Missionmas in July (closed)
Date & Time: July
Location: two cities
Characters: killer, vampire, wondergirl
Summary: Missions. One peaceful starter for each with room for violence in sequels.
Warnings: Alcohol use for Shiki, asylum topics for Alice.
A crowded, rowdy tavern in period France. The roof kept the rain out, and... that was the main boast the place could make. All around words she didn't understand being spoken - was her translator working or not? In so much noise either way it didn't matter. She was putting more effort into keeping her hologram on. The modifications her appearance needed were pervasive even by Transport standards. Horns, fangs, all her coloring... Kanaya tried not to think about it. This way she would receive better treatment than the Natives provided. Back home.
So she placed a carefully practiced order for the only drink sold here that either of her conditions would allow: A tall glass of water. Kanaya would nurse this slowly throughout the evening as she hung close to Shiki, looking to him for guidance on how to conduct herself here.
Kanaya walked back into the hotel room with one arm around a paper bag. Around Alice and having ascertained they were alone here, she felt secure leaving the hologram on its default setting of transports-no others-yes. Her period clothes were left intact, something she didn't mind as much in England as in France. There was something nice about matching Alice.
She set the goods down on the counter and looked up to her mission partner. "Well, here I am again. I hope for your sake I don't botch this batch too badly."

Kanaya relaxed a little with Alice's declaration of support. Of course she would be there if Kanaya got anything wrong, more experienced with this area.
"Then to begin..." She began to open the bags and mix the ingredients.

Once said troll was awake and prepared, Alice turned to her and asked, "I suppose we'd best be on our way. Shall we?"

And they wanted to be as brief as possible.

"It's not often that I find myself expecting, and seeking a hasty return back to Exsilium."

When they entered the hospital, Kanaya managed not to freeze too thoroughly; she moved first to introduce them to the appropriate member of the hospital's staff. "I'm Maryam and this is my coworker Liddell," she said, with more speed and less clarity than her usual meticulous attention to enunciation. Partly she put in a little effort to imitate the voice of bygone Britons. Mostly she had to cut corners to make her emotions mistakable for disinterest or hurriedness rather than discomfort and fear.

"Miss Kanaya and I are both expecting to begin as soon as possible."

"Okay... Okay."
Then out came her chainsaw. With the holographic disguise in place, it looked somewhat more like a saw suited to construction work - nonetheless the teeth were sharp.

"Now then, I suppose it's just about time for us to begin." The much anticipated moment had finally arrived.
"Shall we?"

Doc Scratch had primed Alternian culture for aptitude in architecture, so Kanaya quickly identified an appropriate place for them to begin striking down the wall. There she cut a deep line with her chainsaw, weakening the wood for the upcoming hobby-horse. Keeping her lips sealed shut instead of letting out a battle cry was difficult, and her period-appropriate lipstick smeared with the effort.

There was little doubt the noise would've attracted some unwanted attention. No matter. She was only getting started.
