Cometh the Big Crying Wheel
Date & Time: Sept 15th
Location: A refurbished castle on the outskirts of Exsilium.
Characters: Anyone at the party!
Summary: Vanadi hosts a party that goes very poorly.
Warnings: Violence, probably! Let a mod know if we should update this.

It’s a lovely night for a party!
The venue at the outskirts of town is, unfortunately, a bit drafty — and actually rather sparsely furnished, as well. In fact, party goers are encouraged to mingle, drink, and enjoy themselves in the courtyard, as the castle itself wasn’t able to be renovated in time, and has proven to be a little bit architecturally unsound. Any explorative guests might find a small hail of dust and pebbles on their heads if they venture too far in — and who knows what else, if they continue on.
But the drinks and snacks both are plentiful and delicious, and the large canvas set up from castle wall to castle wall keeps off the sprinkling rain. The weather could even be described as warmish and pleasant, if one were feeling generous. A group of Exiles plays classic instruments in one corner of the courtyard, having been paid enough to even smile at any Transports that wander near.
All in all, it’s shaping up to be a good night. Until about 10 PM, that is. Come 10 PM, the Misery rolls into town, tearing down the canvas, nullifying powers, and crying corrosive blood everywhere. That’s the cue for all hell to break loose, as the final wave of mind-controlled characters snag their victims and make for the hills — or at least for the UE. The mind-controlled characters will also have the backup of a squadron of 20 of the Masked, the UE's special ops force. The Masked's main goal is to grab those on their list and get away, but they're certainly not above shooting to kill at anyone that gets in their way. They're also highly trained in hand-to-hand combat and physically enhanced by their suits, so they're a good bunch to try to avoid.
But do have a wonderful time until then, won’t you?

[ Caesar takes the offered hand gratefully and pulls himself up, although it takes a few extra seconds before he's steady enough on his feet to be comfortable letting go. Okay... ]
They're only after people with special abilities, so I know they won't care about me.
[ This guy, though, who knows. Lots of people here have powers without it being so obvious! ]

[ His declaration is punctured by the castle shaking dust and bits of stone down on everyone. Anyway, he's finally going to make his move to get out, but he doesn't leave the wall. Not exactly. He's keeps close to it, almost still pressing a shoulder against it, as he starts shoving his own way past. ]
Come on!

[ So he'll just slowly make his way along the wall here. Easy does it. ]
Hmm? [ Though he does look back for a second at the question. ] Well yeah. He only choked me a little. My legs are fine.

canfeels like here! ]Oh? So you have powers?

[ Hopefully. He forges on ahead, certain he sees the light of an actual exit ahead. ]
What are they?
no subject
What, my power? Just one. Control of shadows. [Only one, but it was a doozie.]

[ That said, they've made it to the exit. It's not quite a door, or perhaps it used to be a door, but it is a ground-level space that leads outside! If, uh, a little blocked by rubble. ]
Looks like we need to climb a little...
no subject
Damn. Well... [Knowing Caesar is having a hard time of if, Alucard darts off to grad a few large pieces of rubble nearby. Time to start piling them up so they have something to climb up.]</small. We better hurry. Hopefully no one will come this way if they think it's blocked, but we can't be too sure.
no subject
[ Not that he'll stop Alucard from piling rubble up a bit. Still... ]
You don't need to stick around, you know. Go on ahead. I'm sure I'm fine enough to climb.
[ He does it enough by choice, so how hard could a pile of rubble be? ]

Fine, fine.
[ He follows up after, more careful and sure-footed about what he clambers up, so, yes, also a little slower, but he doesn't ascend as gracelessly. When the hand is in reach, though, he'll reach out to take it and let Al help him up and through the rest of the way. ]
There we go. Now to get down...

[ With nothing obvious to step down onto, he does about the same as Alucard, finding a spot to slide down while tenuously keeping his balance. He will stagger and find himself unbalanced at the end, though, which leaves him sitting down hard on the very end of the rubble.
A few more bruises, but...
He'll live. ]
Ugh. See? I said this castle was poorly maintained. [ To who, exactly? Well, anyone within hearing range of his early evening complaints, anyway. ] It can't even fall apart in useful large chunks. Such a disgrace.

[ So of course the dang thing is falling apart. He sighs and gets to his feet. ]
I imagine that should've been the first tip off. The last party like this was held in a different time, at a much better place, so why the change? Because the UE wouldn't be able to attack a different time.

...At least I don't think they normally do.
