Cometh the Big Crying Wheel

Date & Time: Sept 15th
Location: A refurbished castle on the outskirts of Exsilium.
Characters: Anyone at the party!
Summary: Vanadi hosts a party that goes very poorly.
Warnings: Violence, probably! Let a mod know if we should update this.


It’s a lovely night for a party!

The venue at the outskirts of town is, unfortunately, a bit drafty — and actually rather sparsely furnished, as well. In fact, party goers are encouraged to mingle, drink, and enjoy themselves in the courtyard, as the castle itself wasn’t able to be renovated in time, and has proven to be a little bit architecturally unsound. Any explorative guests might find a small hail of dust and pebbles on their heads if they venture too far in — and who knows what else, if they continue on.

But the drinks and snacks both are plentiful and delicious, and the large canvas set up from castle wall to castle wall keeps off the sprinkling rain. The weather could even be described as warmish and pleasant, if one were feeling generous. A group of Exiles plays classic instruments in one corner of the courtyard, having been paid enough to even smile at any Transports that wander near.

All in all, it’s shaping up to be a good night. Until about 10 PM, that is. Come 10 PM, the Misery rolls into town, tearing down the canvas, nullifying powers, and crying corrosive blood everywhere. That’s the cue for all hell to break loose, as the final wave of mind-controlled characters snag their victims and make for the hills — or at least for the UE. The mind-controlled characters will also have the backup of a squadron of 20 of the Masked, the UE's special ops force. The Masked's main goal is to grab those on their list and get away, but they're certainly not above shooting to kill at anyone that gets in their way. They're also highly trained in hand-to-hand combat and physically enhanced by their suits, so they're a good bunch to try to avoid.

Hey. It's Peter, right?

[It's a familiar voice. That kid who brought the weed on arrival day. And he's been drifting around pretty quietly for the most part, save for when he came across the orchestra and chatted them up abut, running drinks for them. He knows a few of those guys, they're pretty alright. And he knows Peter too, sort if. So he makes the effort not to leave the guy standing in the corner alone.]

This party blows.

[werewolfing]

[peter smiles, recognizing the voice. he's got a cigarette in hand, one of the local hand-rolled tobacco variety, and he offers it to share. yeah, it's not a nice one from home, but hey.]

Last time I checked. Hey, Stanley. And yeah, sure as hell does. But free food.

[lazyinlove]

[Food is pretty nice, now that he's got that upchucking thing out of his system. Stan takes the cigarette with a nod, puffs and passes.]

Yeah, food doesn't suck. Just the way that everyone who throws a party around here is old and uptight.

[werewolfing]

Yep, definitely not here for the music or the view. Don't really get why this kind is any easier to pull off than something actually fun.

[lazyinlove]

It's not.

[But he's never the guy who throws the party. That's for people who...do things. It's kind of a conundrum.]

[werewolfing]

[he just shrugs and drags on the cigarette.]

Not that much for parties, really.

How've you been?

[lazyinlove]

[Stan doesn't mind them when they're actually fun, but so far no such luck around here. Though he's not too surprised Peter doesn't like them. He did find the guy kind off hiding in a corner after all.]

I got sick. But, then I got better. That's about as exciting as it gets.

[Until something else horrible happens anyway. By the sound of it, he's fine with this lack of excitement he's been experiencing lately.]

[werewolfing]

This seems like a shitty place to get the flu.

[peter's not really thinking about horrible things happening. observing carnage is fine, but he really prefers horrible things to happen to people not him or his. being an observer is infinitely better than playing hero or victim.]

It kinda was. I sneaked down to the basement stairwell for a smoke and then I had 9 flights of stairs to climb to get back to my room.

[He laughs, not bothered by the memory now that's it's over. But man did it ever suck at the time.]

Shee-it. I'd go for leaning out the window.

[he shakes his head, smiling.]

Nah, I went for the roof next time. Nurses notice open windows, but no one cares about the roof. And that was only three flights.

[werewolfing]

Smart man.

[he gives stanley a wry grin and offers the cigarette again.]

[Stan nods and accepts, enjoying a nice puff of tobacco that didn't require espionage tactics to achieve.]

So, what've you been up to?

[werewolfing]

Learning the lay of the land, mostly. Considering alternative housing arrangements. Went to a few of those training things. The weapon thing is some weird business.

[that's not entirely the truth; peter's weapon is the most natural thing in the world to him. that someone else messed around with it, that's some weird business.]

Don't like your roommates?

[The weapon comment gets a slight furrowing of the brow from Stanley. Oh, yeah. They're supposed to have weapons. He keeps forgetting about that, but he really should ask for one sometime, maybe.]

[werewolfing]

The one I've met isn't bad, for a dragon-dude or a soldier. Just not big on living with strangers and acquaintances. Gets complicated.

[peter has a secret that needs keeping, after all.]

You live with a dragon?

[That is either really awesome or really fucking horrible. It's a 50/50 thing.]

[werewolfing]

Half-dragon, maybe? Definitely humanoid, but also pretty dragon-y. Seemed kind of racist to ask, though.

[seriously, peter? seriously? it's impossible to tell whether he's being sarcastic or not.]

[That gets an eyebrow quirk. Stan totally would've asked, but hey. Maybe it really is rude.]

[werewolfing]

[he shrugs and spreads his hands]

You get that shit enough, you just don't pass it on.

Better than insurance salesman.

[He rubs out the cherry on the cigarette since it's low and hands the roach back. Everyone knows the rule for hand rolleds is to keep the nubs. And a familiar pencil case comes out of his pocket for another type of hand rolled smoke, which he lights, takes a lungful of, and passes along.]

[werewolfing]

Not hard to accomplish 'better than insurance salesman'.

[peter's repurposed an altoids container from his school bag for this purpose, and he takes the roach with a nod. by the time he's done fussing with it, stanley is passing him the joint, and he takes that with a grin.]
