just sounds a little tired, worried, maybe. She's used to superheroes doing dumb things with their health, she doesn't need normal people doing it, too.]
no subject
[And then Jesse showed up.
So.]
You could've called too, you know.
[NO HAHA HE'S JUST KIDDING mostly. The smirk says he's kidding. See, Steph? He's fine. He's joking around. Nothing to worry about.]
no subject
I thought you might want some space.
[The suggestion here that he's a delicate flower or something who needed space because he kissed a girl.
Joking about it is clearly a good coping mechanism!!!]
no subject
Go do your thing. I'm not going anywhere and I'll have my tablet with me.

no subject
[Well, she's taking a step back and giving them both one last look that's sort of like going.]
If something happens and you don't call me, keep in mind that I can kick your ass, too. [Steph stop threatening people.] Look after each other.
[OKAY NOW SHE'S GONE.
GOODBYE FRIENDS.]
