(open) kitten adoptions by squirrel
Date & Time: July 26th, all day
Location: The Housing Complex
Characters: Sir Codpiece & ...you!
Summary: Sir Codpiece has been granted a mission from the Wise Hag: to find homes for all the furry feline fiends he can in this city of Exsilium. Thus he comes a knocking.
Warnings: Ridiculousness.
( Codpiece manages to take two or three kittens along at a time, in twine harnesses he made himself while suffering the heat and hysteria of the jungle beaches. He keeps them in line through cajoling, tugging, herding, and bopping noses, sometimes even resorting to using his very limbs as entertainment.
His poor tail...!
And now he's made it to your door, where he lifts one gauntleted paw and knocks three times sharp, hoping to draw your attention. Should the door open, he leads in with a polite few words. )
Greetings, my lord, my lady. I have been sent on a quest of earnest importance across this dark and determined city. Pray tell, would you have room at your hearth for a feline pup gone chilled and crying for lack of warm mantels to sleep upon?

Ah, but Lord Kelly had given a good list of posessions that would help. )
I would strongly suggest you procure separate bedding for the young kitten, along with a toy or two, if feeling generous. Good food until he or she might provide for themselves, clean water, such as any creature could desire. A warm place to sleep. That is all I want for those in my care.
( With something almost like fondness, he half twists around to stroke the forehead of the nearest of the two kittens with one paw. He clinks as he moves, and the kitten's ear twitches. One eye opens; the kitten yawns, then closes her eye again. Too much effort, man. )

Not just because of the fact that a talking squirrel corralling kittens is just plain surreal, but because said squirrel appears to be genuine. She isn't used to genuine from sentient, magical animals.]
That's it? [She kneels down so that she's closer to eye level with the squirrel and his...charges.] You don't want anything else, no pay, nothing?
[Why is she having this conversation?] Hold on a sec... [Rubbing her head.] This is crazy. What are you supposed to be, anyway? Squirrels don't talk.

( The kittens yawn again -- one reaches out to bat at his tail, half heartedly. He pretends not to notice. )
Now, my lady, have you the greatness of heart to assist one such as me in my quest of the ages, or shall I pick up these weary travelers and travel on to sweeter meadows?

The mental image makes her immediately glance away — she coughs into her fist to hide the laughter she knows is coming, but she doesn't quite hit the mark.]
Codpiece? Why wouldja... [Focus, Kyouko. She takes a deep breath, composes herself, and studies the kittens more carefully now, assessing her options. She didn't like pets much (she would claim in public) but maybe one of the others...
She points to one, a little black cat.] That one. It'll keep rats outta here once it gets big, I guess.

Because it'll fit around one of her fingers, at that -- so useful, right? )
A keen eye for potential you have there, my lady! I am sure the black fiend will be known to rodents as their imminent doom. As a feline should be!

It was pretty cute, though...] Right, whatever. Me and the others here'll keep an eye on it.

( He bows -- and makes his way off with those charges that remain in his care. )

That was weird...
[Well, it would be a story to tell the others.]
